After first being a user of ACE at CSK Behring for a year, I was able to install this eQMS with under 10 hours of billable time for a startup client that included LMS, Doc Management, eSignatures , a core set of SOPs and assign training, and 15 new users with no external help from paid contractors from the vendor aside from the several included live training sessions on the system they provided. It's that easy, I'm not a programmer, I'm a biotech quality professional. Within three days managers were approving SOPs and specifications on their own, employees were completing Level 1 training on their own and I had metrics built on training compliance. Going forward it took about 30 min a week for the routine sysadmin tasks and no dedicated IT support was needed.

As far as features, Master Control, Veeva, TrackWise, Qualio and Documentum do not come close in terms of ease of searching for a file, route and review and especially how intuitive the LMS is for setting up training curricula by role and even accounting for classroom session attendance. Most users who have used one of the prior QMS find ACE to be something they don't need any training on once they get a 5-10 min demo, it's that intuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We liked ACE Essentials so much we tried to (or wished we could) do things it's not intended for. You can issue a master production formula and batch records for each lot with it no problem, and we immediately tried to figure out how to avoid buying an ERP system to assign and manage lot number assignments for 200 master and working cell banks and disposition actions. ACE Essentials isn't designed to include that it's also not intended to be a stand alone material management system but we certainly tried to put off ordering SAP or RedPrairie-like product to keep as much as we could in ACE Essentials.
