"Most Versatile Code Editor, with minimum system resource usage"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is very lightweight. Currently, VS Code has many extensions in the marketplace, even for free, which will enhance the performance of VSCode, and, to be honest, VSCode provides almost all the features like Intellij, Visual Studio IDEs can provide. And especially, it offers support for nearly all programming languages, therfore offering much flexibility for the programmers. Also it has multi window capability, which can be used to view mutiple files side by side in the same screen. This makes the prgrammer very efficient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The UI looks bit complicated for a first time users,as its hard to search for some options/tools or features right away.

Sometimes might get laggy or not responding if you are working with a large project, like .NET solution with multiple projects Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Code management tool with amazing visualization."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Its Ui is the best thing as it also provides color differentiation for different keywords to visualize the code easily. I can also run commands on its terminal only and see the output on its console only. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I have to add extensions and plugins to support other languages manually. I cannot club my projects inside VS code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Microsoft's free IDE solution to the dev community"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I can't still comprehend the fact that vs code is free to use and is made by Microsoft. It's massive library/extension/package is just mind blowing. The regular updates which we get on to those extensions are just convenient. Even the git & terminal integration is so smooth and easy to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It has very little downside to using it but still if I want to knitpick anything out of it that would be opening of multiple terminals if already one is open. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visual Studio Code : The Portable IDE with dark theme and colors with all advanced plugins"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The default dark color theme is one power-saving, nonglaring, and more extended working piece. You can work for hours without getting stressed with all color combinations for keywords and functions, and easy to scroll and load hefty files in a formatted /unformatted way. Well, this is just the beginning.

The significant advantage is it does not need installations, and you can unzip on a windows os machine and start working on the ide. It has a smaller memory footprint and is very dast to open and close. It is a very cool thing if you have a non-admin machine where installations need permissions which is time taking and process-oriented stuff. And you can add, remove the plugins as you go from one language to another, which just requires a simple restart.

The easy-to-use command editor helps faster path change, installation of packages, and other debug steps. Searching across the files is very easy, and it gives the exact navigation with proper highlights for errors. If your language of choice is angular or react or similar to SPA-based language, this IDE is a charm and first choice. Be it java or opening a formatted JSON file, this comes super handy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The IDE is all more than my work expectations and technically does not have any drawbacks for developers. But some hiccups might come while git merges and git operations or, for that matter, lookups or typeaheads. Some of the plugins are not available, and it might be challenging to work around them. Local History or reverting the changes sometimes may not be that deep as expected. Since it's lightweight and handy, so many debug features might not be available and may not be helpful. "Use VS Code for you next dev project"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Modular architecture. just install what you use, Available for all the major current OS's today. It supports all of the current popular languages. Doesnt have a large footprint. Probably the best free IDE available. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Debugger... I spend most of my time in its big brother Visual Studio so I am spoiled with its debugger. It did take me a little bit to adapt to how it handles projects but no deal breakers Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Review of Visual Studio Code after using it for 6 months"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The best thing I like about Visual Studio Code is its auto-save function. It has a very clean and easy-to-use User Interface. It has awesome integration with Git. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It has high ram consumption at times. It takes a long time to boot the software, which feels frustrating at times. It does not support development for Mac/IOS. Its default shortcut keys are not too good.

Due to these reasons, I discontinued the use of Visual Studio Code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
