1. MacOS doesn't support Revit. You have to use only the Windows operating system for Revit. This is the biggest disadvantage of Revit which reduces a huge amount of users from being using Revit. Revit should definitely come up with some solution to support in macOS soon.

The befit is that it is highly flexible, you can store your selected view, any changes to main 3D will automatically be updated in your saved views so you do not forget to change it. AutoCad LT does not handle the creation and storage of "Blocks" in a way that is compatible with our document management system. This is a major pain in the backside since a lot of the designs I create use the same basic elements in each drawing. I am not overly familiar with BricsCAD, however, some of the tings I dislike is that you can't print off/export more than one drawing at a time. It makes moving the drawings more tedious. Also, it can be hard to recenter on a certain area of the sheets, and usually can only be fixed by scrolling extremely out and in. Not exactly a time saver. The program also seems sort of out dated by the looks of it, but it may be less resolution and user friendly to save on the memory it takes up on a computer. I think it will come but being able to do BIM projects will be worthwhile. I have trouble learning all of the features of DataCad because I don't have a reason to use them all. Photo rendering is too laborious. We don't use CineRendering. Rendering in OpenGL is way faster and good enough if one sets up the right textures from the start. Terrain modeling objects and/or components are limited (but Twimotion fills in this gap if one is willing to learn it). A new version every year is overkill. I started learning AC in 2012 using ARCHVISTA's STEP BY STEP Training Guide book, written for AC 11. Too bad it is no longer available or updated. All own Lisp program could not use directly from familiar CAD software, we have to revise something for ActCAD (Actually this is not a problem) and also LSP file compiling is not available like as .FAS, .VLX

Sadly its just not commonly used any more and seems to have been replaced with Revit now. Although Vectorworks has BIM capabilities I'm sad to say its fallen behind in this regard so is seen as somewhat obsolete now and i dont know of many practices still using it.

Unfortunately this CAD software is less popular in industry. If you are looking to market your CAD skills many employers have never even heard of Inventor. However, many of the skills you can learn through practicing with Inventor can easily translate to other CAD software. I highly recommend this software if you are a student or beginner looking to get into CAD. This is a super affordable software that includes all the basics you need for projects or drawings. Very comparable to much more expensive software. Lots of package options for both students, home users, and professionals. I really enjoyed using this program and have found it to be incredibly useful. They are always updating their software and are constantly improving their interface and options. While Inventor may not be as popular as other CAD software, it certainly is not obsolete and it is easy to find literature and how-to information online that will help guide you through. As mentioned previously, Inventor is great for educational purposes. It is a budget friendly option and if you are a college student you can get a version of the software for free. This is great for home users designing things to be printed on a 3D printer or if you are looking to quickly mock something up. I am using Cadworx for piping design: from creating the specific database to 3D modeling, 3D model integration, preparing the model for stress analysis with Caesar, isometric generation (including I-Configure projects), P&IDs, generation of bills of materials, creating 2D sections for erection details.

It saves a lot of time and resources, can be used for various types of projects, from basic to very complex ones, and the accuracy is so high the pipes were perfectly fitted on site. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

The ability to take a sketch or markup and export it so that the elements remain editable vectors, rather than as a whole rasterized image, is very limiting within a workflow. The level of polish, while pretty good for a brainstorming tool, just doesn't cut it for anything other than whiteboarding. Paper is also fundamentally limited by its platform choice. iOS is great, and while this isn't a review of that platform, even as a daily driver of the platform I recognize that having Paper be truly cross-platform would radically transform its usefulness outside of very particular settings. Get this onto Android and Windows. Even better, get this into a full featured web-app. Give this the multi-user collaboration of Google Drawings, and see what a potential game changer it could be for planners and designers. Add in the ability to select out fully vectorized elements and take those into other applications for refinement or final presentation. Give us the next step.
