"Lightweight Editor with Powerful Extensions"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I really appreciate how lightweight and powerful Visual Studio Code is, making it ideal for coding and software design. The interface is clean and highly customizable, adding to the user-friendliness of the platform. I value the extensive support for programming languages, especially with the help of extensions, which enhances my coding experience. The software combines multiple tools in a single place, which streamlines the development process by eliminating the need to switch between different editors, terminals, or Git clients. I can do everything within this single software, which greatly improves my productivity and efficiency. The inbuilt editors along with support for Git clients and the terminal all in one platform are particularly useful. The included real-time collaboration tools, like LiveShare, and the ability to support various programming languages through extensions significantly boost my programming capabilities. The software's ability to assist in debugging by clearly showing logs is another aspect I find helpful. All these features make Visual Studio Code a one-stop solution for my development needs, ensuring that it positively impacts both my productivity and efficiency. What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I find that while Visual Studio Code is generally lightweight, its performance can degrade when dealing with many extensions or large projects. This slowdown under heavy workloads can be frustrating. I believe having a built-in performance monitor or an optimization assistant could significantly help maintain speed and responsiveness. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visual Studio for Python Developement"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

One unique strength of Visual Studio is its IntelliCode-powered suggestions—it's more than just IntelliSense. It learns from my own coding patterns and recommends context-aware code completions based on ML models trained on millions of GitHub repos. This subtly increases my speed and confidence when navigating unfamiliar APIs or large enterprise codebases.

Also, the Live Share feature stands out for real-time collaboration. I can pair-program or debug with teammates remotely without even pushing my code—a real game-changer for hybrid teams. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio’s biggest drawback for me is its project system rigidity. It still feels deeply tied to its .sln and .csproj files, making it harder to work on polyglot or containerized microservices architectures without awkward workarounds or extensions. Compared to editors like VS Code or JetBrains Rider, its support for non-Microsoft stacks can feel like an afterthought.

Also, it’s resource-intensive—on modest machines, builds and IDE load times can be noticeably sluggish, especially on large solutions. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient, customizable, and lightweight code editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code stands out for its lightning-fast performance and rich extension ecosystem. I love how easily I can set up a development environment with support for multiple languages like JavaScript, Python, and Go. The Git integration, intelligent code suggestions, and debugging tools make development seamless. The UI is clean and intuitive, and it runs smoothly even on mid-range systems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Sometimes, installing too many extensions can slow down the startup time. Also, while it’s a powerful editor, it can’t completely replace a full-fledged IDE for larger enterprise projects. Memory usage can spike with multiple large files open, and certain updates occasionally break extension compatibility. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Efficient, Lightweight, and Feature-Rich Code Editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code is incredibly fast and responsive, even on low-end machines. It supports a wide range of programming languages, has an intuitive interface, and offers thousands of extensions for customization. Git integration, built-in terminal, IntelliSense, debugging tools, and code formatting features greatly improve productivity. Its real-time collaboration (Live Share) is also a major plus for team projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

While VS Code is powerful, it can occasionally become slow with too many extensions installed. Some features require additional setup or extensions which can be confusing for beginners. Also, for very large codebases, performance can lag compared to full IDEs like Visual Studio or IntelliJ. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
