**What do you like best about Vevox?**

I like that it's particularly easy to use, and it's particularly easy to teach, which is very important. I appreciate that there's very little time needed for setting it up and using it with people in real time. It takes a very short amount of time to create a session or a poll. I also like that the displays are dynamic and engaging, and there's a multitude of formats available for polls.

**What do you dislike about Vevox?**

I don't like the way the user interface is going. It seems to be getting increasingly complicated, which is detracting from one of the strongest features of Vevox, which is how easy it is to use.

**What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vevox solves student disengagement in online and offline contexts. It's easy to use and teach, quick to set up and run sessions, and offers dynamic, engaging displays with various poll formats.

**What do you like best about Vevox?**

I use Vevox to facilitate interaction and engagement with staff development during my training sessions at the university. I particularly like the variety of question types it offers, which cater to diverse needs and preferences. Creating polls, including asynchronous ones, is extremely straightforward, making it easy to involve everyone. The presence of features like the present view, leader board, and timer keeps students engaged and makes the sessions more interactive. Additionally, the initial setup was seamless, especially with the ease of logging in through Microsoft, which enhances the user experience by simplifying access.

**What do you dislike about Vevox?**

I find the process of opening and closing questions in Vevox to be clunky. It involves pressing open and close repeatedly, which disrupts the flow, especially in comparison to similar polling tools. This is likely due to the versatility of Vevox and its various functionalities such as waiting for all responses, the option to show/hide results, and the ability to move to any question.

**What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I use Vevox for formative assessment and to break the ice in classes, with easy poll creation and engaging features like leaderboards, improving student interaction.

**What do you like best about Vevox?**

Vevox has become an essential part of my teaching toolkit. What I love most is how versatile it is—I’ve used it in all sorts of creative ways, especially to help students develop analytical thinking. One of my favourite approaches is using live polls to collect data from the class in real time. We then display the results and analyse them together, which opens up rich discussions about patterns, outliers, and interpretation. For example, I used Vevox to scaffold a class about sex education, and students were fascinated to see how their peers rated their comfort with the topic and the sex education they had received at school. The polls stimulated a rich discussion about the politics of sex education. Students are more engaged when they see their own responses reflected in the data, and the anonymity feature helps ensure everyone feels safe contributing. 

I also use Vevox for a "pub quiz" style review at the end of semester. In teams, students compete to lock in the correct answer and score points. It's a great way to facilitate exam prep while concluding the module with a fun social activity.

Highly recommended for educators who want to make their sessions more interactive, inclusive, and intellectually stimulating.

**What do you dislike about Vevox?**

While I really value Vevox and use it regularly, I would like to have the option of displaying survey data in the same way we can display live poll results. The customer support is great though and they welcome feedback, so hopefully this is something that will be coming soon!

**What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vevox is solving several key challenges I face in the classroom—especially around student engagement, inclusivity, and real-time data literacy. One of the biggest problems it addresses is how to get every student involved in discussions, not just the most confident or vocal ones. The anonymity feature is a game-changer here—it creates a safer space for students to share their thoughts, questions, and opinions without fear of judgment.

It also solves the problem of making abstract analytical skills more concrete. By using Vevox polls to collect live data from the class, I can immediately visualise that data and guide students through the process of interpreting it together. This turns passive learning into active, collaborative inquiry and helps students see themselves as knowledge producers. And students love it - Vevox consistently comes up as one of their favourite aspects of the course in evaluations. 

Overall, Vevox helps me create a more interactive, inclusive, and intellectually engaging learning environment—and that benefits both my students and my own teaching practice.

I really like how Vevox allows instructors to adapt their teaching in real time so that they can immediately get a sense of what students understand (or don't) and adjust on the fly.

The PowerPoint add-in has been a bit unreliable. While it’s a great idea in theory, it has been a bit glitchy and problematic (add-in randomly disappearing) which has made some of instructors hesitant to rely on it during live sessions.

Vevox helps with student participation, especially in larger classes where it’s hard to hear from everyone. It gives students a low-barrier way to contribute, which leads to more honest responses and broader engagement.

Tool with which I can create a live word cloud from 200+ students. Individual words can be deactivated by me so that nonsensical comments are not displayed. Moderated questions that are approved by an employee. Usage in multiple languages.

**What do you dislike about Vevox?**

The translation does not work for texts in the Q&A and in the word cloud. It remains a mix of English and the set language. This makes it unclear for the user in which language they should respond.

I want to gather the mood live at an information event. Collect questions from the audience anonymously, which lowers the inhibition threshold, but also increases the likelihood of nonsensical questions.

**What do you like best about Vevox?**

I find Vevox to be a comprehensive and impactful tool, especially valuable for my lectures on spirituality. The platform's ability to make teaching more interesting and engaging stands out, as it allows students to actively participate and interact with the content. I particularly appreciate the rating aspect and the word cloud feature, which facilitate engagement by enabling students to compare scores and express their definitions of spirituality. These features keep students active and enhance their learning experience. Setting up Vevox was seamless thanks to the excellent free online sessions offered by knowledgeable colleagues like Kyle Freeman. Additionally, the integration with PowerPoint as an add-on is quite impressive, adding to its usability. It's also worth noting that as part of our university's toolkit, Vevox is free for our use, which adds great value. Overall, its ease of use and comprehensive nature make it a tool I am very happy to use, and I would recommend it to others without hesitation.

**What do you like best about Vevox?**

I like Vevox because it enables interacting with a large group of students. Even in a lecture with more than 200 students, they can express their ideas through Vevox and share them via screen display. It really allows students to actively contribute rather than just passively listening. The initial setup was easy.

**What do you dislike about Vevox?**

I would like to have students respond to multiple number of questions at a time. I am aware on survey mode, we can do that. But would like to be able to do that on poll mode.

**What do you like best about Vevox?**

We used Vevox for an event at the Royal Geographical Society in London, with both in-person and online audiences, and it worked flawlessly. The interactive Q&A was exactly what we needed — attendees could simply scan a QR code to join, and the moderation tools made it easy to manage which questions appeared on screen. We really liked that moderation could be delegated to others, and that we could spotlight and control content from a secondary device, meaning I didn’t have to be up in the AV suite during the event. The ability to customise what was shown on participant devices and on the main screen gave us a fully branded experience that looked fantastic. Everything ran smoothly and reliably — we’d highly recommend Vevox for any hybrid or live event needing seamless audience engagement.

  ### 15. Using Vevox in the classroom (insight from a Uni lecturer)

**What do you like best about Vevox?**

Vevox is pretty user-friendly and also aesthetically pleasing when using the web/online version. Depending on my teaching schedule I would say I use Vevox a couple times a week; definitely each time I have a lecture! I like using it not just for real-time learning checkpoints in the classroom (very handy to see where my students are at), but also, it can be good for asking e.g. students' input/thoughts via word clouds and also for responses to survey questions (even course feedback). Thanks to Fraser Hill for recently reaching out for a 1-on-1 as well, as it can be really helpful to talk through things and also hear about the latest updates (rather than always feel like you have to try to find time to read up on them via a weblink). I'm looking forward to using the new-ish 'before/after comparisons' option!

**What do you dislike about Vevox?**

They do regular updates and they also do try to check in with 1-on-1 chats, so if there is anything I don't like I can always mention it, rather than 'live with it'. One thing I personal don't like is the aesthetics of a Vevox poll (MCQ style) when using their plug-in, in PowerPoint. It still looks better than what we as an institution had before (competitor's software!), but I do understand there are some restrictions to what Vevox can and can't do in this respect. Just to note, they are working on it, is my understanding. In any case, I choose to share (on the second screen) the web version of my Vevox session for the students and it works pretty well. If anyone is interested, student feedback is pretty positive for use of Vevox in the classroom: students usually say it's 'fun', 'engaging', 'helps assess understanding', 'helps identify knowledge gaps', and so on.

**What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

First and foremost, it helps with the drop in attention as the clocks ticks on during a given lecture. No matter how engaging we try to be as educators, a 9am start time can be tricky to navigate. In-class 'fun' tools, such as Vevox, really helps me to create a time-out and sort of hit the refresh button. Interestingly, I have noticed (from a quick headcount) that not all students present in the room may log into Vevox (and this is something I am interested in exploring further), but engagement is nonetheless high with this tool and the variety of Qs we as educators can ask via Vevox can be really helpful. One of the things I like to do, as an example, is check student's knowledge and sense of Déjà vu. Yep; I like to usually for revision polls, re-use previous Vevox Qs, from earlier on in term, and then drop hints that they've seen this before... This can help remind them of content we've already gone through, and I hope, the power of (or simply a good reason for) attending lectures in person.

**What do you like best about Vevox?**

The overall ease of use of the platform, along with the ease of accessibility to user accounts make the general aspects of integrating Vevox within teaching and other activities straightforward, and much better than competitor products to which I've had access. Further to this, the range of question types which are available within the platform ensure that the use of Vevox within sessions provides real value, and from a teaching perspective, allows the tool to fully support learning, and offer formative assessment in a manner which is of real value.

**What do you dislike about Vevox?**

There is very little that I currently dislike about the platform, however, the integration for PowerPoint could be easier to use in some aspects, and most particularly in relation to the matching of slide formatting, however, I'm conscious that this may well be outside of the provider's control!

Further to this, it provides a straightforward and effective way to gather feedback and other important information from audiences without negatively impacting the flow of delivery, or adding complex technical challenges.

I use Vevox for interactive tutorial sessions and it encouraged student attendance, got students engaged, and allowed me to see how the cohort was progressing. It's easy to use, and I can store the results to look back at them later. I also enjoy the ability for students to answer questions anonymously. The initial setup was fairly easy, thanks to the step-by-step guides that help you.

The link to PowerPoint could be better - could have the option to create PowerPoint slides without having to do them online first.

I love that Vevox is so simple to use for class participants, my students can engage with it and participate in my class with their phones or laptops. This makes it very accessible, and allows me as an educator to incorporate it into my class seamlessly. I use Vevox to ask students to answer example questions during lectures, this keeps them engaged and allows them to test their understanding. The anonymous feature allows students to engage without being anxious about being embarrassed if they select the wrong answer. It also really benefits me because I can quickly see how students are following along with the content I teach, and adjust my class accordingly in real time.

**What do you dislike about Vevox?**

As a contract professor, I do not have the job security or financial stability to purchase additional subscriptions. I wish the free feature had a few more options, being able to add images to my multiple choice questions would be great!

Vevox helps me implement classroom engagement in a risk free, anonymous way for my students. Instead of just asking a classroom of 50 students to think about the answer and hoping someone raises their hand, Vevox provides a live way for my students to test their knowledge. Switching from Turning Technologies, I find Vevox much more user-friendly, and the browser-based aspect is a plus. The initial setup was simple, just requiring an institutional login.

It's an intuitive system which allows for anyone to set up sessions. I can sort a variety of methods to capture data and create a report straight after the session ends!

The front end for participants is also easy to use so when we run sessions, there is no confusion as to how to use the platform.

Customer support for any of our needs is also fantastic. They're helpful and very prompt in response.

What I like best about Vevox is how it empowers every student to have a voice. It creates a safe, anonymous space where learners feel comfortable engaging – whether that’s through polls, quizzes, or the Q&A function. It’s especially useful for encouraging contributions from quieter students who might not usually speak up in a traditional classroom setting.

I also really value how easy it is to use, both for me and for the students. It integrates smoothly into my sessions and allows me to adapt my teaching in real time based on their responses. It’s a brilliant tool for making learning more interactive, inclusive, and responsive.

Vevox’s anonymous response system breaks down those barriers, encouraging honest input from everyone, not just the most confident voices in the room. This leads to more representative feedback and richer class discussions.

It’s also addressing the issue of real-time understanding. With live polls and quizzes, I can instantly assess whether students are grasping the content and adapt my teaching on the spot. This has helped reduce knowledge gaps and made my sessions more responsive and effective.

The work they put into developing new features - for example the new PowerPoint add-in is, on the whole, very intuitive and straightforward to use, and looks good. Support from our Vevox contacts is great - quick, friendly, enthusiastic and helpful.

**What do you dislike about Vevox?**

The browser based version isn't so easy to use, and most people in our organisation need support using it the first time. The interface to create the questions is fine, but the multiple ways of starting the presentation can be confusing for some people. However, once you've got the hang of it, it's ok.

It provides a way to check understanding from large audiences and increase engagement.

It's extremely flexible and developments are constantly being released. There is also a frequent request for feedback and development ideas which means that it feels like a two way system where the customers are being listened too.

I don't think there is anything to say on this front. As a polling solution its's very good and it integrates with Moodle so we couldn't ask for more.

**What do you like best about Vevox?**

I like that Vevox allows student to engage and interact with peers through Polls when used for quizzes in class sessions. This gives an opportunity to see aspects that may be confusing to students and how they can address their learning. Explanations can be shown on screen and later shared for them to refer to later on. Students like the multiple choice questions; even with multiple answers; ranking, pin on image and surveys also can be used as offline quizzes for students to do on their own time.

**What do you dislike about Vevox?**

A minor downside would be when having multiple questions (poll questions) in a session; there is a need to open the session and clear responses before they can be re-opened again which can disrupt the flow when these have not been set-up earlier on.

**What problems is Vevox solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Vevox provides a platform to have audience engagement especially in a class when students may be shy to answer questions through oral participation. Students often like digital interaction in which they can have a record of later to use for revision.

Vevox has a great selection of audience interaction features, it's easy to use, and very reliable. The app is regularly updated to add new features. We work with lots of different clients that have varied requirements. Most of the time Vevox can be used no matter who the client is because of the broad range of functionality.

In the past there were some features missing from Vevox that would mean we need to use different apps depending on the requirements. However most of these have been addressed with updates. We would like some more flexibility in the customisation options so that we can integrate the audience display more seamlessly into our clients' slide content

Some lecturers have experienced a flickering cursor when using the Vevox PowerPoint add-in on Windows systems. This behaviour appears to be related to how Office 365 add-ins operate within the Windows environment and is not specific to Vevox. While this issue can be distracting, it doesn't affect the add-in's functionality. According to Vevox's support documentation, this is a known behaviour and does not impact the overall performance of the presentation.
