"The Next IDE generation"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It basically started as a complement to Visual Studio for js projects, and ended up as the trend IDE. It provides the performance of a simple text editor and the characteristics of a great IDE like its older brother. The extension market covers any language and any tool, you can integrate it with anything a developer uses. Very well equipped for React / Angular / Net Core project and, at the same time, a fluid experience that adds productivity to your development. And you can also use it as a text editor for notes, documentation, markdown. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Comming from Microsoft, it is incrdible that it is not compatible with .Net Framework projects. Supports JS, python, PHP, anything, but not .Net Framework. For debugging tools, some features of his older brother are still missing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It is a perfect mix between lightweight IDE and text editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It is a perfect mix between a lightweight IDE and text editor. It allows many third-party plugins that accelerate the productivity of developers. Some features are especially powerful, such as editing multiple lines simultaneously and seen in other applications such as Sublime. It is integrated with git, shows IntelliSense of all known languages, automatically formats the code ... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

If you are used to notepad ++ or sublime, you may at first tend to not use it. Especially if you use more complete environments like Visual Studio that already implement the same serial features without the need for plugins. However, Visual Studio is constantly growing and is multiplatform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Develop your code and applications comfortably"

Visual studio code is a code editor that has unique features, its autocomplete is intelligent and learns as I write, in addition its interface is dark ideal for programming for hours, something I like about this editor is that it allows me to divide the screen and be able to open Several files at once. What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The installation of add-ons and additional options through the console is difficult and requires experience, when it seems to me an excellent tool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the best development text editors available today!"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It's great that there are so many extensions available to boost the functionality of this great text editor, Its also one of the fastest to load, I also use Atom.io for day to day tasks, but the speed of VSC beats Atom hands down. Also being able to use the built in terminal is another time saving feature that I love very much! No more changing directories in a stand alone terminal window..simpy open up the terminal in VSC and your ready to go in the project directory. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Sometimes the auto code formatting is a little off, when pasting code into the editor window, but this can be undone with cmd+z on my mac, to get it back to how it should be formatted. And sometimes the emmet tab function, fails to complete, but apart from that I think its perfect! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visual Studio Code / Review"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code is a modern programming editor made available free of charge by Microsoft for Windows, Linux, and OS X users. Compared to the competition, the program boasts a set of interesting functions, a well-designed graphical interface and lightness, and speed of operation. At first glance, the application does not differ significantly from what we are accustomed to by competitive solutions. The editor is equipped with a syntax coloring mechanism, displaying multiple tabs within a single window or a built-in file explorer, significantly improving the work on more complex projects. There were also search engine functions and support for graphic themes, allowing to adjust the appearance of the program to the individual preferences of the programmer. What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It's impossible to use this tool with big projects because of how long it takes to search for files. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Need a JS/Arduino IDE? Try VS Code, It's free"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

When I started learning Angular the instructor showed me VS Code. It was almost 3 years ago, from then I use it on a daily basis. I can't imagine working without it. Every JS project is done in VS Code, my hobby Arduino projects. It is free, open-source, has monthly updates and a large community Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The one thing I think is missing is the GUI designer for WinForms/WPF. Besides that everything is fine Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Code quickly and work more productively"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

With this editor I can program in a more efficient way, since it has an intelligent autocomplete, I can also see the syntax errors while writing, another important thing is that the visual studio code has integrated the git command with which I can manage my repositories of a simple way. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Its extensions are sometimes not what I expected, some also damage my custom settings, in addition to this, I have noticed that this editor is a bit of a lens. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"VS code goes beyond what is expected of a text editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

If you ask me, Visual Studio code is a lightweight open source IDE because almost any feature you'd expect in a web-oriented tool like webstorm and phpstorm is present on visual studio code. What's even amazing is the fact that vscode is really light compared to the tools mentioned and yet it does not compromise on the features it offers

VScode has one of if not the most rapidly developed plugin ecosystem where you'll find thousands of plugins most of which satisfy almost any usecase.

There's also a default typescript integration on vscode which is actually developed by microsoft so you can imagine how solid this feature is.

vscode's integrated terminal is probably one of the features i use the most. I like the idea of running commands from right within one tool without having to constantly switch between multiple tools Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Even though it is lighter than popular IDE offerings, it does poorly compared to popular text editors. It is slower and has a longer startup time.

At the same time, running multiple instances of vscode will use up a lot of computer memory making the editor something of a RAM hog. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best GUI code editor I've tried"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code has matured in a sense that there's a a lot of plug-ins available. You can develop with literally just the VS Code without going back and forth to the terminal for example, to upload a commit to a git repository, etc. Can handle lint checks very well too. Most importantly it supports all programming language you can think of. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Not much database plugin available, or at least the stable/working ones. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
