I am not satisfied with the design of the field tool in Build, as I find it lacking in user friendliness. From my perspective, there is a lot of potential for improvement, particularly in making the tool easier to use. It is clear that ACC was originally intended for engineers, and now there is an attempt to adapt it for construction or installation workers with the field tool in Build. However, the current design and layout still fall short of what is needed. I strongly believe that working closely with a user experience (UX) group could help make the field tool more intuitive and accessible for those who will actually be using it on the job. What do you like best about Handoff?

Handoff is a tool I didn't know how much I would love until I started using it every single day for multiple projects. This software is built for the residential contractor, but all of my work is commercial and it works just as well. A lot of AI completely removes the human aspect and ability to contribute in an autonomous way. With Handoff, I can proactively work with the software to generate desired outcomes and shape my estimates the way I used to do them in an excel spreadsheet.

Handoff saves time, provides access to professional templates, and for me, has been a great education tool. When creating cost analysis reports or scope of work documents, it's unusually thought provoking. It has challenged me to be aware of every cost, big and small, that a task or scope of work requires.

Paired with the manual input from performing my takeoffs, I know I am providing clients accurate, competitive pricing with as little or as much detail as I feel necessary.

One of the cooler, less utilized components of Handoff, is what I call the "digital library." It possesses the unique ability to function like a warehouse for data. I can upload unique quotes & create specific pricing catalogs that are easy to access and implement into my proposals. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Handoff?

Even though this is true of any system you want to use consistently and accurately, I still dislike the amount of work on the back end involved. It takes forever, but it's definitely worth it.

Handoff is not always as attentive to details as I would like it to be. It does miss details or miscalculate quantities when reviewing drawings. However, this perfectly exemplifies the need for human diligence and review regardless of how brilliant and automated technology becomes.

The biggest flaw with handoff is the inability to edit some aspects of the templates. I wish I could format things differently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I believe that some aspects of the reporting and cost detail type data could be improved. While the Insights feature is valuable, it does not always provide the in-depth drill downs that we need. We often find ourselves needing custom reports to meet our specific requirements. Additionally, the initial setup of HCSS was somewhat challenging for us due to having to work through multiple implementation groups. What do you like best about JobTread?

What I value most about JobTread is the clarity and structure it brings to my business. It didn’t just give me better software — it forced me to think and operate more intentionally. Having everything centralized (estimates, change orders, job costing, schedules, communication) gave me a clearer picture of where projects actually stood and what decisions I needed to be making.

Another huge upside has been how usable it is with subcontractors. Being able to share scopes, budgets, and expectations in a clean, professional way has helped me lean into a subcontractor-based model and step away from employees. That shift alone helped my business survive some very difficult personal and health-related seasons while still moving forward.

The support and onboarding also stand out. The team didn’t just answer questions — they made sure I actually implemented the system and used it correctly. That accountability was pivotal early on and made the difference between owning software and truly running my business through it.

I cannot put enough emphasis on the customer support and the desire to see their clients succeed. I was overwhelmed by the transition into implementing JobTread into our business. They followed up with me and made sure that we had a smooth integration and the support has always been there to ensure we can utilize this everyday in our business. What do you dislike about JobTread?

JobTread is constantly evolving, which is largely a positive, but it can occasionally be challenging to keep up with changes as new features and updates are rolled out. That said, this isn’t due to a lack of training, communication, or access to customer support — those resources are strong — it’s simply the nature of a platform that continues to improve and expand.

One minor functional issue I’ve run into is within invoicing. The total invoice amount is auto-filled in the payment field, and if the actual payment amount isn’t adjusted before submitting, it will apply the invoice as paid in full. At the moment, there isn’t a way to correct that directly, which requires creating a new invoice to fix the mistake. It’s a small thing, but a confirmation step or edit option would help prevent accidental full payments.

What problems is JobTread solving and how is that benefiting you?

JobTread has helped solve the problem of lack of visibility and control across projects. Before using it, it was difficult to quickly see where jobs stood financially, what had been approved, and what still needed action. Now I can track estimates, change orders, invoices, and job costs in one place, which has significantly reduced uncertainty and reactive decision-making.

It’s also helped solve communication breakdowns — both internally and with subcontractors. Having clear scopes, documented changes, and shared expectations has reduced confusion, protected margins, and improved accountability. This has been especially important as I transitioned away from employees and leaned more heavily on a subcontractor-based model.

Another major problem it helped solve was scalability during personal and operational stress. During seasons where my attention had to be divided due to family health issues and business restructuring, JobTread provided enough structure to keep projects moving without everything relying on me being involved in every detail.

Finally, it’s helped solve the issue of inconsistent sales and processes. By running estimates, pricing, and workflows through one system, I’ve been able to sell more consistently, make better decisions, and operate with greater confidence. We utilize Quickbooks Online for our accounting software and that was one of the reasons we signed with Knowify since the two are integrated. I do wish that the Contract Jobs worked a bit more similarly to the 'Customer Projects' in Quickbooks from a hierarchy stance - it would be helpful to manage large-scale contract jobs that have multiple lots (we have projects that can be 300+ lots). We brought on Knowify to start implementing Purchase Orders for our Field Technicians. This will give us the platform that we can use both in the field and in the office. We are also using Knowify to help manage our job bidding - its a good tool to help organize your RFIs from multiple vendors. Before Knowify, we would only use email - this helps to streamline the process for us and the vendors to keep all the right info in one place. Now we do not need to search through our emails trying to find what is what and from who. When I started out in the construction industry everything was on paper or an excel spreadsheet. I love the way Bolster has taken that and built it into a software that understands all the features a GC needs. From the interactive proposals making it easier to do change orders through to being able to effectively manage my pipeline from lead to invoice with its integration with quickbooks! Building custom homes and doing things the way I was doing them just wasn't working I tried out another software which is advertised to solve my issues and all it did was give me headaches, that's when I was recommended Bolster. It has solved 90% of my issues and the other 10% they are working on bringing out new features. Bolster has allowed me to do complex estimates in record time! I now have a clearer understanding of my profit margins and thanks to the integration with quickbooks it has even made my book keeper happy! What do you like best about WERX?

Werx offers excellent Value for Money with a robust suite of tools at a competitive price. A major advantage is its Ease of Use; the intuitive dashboard simplifies Project Management tasks like tracking finances and change orders. Information Access is streamlined through a central dashboard and mobile app, and the responsive Customer Support team adds significant value and confidence for the user. What do you dislike about WERX?

As a newer platform, Werx has some limitations. Its Project Collaboration tools are less developed, which could be a challenge for larger teams with extensive subcontractor communication. The native Time Tracking feature is functional but lacks advanced reporting. What problems is WERX solving and how is that benefiting you?

I had a couple issues on my dashboard that I raised to customer support. They took my call, immediately showed their product team, and fixed it. The error wasn't supposed to be happening. During the call my rep told me the changes they have planned, and the reasons they did things the way they did. It was nice. What do you like best about Premier Construction Software?

What do you dislike about Premier Construction Software?

Premier’s PM Module still has some room for growth on the Submittal and RFI side. However, with new features that are coming in the next few months, such as a Guest Portal, will really bring the PM Module to the forefront. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Togal.AI?

I use Togal.AI for all of my takeoffs, and I like its cloud-based software because I can access my takeoffs from anywhere on any computer at any time. It helps expedite my process, especially with loading large files, and its auto-naming, auto-sorting, and search features allow me to quickly figure out what scopes of work I need to look at for any particular project. Overall, it just saves me a bunch of time, as I do a lot of bids throughout the week, with all of my takeoffs saved and stored in the cloud. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Togal.AI?

The toggle takeoff button is really only used for simple counts on a floor plan, so it doesn't really apply to masonry specifically.
