**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

The software is easy to use, easy to set up, and useful as an internal or external Product Manual. (My company uses it for both.) It's easy for users to search and there is also an option to add keywords or typical phrases used in Search.

**What do you dislike about ScreenSteps?**

There are some formatting limits but nothing that has prevented us from creating a well-rounded Knowledge Base for our clients.

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Tracking processes and procedures has become easier since using ScreenSteps. If someone needs to fill in for a missing staff member, we have instructions in place to guide them.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

ScreenSteps has almost everything you can think of for a knowledge management system. We chose ScreenSteps because it includes knowledge articles, checklists, workflows (that guide the user to the correct outcome), training courses, and—most importantly—a Chrome extension. The Chrome extension in particular allows users to search for articles overlaid over the web-based tool they're using. This makes it much more accessible, rather than having to look for help in another app. We can even link help articles to specific URLs—using the "channels" feature—to make it even easier for users to find guidance on the tools they're using.
Our knowledge base on ScreenSteps has become a central hub of our business. We're constantly using ScreenSteps, and hardly a day goes by without us thinking of new information to add to it.

**What do you dislike about ScreenSteps?**

I'd love to see a feature to allow us to re-use content. So, for example, dynamically embedding paragraphs from one help article into another article to save us duplicating content.

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We specifically wanted a system to speed up training new team members, and to allow us to quickly and confidently delegate new tasks to existing team members. This is allowing us to share knowledge, experience, tips and techniques with new members of the team in a structured, consistent, and less daunting way.

Easy of use for make documents and for search information.

Maybe the price can start with a smaller range for small companies.
Also the missing way to do a good backup of the information we store. Will be great to have the ability to export as PDF everything in a recurrent way, so we can use that info as a backup.

I sole the problem of making similar process with diferent people and with Screensts I can make it in a way every body follow the same tasks.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

I love everything about ScreenSteps.  Let me count the ways:

Customer Service. Top-notch service that is super responsive by email.  If extra help is needed, it's very easy to schedule a quick zoom session with them.  In the first meeting we had with ScreenSteps, we were introduced to the team,  not just one point of contact.  

Ease of Use.  As someone who rarely reads documentation and just likes to jump into things, it's fairly intuitive how to use the platform.  The company did not over-engineer a product with too many bells and whistles that add little value and instead more confusion.  However, if I got stuck on something...

Support.  The ability to easily watch digestible videos and quickly find tutorials and easy-to-understand instructions were all found within their help platform.  Their documentation is consistent and easy to follow.  I suppose this shouldn't be a surprise as they are masters of arranging this type of content and use case!  I also found their articles very helpful when thinking about how to approach a use case I had in mind that was outside normal SOPs.  And if I got lost, the support team was a quick email away.  The ScreenSteps team has been great in getting me back on track.

Consistency.  I like that we can set up the site with our preferred brands and make our templates, but contributors and authors don't have to think about these settings: everything is consistent across the board from fonts to colors to call-outs.  This allows the writer to focus on their expertise and ensure their knowledge is understood and not distracted by jarring formatting changes from one article or chapter to the next.

Versatility.  This product, in general, is a godsend for an organization that is primed to start proper documentation and SOPs to ensure the company creates as much consistency and process as possible.  It also helps save onboarding time, fewer errors, and the checklist/workflow/etc features help make the learning process sticky and applicable to more than one specific use case.  

More than SOPs. I know we originally purchased this application for organized, streamlined documentation and SOPs, but I also use it for creating and documenting our organization's Cyber Security Framework's controls, policies, and procedures.  This will easily help make our annual audit more accessible and accountable to those involved in enforcing policies.  We plan on using this for other organization needs and the public site will be utilized in the future for our regional sites.

**What do you dislike about ScreenSteps?**

There is nothing I don't like about ScreenSteps.  This is a fantastic product and I will remember to bring it into every organization I go to!

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a centralized knowledge repository where SOPs can be documented in a consistent way with specific controls, permissions, and accountability checking.  
Also, a technology risk management framework was also incorporated in ScreenSteps to outline controls, policies, and procedures so that the content and source documentation can be easily referenced by staff and auditors.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

What I like best about ScreenSteps, is that it makes it fast and easy to create consistent product documentation.  Authors do not have to worry about fonts and colours and line-spacing, or how best to format call-out boxes.  And grabbing, incorporating, annotating and updating screenshots is simple.  Authors can focus on sharing their knowledge, not formatting it.

ScreenSteps support is great too - the guys know their stuff and are very responsive.

**What do you dislike about ScreenSteps?**

There's nothing I don't like about ScreenSteps.  The biggest item on my wishlist is for integration with our customer support software (Intercom), e.g. integrating with live chat so that KB articles could be suggested to customers (at the time of writing, I believe there is integration with Zendesk, but we don't use ZD).

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use ScreenSteps to create product documentation for our B2B SaaS product.  Our ScreenSteps knowledge base contains all the information our customers need to get started with our product. And whenever we get 'how to' questions from our customers, we ensure our KB is updated to make customer support more efficient over time.

Our KB has become one of our most valued assets.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

I use ScreenSteps to record the many hundreds of steps done for long, complex admin and upgrade processes of complex databases and core business system landscapes.

Screen captures are incredibly fast, with no cut and paste required, one keyboard shortcut and a swipe of the mouse selects the image area and drops it into the document.  Image annotations, document structuring, and text blocks are easily created.  The toolkit is stripped down to the bare minimum for fast ramp-up and ease of use when you are tired and grumpy and things are going wrong.

The annotation tools (boxes, arrows, and numbered dots!)  allow me to build a detailed document with chapters and sections as I go through the procedure, with no need for subsequent reworking. When I finish the job, the document is ready for me to review to produce a condensed activity report, or to hand to the customer, complete with explanatory text and annotated screen captures (all created during billable time!)

Customers love that I create these documents - they see it as evidence of a safe, methodical, risk-averse approach that is concerned with protecting their investment in their systems, and making ~them~ look good to their users.  

These documents are sometimes used by the customer's staff for self-education and auditing of my work, and very occasionally to confirm that the number of hours I bill is reasonable.  I also use the ScreenSteps transcripts when something goes wrong partway through the process (usually around 4am on a Sunday.). I record absolutely every step including server logins (so I know which admin account I used) and every tiny pop-up so I can easily backtrack to find the cause of most problems.

If you do server maintenance, you absolutely should use ScreenSteps to document everything you do for subsequent analysis in the event of "unexpected results".  It will save you hours of forensic analysis and probably hours of unexpected downtime too.  Use it to record what ~you~ will need to troubleshoot problems that arise in the future.

Nothing - it does precisely what I need.

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I record the steps of complex installations and upgrades of SAP systems and related databases for troubleshooting, post-mortem analysis, and billing justification.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

I train a large customer support team (both phone agents and an offline team). The two applications are great - the Chrome Extension, because it can pop into any of our tools easily (without taking up valuable real estate on an agent's screen) - and the web app for folks that want to see a new process in the full screen. As an instructional designer that is part of a larger team of instructional designers, I love the array of tools such as screen capture and the editing tools that are already built-in, which means that we have consistency in our images, arrows, fonts, etc., no matter who decides to author a process. There are just so many helpful tools that are included with this product. 

The best part of working with Screensteps, though, is their wonderful support team. They have already built us some custom features and the product is constantly improving. They listen to our feedback. I just can't say enough great things about their product and team. Adding Screensteps was a great decision - one we would make again and again.

**What do you dislike about ScreenSteps?**

There is nothing to dislike, really. If we want to add a new feature, we can put in a feature request to have it added and go from there.

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our company has a lot of long, complicated processes that involve multiple steps (sometimes as many as 20!). For these types of articles, the agents love the checklists. They allow an agent to easily follow more complicated processes that have multiple steps. We can also delineate the major steps from the minor steps so the article itself is not overwhelming and can be used by both new agents and tenured agents (who may already know how to do 4/5 of the steps from memory). In a checklist article, the agent can check off the boxes as they go so that they don't lose their place while speaking with a client. It's just been so, so helpful.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

The best feature I like about screen steps is that it is Searchable. You can add keywords in the document to search, and the user can search the documents based on the keyword. 
We can organize the documents based on Channel, Module, Chapter, and Articles. 
We can Publish and Unpublish the article, ask the owner or SMEs to approve the document content. 
We can use the tool in a web application or a desktop app. I can attach videos, Images and use Rich text to create the documentation.

**What do you dislike about ScreenSteps?**

We can not deploy the Screensteps on all of the devices. We wish we could use it on a mobile device as well.

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our documents were here and there in google docs, words, and in someone's email. With Screen steps, we have all the documents in one place and properly organized. It is easy to manage for the administrator and easy to use for the staff.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

We've been using Screensteps since 2014, and since we migrated our support portal to Zendesk in 2017, we have been pushing ScreenSteps content to the Zendesk help center with ease. ScreenSteps allows you to make sure to have a consistent structure and look and feel across your articles.

While we did run into an image resolution issue at some point, it turns out that, when we reported this, the fine people at ScreenSteps decided to dedicate some time to address our specific issue within about a month's time.

Well, nothing really, as the one time we ran into a problem, it was fixed later on.

We create tons of product documentation and training materials for our Salesforce-based Volunteer Management Application, "HandsOn Connect".  Screensteps is an invaluable tool that has allowed us to quickly produce best-in-class product documentation that our clients rave about.

Screensteps makes it extremely quick and easy to produce high-quality documentation. It streamlines the process of organizing information, adding screenshots, and quickly annotating them. It allows us to organize documentation into manuals, chapters, and articles and makes searching for content intuitive and straightforward for users. 

In 13 years of writing product documentation, I've not found a better tool for creating and maintaining training/support materials. The tech support is terrific, and the product is constantly improving. It saves me tons of time and makes creating quality documentation a breeze. Its one tool I simply can't do without!  Highly recommended.

Whenever I've encountered a missing feature or run into a problem - I've found the support team quick to respond and implement positive change.  I can't think of any negatives.

Don't hesitate.  I've found no better solution than this for product documentation and training.

It makes the organization of documentation easy. Integrated desktop client to manage annotated images is fantastic, search makes finding content super-easy, great support from the Team when required. I've been using ScreenSteps for many years have never been inclined to go elsewhere.

Any items which I didn't like were addressed in the new version so currently there are no standouts.

The search tool is a fast and reliable source to locate requested information that is key when working in a 24/7 global call center. Also, Screen Steps can be made available in SFDC where you do not require a swivel chair process whe handling a call interaction.

The ease of setup and use can provide ROI on your investment.

Working in a 24/7 call center it is difficult to locate required information searching pages in books or opening other systems. All of the required information needed to support the call center can be located in Screen Steps, whether if me a manual or a quick link.

We use ScreenSteps for our Salesforce-based Knowledge Base. I expected to like the software and that I would find it easy to use. But the speedy customer service and follow-up have been the most impressive. Kudos to Greg and his team!

I haven't run into any problems with Screensteps.

We are customizing Salesforce by moving many of our internal processes to the platform. We created help modules for internal use so that all staff hit the ground running. We also use the Experience Cloud for a Customer Portal. We link helpful articles there, accessible to our customers, using ScreenSteps. Staff are cross-training colleagues using the help articles and have become reliant upon them to keep up with the latest changes to internal processes.

I'm racking my brain to think of something.  We've used the tool for years and any issues we may have had were resolved with new development.

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

SOPs - For our staff, we have our procedures documented with step by step directions.  This is used during their onboarding and as a resource.  
The bulk of our step by step directions are geared towards our clients that use our community in Salesforce.
I also upload a copy of our weekly newsletter for a searchable resource and imbed the link to the recordings of our weekly training.

I would certainly recommend any business large or small to talk to the Screensteps team to assess if their excellent software would be able to provide the document management and training outcomes desired.

It can create training collateral that is available to users within the application. Once created, editing and managing the content is simple to do and can be controlled by multiple contributors. Once core training articles have been created they can then be used to develop courses that can be role or task specific.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

Migrating to this new platform was super easy which supported a seamless rollout. Feedback received from our end users has been consistently positive providing our staff the ability to quickly find information  to do their job.   Most importantly, the vendor is very supportive and responsive with meeting our needs whether it's customization or considering new enhancements to make an already great product even better.

ScreenSteps can be used to house documents but there are limitations

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Ability to create different manuals for specific areas but have them housed in one location.  Providing a very effective Search function for end users to quickly find what they are looking for.  Administering the site is easy requiring minimal training allowing many levels within the organization to be content authors.  Great functons like instant screen captures, workflows and checklists creates a great user experience.  In additional, the platforms provides great analytics which helps us to continue to improve the tool for our end users.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

I like being able to easily and quickly create documents that serve as step-by-step instructions for my clients. I can create user manuals as well, but I find that the smaller docs, that a client can print and use next to their computer, is just the best!

**What do you dislike about ScreenSteps?**

There's a learning curve with Screensteps. The documentation is all there and easy to find and read, but some parts of it are not 100% intuitive.

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Onboarding clients into their Salesforce implementation, keeping track of the steps I take to solve problems with a client's Salesforce. Teaching myself how some new functionality works and keeping track of how I am using it.

Screensteps make the creation of knowledge base articles simple and easy. Among other features, the autonumbering of steps and ability to re-arrange and have the auto numbering update automatically is a higher timesaver!

The Web version is a little more difficult to use than the desktop, but great for quick edits and updates.

We create knowledge articles for our software users across the globe. having self-help articles on use has made a tremendous difference in handling our support tickets as well as a decrease due to the self-help articles on our support site for all clients.

The pricing is getting a bit steep, when considering that maybe 50% of all users never even read an entry but you must give them access anyhow.

Easy to use and consistency in layout helps to create uniform procedure descriptions throughout your entire organization.

If you want to benefit all the editting features of screensteps, you will need a local editing tool on your PC.

Before, our instructions on procedures were published in all kinds of formats (.dcox, .pdf, . other apps). There was no uniform layout. URL referrals to instructions were mostly dead, and the maintenance of the  instructions due to updates were not implemented.

The desktop app. Hands down it's the best. It has everything I need.

The web editor. It's not as fully featured as the desktop editing tool. There are a lot of things you just can't do on it. I have communicated specific areas where it falls down to the Screensteps team. They are a group of really awesome and responsive people.

It's a powerful tool. It offers far more than other sites do, and their support staff is great. If you need a custom solution their interface doesn't offer, all you have to do is contact their support team and explain what you need. They'll come back with a solution or a workaround.

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed help documentation that walks users through our internal applications. These docs needed annotated images, videos, etc and the end result needs to be outputted to the web. Screensteps offered that.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

It's hard to decide if I like the software or the support best.
For sure one thing I like is that its so easy to use, even our customers can do it.  Setting up a new users is a simple as adding their credentials and sending them an email.  Rarely do new users have any questions about what to do. 

But the support (the two or three times I've needed it) is fantastic.  Response times are fast, and only take one request.  In word superb.

**What do you dislike about ScreenSteps?**

What do I dislike?  For me, nothing. The Screensteps team seems to always ahead of what we need.  I'm sure that's lots of stuff we still don't take advantage of.

**Recommendations to others considering ScreenSteps:**

Don't wait, do it today.

About 10 years ago we were implementing our software for a new customer.  I had a team onsite.  Their CEO called me screaming, "YOUR DOCUMENTATION SUCKS!!!" Of course he was right. I told him I had a plan to fix it.  I had just seen the Screensteps demo presented at an Apple event online; I signed up.  I think we are one of the first customers.  

Anyway, within a few weeks we had rewritten our entire user document set in ScreenSteps and presented it to the customer.  The result: Happy, happy, happy.

We've both been using it ever since.

Creating an easy to navigate, easy to understand knowledge base on Zendesk is easy with Screensteps, we can create more articles in a shorter period of time, and incorporate gifs and screenshots easily

Since we have two main users in Screensteps, we need both of them to review each other's updates. This process is easy with Screensteps.

Like how we can organize chapters of content. It's easy for us to organize and therefore easy for our clients to search on the user-facing end. Also, my entire team can work on different articles within ScreenSteps at once.

Not that intuitive on how to edit/ improve the design. Oftentimes it takes a while to train a new employee on how to use it and what the features are. Tried changing a color of a header box and found it near impossible.

It was a no brainer for us to go with Screen Steps when searching for a platform to host our Help Center.

I love love love ScreenSteps! It's been a life-saver. We used to rely on various wikis and random one-off printed documents to get the information across to our trainees. This has made it 1000 times more wonderful. We keep adding articles and they have all been so easy to get set up and provide so much functionality.

Absolutely nothing. I'm not technically paying the bill, so I can't complain about the pricing, but even that seems reasonable. Especially for what we get.

It seems to go back and forth - they don't keep their web-based editor and desktop editor at the same speeds - one always seems to be not working, which is very frustrating.

Make sure it does what you want from Day 1 - if it doesn't, but they say it should, just working on some issues, that would be a red flag based on my experiences.

First it opened my eyes to the power of documentation could have on my business.  When it comes to delegating tasks to others you need to be able to have training in place to be able to educate them on how to do the tasks.  I like how fast  you can create documentation with images and less text.  The best part is when technology changes you can edit jut the section that need to be changed, you don't have to create a whole new document,  like you would have to if it were video.  This is a great tool to go along with your video training.

Well I dislike the monthly plan, but you get what you pay for.

There's nothing that even comes close to help you create documentation for digital training.

I realized the problem with training is that most processes are not documented.  This solves an internal problem by allowing you to create documentation quickly.  So as you are doing a task you can also document the process.  This allows for others to do the tasks just as you would have done, without waiting time trying to figure how.

Neat features, easy screenshops, fantastic markup for photos including blur, annotate, numbering, highlighting and more. Text allows for easy formatting/headers/expandable text blogs, all with a few clicks. It lets me write awesome documentation.

Nothing, I love this product. It has been continually improving since I first started using it. The admin page is a little wonky and hard to find, but other than I love it.

**What do you like best about ScreenSteps?**

Keeping user-facing documentation up-to-date is a big task, especially in an environment where new features are release biweekly. We experimented with videos and screencasts, but found that they require a huge amount of time to create and few users actually watch them. Annotated screenshots are much quicker to create; Screensteps makes updating them to reflect new UI SUPER easy. Collaborative features (assigning ownership to articles, flagging articles that need updated content or need review before publishing) make working with a team efficient and organized. 

**What do you dislike about ScreenSteps?**

It took a bit to find a good way to incorporate animated gifs into articles (sometimes necessary!). We've resolved the problem by using a tool called recordit.co. Some other gifs weren't compatible with screensteps, but I submitted a support ticket and the bug may well be resolved by now. 

**What problems is ScreenSteps solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have had serious issues keeping documentation up-to-date for our users, but Screensteps has resolved the issue because it's so quick to replace screenshots and push new articles. We are hoping this will also cut down on support requests to the help desk, but it's too early to tell. Screensteps definitely saves us a lot of time in updating documentation.

Really easy to use interface for screen grabbing and adding notation on the image and relating to the image.
Multiple ways to edit (desktop client, online system, quick edit buttons). 
Easy management of documents - you can move them between different spaces, easily change who can see what and which versions. 
Great approval process built in.

**What do you dislike about ScreenSteps?**

While being able to edit the content via three different interfaces is nice because it gives you the full range of functionality, but also the ability to make quick edits as you find them, sometimes it's hard to figure out what functionality is possible, as it's only available in one or the other interfaces.

Read up in their support portal - there is a lot of great functionality that's not completely obvious, you may be able to do more than you think in it.
