Review Summary

Generated using AI from real user reviews
Users consistently praise Visual Studio Code for its lightweight performance and extensive customization options, which allow for a tailored coding experience across various programming languages. The built-in Git integration and IntelliSense features enhance productivity, making it a preferred choice for many developers. However, some users note that performance can decline when too many extensions are installed.

"The text editor that feels like an IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like that vsc is small and fast when compared to full IDE suites. The ability to load extensions that enhance what the environment can do help this feel like an end to end development suite, not a fancy text editor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The first and biggest gripe I have with vsc is that you cannot pull tabs in the editor out and place them on other screens in the same way you can with Visual Studio. Also, though it isn't entirely the fault of this development team, the extensions can de-stabilize the application or cause it to stop being responsive. One such issue seemed to happen for a while with the OmniSharp plugin for C#. It would update every so often and occasionally it would start consuming more resources than is healthy. "the best autocomplete system I know"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code, an excellent source code editor. Adopt Visual Studio Code as my editor for my codes, mainly for the integrations of GIT, Intellisense, the best autocomplete system I know. Its powerful compiler and debugger of errors, in which I have taken the advantage to develop applications and websites for Global Security Path. I had tried Sublime Text and it does not give me completely the functions that I have found with VSC, it is a powerful editor for any code and this can be done by adding the extensions so that I can interpret any encoding that you make. It is totally light, free and with each integration of extensions you can take full advantage of this editor, I am pleased at all times to be able to work with this software and implement it with my colleagues during any programming project. For 10 years immersed in the programming I discovered a number of applications that little by little covered what I was looking for, until I found VSCode, improvements for Javascript works excellently, and it's a pleasure to program it, since you get the results and you can work without problem with all its autocorrector, its predictions of content, browsers, code suggestions and script administrators. I worked for a while with Brackets and this caused me certain problems to compile some commands and even had the support of their community to treat them that some suggested me to use Sublime Text, I managed to change to Sublime but it was very limited what I could achieve and despite VSCode is something similar comes more complete with innumerable functions to develop and obtain phenomenal results Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Heavy. Its base is Electron (Chrome). It's practically like having an open browser. Not so fast. You notice a slight delay when you open files, move with the scroll or edit large files.

It does not work in terminal, although it does contain a terminal. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An Editor for Everyone. "
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Everything. yes, literally every feature of this editor is awesome. It can take couple of days to get used to visual studio code, but that would be worth it. Personally, I use zen coding, code refactoring, multiple select and live reload extension extensively. I have been using Visual studio code for application development using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. I have also used it for Angular applications, React applications and Vue JS applications.

TypeScript support is really good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Personally, nothing that I am aware of is disliked in Visual studio code. It is customizable and carter to the need of everyone. Plus the awesome community support and development teams is bringing cool features to this editor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Can't even remember how I used to write code before it..."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The ease of use, the extensibility and the sheer amount of functionality it provides!

With VSCode I can work in whatever language I need, it is quite easy to find language plugins.

Also, for me it is the best Clojure and Erlang code editor out there.

The integrated debugger works amazingly well for most languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It eats up a considerable amount of RAM, but that's a decent trade-off for the functionality you get. It would be nice to lower it though...

I use it on macos, so sometimes it feels a bit sluggish when resizing windows, disposing them, etc... I don't know if this is down to macos or to VSCode itself, but it would be nice if wouldn't act this way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
