What I value most about Paubox is its automatic email encryption, which works seamlessly with Google Workspace. I also appreciate the peace of mind that comes from knowing it is HITRUST certified, meeting comprehensive and secure privacy standards. I have had to manage the dreaded username/password frustration every time a client checks their email and can't remember or figure out how to read the email I sent through other encrypted services. Before Paubox, it tripled my workload as I'm spending my time as a stand in IT person teaching people how to read the email I just sent. Updated review (November 2025) I’m still so happy with my decision to use Paubox—two years later, it continues to be one of the most reliable and worthwhile services I have for my psychotherapy practice. The peace of mind it provides is invaluable. I feel completely confident that my communication with clients is secure, and the ease of use means I never have to think about it. It just works in the background and keeps PHI protected without adding extra steps for me or my clients.

Paubox has also added some amazing new features to support marketing campaigns, which has been an unexpected but incredibly useful bonus. And as always, the customer service remains top-notch—responsive, knowledgeable, and genuinely supportive.

Original review (March 2023) I needed an add-on service to ensure end-to-end encryption for my psychotherapy private practice emails. I read lots of reviews of available options before deciding on Paubox. I'm 100% happy with my decision. I like the additional security Paubox provides when it comes to sending emails with PHI. It provides another layer of safety. I haven't used Paubox long enough to say there is something I dislike. I absolutely LOVE how easy this is to use! I was feeling really overwhelmed while searching for a HIPAA-compliant email solution that offered encryption, so I’m incredibly grateful I found this. There’s no need for me or my recipients to log in anywhere, which is a huge advantage. Honestly, I don’t even fully understand how encryption works, but from the very beginning, I received support to ensure my account was set up correctly. I was able to connect it to my email and domain without any problems, and they helped me take care of things I didn’t even realize I needed. Because I am in healthcare, having the ability to communicate securely and in compliance with privacy laws is essential. I like that Paubox provides not only this service but does so without it being a burden to me or those with whom I communicate. Neither of us have to log into a special portal--it is just seamless communication.

No major issues as yet. The initial set up needs to be configured so that recipients of messages sent from a Paubox-protected email address can indeed receive them: people who use older email systems might have incoming messages that are incorrectly routed to spam or that are not received because they are not deliverable. However, there is nothing a recipient has to alter, rather, Paubox provided great support in getting my email set up to send securely. I am not sure that whether someone who initiates their first message to me will have that initial message be encrypted though, which is important for people to understand.
