Generated using AI from real user reviews
Users consistently praise Visual Studio Code for its lightweight performance and extensive customization options, which allow for a tailored coding experience across various programming languages. The built-in Git integration and IntelliSense features enhance productivity, making it a preferred choice for many developers. However, some users note that performance can decline when too many extensions are installed.

"Amazing Tool"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It's an amazing editor and it is integrated with Git. It Works on Windows, Linux, and Mac allowing me to access my code on any device. It's easy to use and a free product also its controls are very user-friendly. It's also great for web development or ASP or .NET based developments. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

You cannot do front-end development with Visual Studios. It also takes too long to install and uses up a lot of memory. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the best open source code editors available"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

One of the best things about Visual Studio Code is that it ready to use out of the box without having to customize your installation. This is especially true for Javascript and web development but there are official plugins for Golang, Python, and so forth. If you like to customize, you still have that option but it's ready to go upon install. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The only thing I dislike is very cosmetic: the new logo (as of November 2017) is ugly. Microsoft listened to the community and changed the color but the logo still looks like a fish and a giant backwards "L". Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great code editor."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The most important thing in Visual Studio Code for me is the fact that it is a cross-platform editor, I use it on my Windows/Mac/Linux machines. It makes the development process much easier and convenient when you have your own environment setup on each of the platforms (which can be easily transferred to a text configuration file).

This editor It's lightweight and fast, with a large variety of extensions and capabilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Developing with C# (and I guess other compiled languages) is not that convenient, if I have Visual Studio on my machine I would probably choose it over Visual Studio Code. But Visual Studio Code is still great for scripting languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excellent text editor for Front-end dev"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code team is on fire! They regularly release new features, the latest inline Git review is great! I've been experimenting with collaborative editing & debugging with remote teammates and it's worked like a dream. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Nothing so far, VS Code fits into my workflow smoothly. For power users who like to config and customize Code, there's so much more to dig into! The only downside can be the rapid pace new features are released - so much to learn...! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"This is a very good open source implementation of Visual Studio"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I have been using Visual Studio Since version 1.0 and am very used to how things work. When I tried Visual Studio Code and found that most of the standard key strokes still work. This means I don't have to learn (and be confused by) any new methods of developing software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The look and feel of the product could be closer to the paid version of Visual Studio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visual Studio Code can help web developers who get used to c#"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The most I like in this application is very easy to use and it's very user-friendly. Even friendly to your computer cause it requires a bit of your memory. It's like coding in ASP.NET MVC style. And one good thing is that it's a free source application from visual studio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The downside of this application is the intellisense is not much. It has a little bit complicated keyboard shortcuts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fantastic for getting started quickly"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I loved the fact that I was able to import in Sublime Text key bindings. This allowed me to jump right into the editor and enjoy the additional functionality without a long lag time of learning their short keys. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Sometimes the side by side view is not quite large enough and I would enjoy being able to pull out a tab and have it create a new window for me on my other monitor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Plesent experience for a free product"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It is probably the best free text editor on the market. It reminds me a lot of sublime text but isn't nearly as nice. But it is free. Every update is getting better and better and as the community grows the plugins get better as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It is still new so some features I want from competitors are still missing. Some features, like the ability to work in multiple spots, just do not work as well as their competitors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
