**What do you like best about Handoff?**

The system is built around estimates, SOWs, and general chat related to the construction industry. I like how it looks for real-world pricing through Home Depot and allows users to put in their own variables like markups or taxes. The estimates themselves are only as good as your description of the job, so if you're on-point with your description, SOW, and plans it's within the 90th percentile on being correct normally.

**What do you dislike about Handoff?**

The only downside is on more complicated jobs the system tends to be all over the place. Breaking down complex projects with multiple SOWs resolves a lot of this, but you have to be very watchful of it's pricing as sometimes it can come in very high or very low.

**What problems is Handoff solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Building out estimates and materials lists with a direct export options to CSV so I can directly import them into our CRM is a huge timesaver.

And the new updates on handoff are just what you as well as I need, for being self employed, it has been nothing but fantastic with the jobs my husband and I do. 
I can convince you all day long, but it is well worth the money spent on their app.

They’ve improved and made it possible. I don’t really have anything bad to say.

The time consuming process of gathering all the details of material needed for a job, especially  more complex jobs, 
And getting the pricing for it.
And the professional outcome of the estimates or proposals, makes it so much easier you can do everything you need too within this app, for your whole project, and keeping track, and so many options to fit your needs.

**What do you like best about Handoff?**

The ability to customize catalogues for different customers is critical. I work with many property managers and the catalogues allow me to standardize pricing, materials, and rates for those specific relationships saving me a lot of time and ensuring I am compliant to our agreements.

**What do you dislike about Handoff?**

Sometimes it is slower than I would like. Like any AI, it does occasionally hallucinate and make mistakes. It requires more cautious proof reading of the final estimates than I would like, but the team has improved it since I've been using it. I do continue to see steady improvements in this regard.

**What problems is Handoff solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Consistency in bidding and speed to bid. This gets me more work. Often bidding fast is winning the bid.

**What do you like best about Handoff?**

Handoff is a tool I didn't know how much I would love until I started using it every single day for multiple projects. This software is built for the residential contractor, but all of my work is commercial and it works just as well. A lot of AI completely removes the human aspect and ability to contribute in an autonomous way. With Handoff, I can proactively work with the software to generate desired outcomes and shape my estimates the way I used to do them in an excel spreadsheet.

Handoff saves time, provides access to professional templates, and for me, has been a great education tool. When creating cost analysis reports or scope of work documents, it's unusually thought provoking. It has challenged me to be aware of every cost, big and small, that a task or scope of work requires. 

Paired with the manual input from performing my takeoffs, I know I am providing clients accurate, competitive pricing with as little or as much detail as I feel necessary. 

One of the cooler, less utilized components of Handoff, is what I call the "digital library." It possesses the unique ability to function like a warehouse for data. I can upload unique quotes & create specific pricing catalogs that are easy to access and implement into my proposals.

**What do you dislike about Handoff?**

Even though this is true of any system you want to use consistently and accurately, I still dislike the amount of work on the back end involved. It takes forever, but it's definitely worth it. 

Handoff is not always as attentive to details as I would like it to be. It does miss details or miscalculate quantities when reviewing drawings. However, this perfectly exemplifies the need for human diligence and review regardless of how brilliant and automated technology becomes. 

The biggest flaw with handoff is the inability to edit some aspects of the templates. I wish I could format things differently.

Handoff has been a great resource for proposal organization and refinement. It also allows me to optimize my time since I can create rules, utilize the pricing catalogs, and spit out templates in a matter of minutes.

It helps me create estimates faster, and the handoff process is becoming more and more usable and reliable for our business. I’m hoping that soon I’ll be able to fully integrate my business into it.

I don’t think there’s anything I truly dislike about Handoff. It feels well tuned for contractors, and the team does a great job of listening to their clients. That said, there are still a few things that could be added or fine-tuned to make it even better.

Handoff keeps its UX/UI more user-friendly than almost any CRM I’ve used so far, which in turn makes the training process much easier. Overall, Handoff saves me a lot of time.

I like that it organizes all of my thoughts from a design consultation into an organized format. Sometimes it will even add details that I did not add.

I don't like that it makes the same mistakes every time I use it. It will add its own details that are not part of the project. It adds more time to editing the document than I would have if I wrote the document myself.

Handoff is solving a streamlined format for everyone in my company to have access to my projects, and pricing is almost ready for me to have on the fly. I can sell jobs faster with this fast pricing turnaround.

Handoff is extremely help and user friendly. Being able to adjust an estimate or scope of work without having to prompt the AI is extremely helpful in streamlining our estimating process. The platform was extremely easy to set up and train our employees on. We use Handoff daily and have not ran into any major issues. We recommend Handoff to anybody looking for a solid estimating software!

I cannot export scopes of work as a word document.

I feel like the AI-generated estimate quantities and hours can vary drastically at times. We’re also having trouble getting Handoff and QuickBooks to work together efficiently, which makes the overall workflow harder than it should be.

Handoff has really sped up the time it takes us to generate estimates, reports, takeoffs, etc.  Even with the issues we have it saves us time and is very useful for overall job status tracking.

**What do you like best about Handoff?**

I like the ease of use of handoff and multiple options to cover all aspects of estimating for job while taking advantage of the AI for quicker review and placement of line items or documents. I also use Handoff heavily with my company and saves a lot of time and money for converting request into quotes, then being able to create final documents based on those quotes / work scope.  Once you can get the Ai trained to your preferred formats, it makes things much easier than using a macro and having to manually input all information indivdually. Also, customer service is actually very helpful, fast, and quick to resolve any issues. I use handoff daily

**What do you dislike about Handoff?**

The least helpful parts of handoff for me are frustrations with simple mistakes sometimes, having to revie and correct the software (from simple mistakes to not following given prompts), however, this is more of an AI issue than the software issue. But this usually happens less than 10% of the time and can usually be quickly resolved.

**What problems is Handoff solving and how is that benefiting you?**

They are solving the efficency aspects of estimating and leveraging AI to help boost productivity for me and company. From the estimating, to reviewing documents and breaking down information, formatting, cost analyisis, profit margins, etc. So many different vital steps of a GC / Construction Companys day to day and data are streamlined due to Handoff.

I appreciate being able to utilize the AI to get the base estimate sorted, even if we have to go in and edit a bunch of items.

Not having a client dashboard or portal is probably the worst aspect. It would save us from needing to utilize other software if it was available.

The AI feature is a game changer.  Although you need to double check on what AI produces, it is still a major time saver.  I also use the AI feature, before I go on an appointment, to generate questions to ask for the project, areas of concern to look for, and a ballpark idea of cost of work.  I also like the feature to take pictures inside the app.  A lot of new features are also very helpful.  I use Hand Off multiple times a day

Hand Off allows my sales consultants to quickly upload photos and video, which is a great help when the AI feature is generating a estimate. It has helped me not miss the small stuff, that was adding up to big stuff.  I was missing small items in my quotes but still needing to purchase them to complete the jobs.  It was adding up to a lot of money I didn't even know I was loosing.  Handoff has caught things that I was missing and adding at least 10-15% more to my orders.

I wish Handoff synced the overview version of the estimate to Quickbooks.

Stream lining by estimating process.  It used to be so overwhelming as it took me so much time.  Even if the estimate is off, I have a base layout to make quick adjustments.

Everything is excellent, and if you ever have trouble understanding something, their support team is very helpful.

Before using Handoff, estimating and writing proposals took a lot of time — especially when juggling multiple jobs every week. We’d spend hours typing up material lists, calculating labor, and formatting quotes manually. Mistakes or small omissions sometimes caused confusion between the office and the field.

Handoff solved that by automating the entire estimating process. Now, we can describe a job or upload a few photos, and the system instantly builds a clean, accurate estimate with line items, materials, and labor costs that match our local market.

It’s severely overpriced, especially for a small business that is still in its beginning stages. There was a cheaper option initially available but not sure where that went. But it also didn’t allow picture uploads which is a critical feature when ai can see my projects rather than me trying to describe it.

It gives me a baseline to make my estimates quicker. I still need to make a lot of adjustments so I’m not pricing myself out.

The software is brilliant  
it’s not just a tool, it’s an entire support system. Sophia, my support team leader, has been wonderful. She responds quickly and gets things resolved every time. Even if the software stood alone, it would still be solid, but having a support system like this makes it one of the best out there.

The change order is not friendly at all.

Handoff's platform is straightforward and user-friendly. After configuring my company's presets, I was able to personally verify the accuracy of the AI-generated estimates, and found them to be within a 10% margin of accuracy.

**What do you dislike about Handoff?**

I've noticed that, similar to many other AI models, Handoff tends to make assumptions about job details if they aren't specified from the beginning. To address this, I've set up a preset so that it prompts me with questions whenever it tries to fill in information on its own.

Handoff has significantly reduced the time it takes me to turn around estimates. There have been several occasions where I was able to provide customers with estimates on the same day, which they really appreciated. As a result, every one of those customers chose to award us the job.

After spending more time with the product, I was able to better understand how the workflow is supposed to function. Once I adjusted my inputs and expectations, the estimates and outputs were more consistent than my initial experience. It works reasonably well when used the right way.

**What do you dislike about Handoff?**

The biggest challenge was onboarding and setup. It took time to understand how to structure inputs and use the takeoff feature correctly. Once I figured it out, the tool was usable

Handoff was hard to set up and didn't do takeoffs correctly even when I told it how I do them. It was inaccurate and didn't work well, so I wouldn't recommend it.

**What do you like best about Handoff?**

I used to spend 3 hours creating out initial estimates for projects. Because of the wide variety of projects we do, even with templates I've created, it was a tedious process to go through and create each line item, title, description, and cost to provide as much clarity for our customers as I could. Handoff takes care of all of that in seconds. I give it a project scope and any plans and pictures I have, and it creates the entire estimate for me. Then, all I have to do is review it. Sometimes items will be double counted, or things will be included that aren't necessary, but it's an easy fix to just tell the AI what's wrong, and over time it has learned what I'm looking for and made less mistakes.

**What do you dislike about Handoff?**

The downsides of Handoff are few and far between. There have been a few common errors with the estimates, such as duplicate costs or things missing or included that shouldn't be, but it is learning more and more as I go. I also have had to learn how to effectively use the AI. If you aren't very familiar with AI, it can be a bit tricky to figure out the best ways to feed it information.

**What problems is Handoff solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Handoff is making initial estimates faster. We are rolling it out slowly, and for now I am still doing estimates manually to do a side-by-side comparison. I have had several estimates come back from Handoff within 5% of what I created manually, and one so far came back spot on. Once we've gotten more familiar with the software and worked out the kinks with all of the settings and instructions we've given it, we'll be able to turn a 2-3 week turnaround on estimates into a 2-3 day turnaround, bringing in more business faster than we've been able to in the past.

I like that it learns the more I use it. I’m still working on getting it to estimate things perfectly, but it’s already gotten pretty close.

It is limited on the types of image files it can process, so it can't use HEIC which is the output format on iPhones.  The AI still makes dumb mistakes (which to be fair anyone could), like I have a spec LVP that is floating and almost every time it will price adhesive on the estimates.

It is allowing me to get accurate quotes on houses that I am looking to purchase.  I have a good idea that my renovation budget is correct by using handoff with my photos, videos, and observations.

The AI tool gets it right about 90% you still have to check it's work and see what it missed, like ledger board for a deck or fascia, but you just tell it to add it and it's done. 
The best part is I get my estimates to my customers in about 20 minutes before they have a chance to go with someone else and the finance availability is great.

**What do you dislike about Handoff?**

They only negative is, I wish it was integrated with Google calendar so that I can keep up to date with my schedule. Have a start date and a stop date.

Sometimes I give a verbal quote and it's not easy to just put in the dollar amount without going through the AI, then I have to call my representative to help manipulate the quote, which she's happy to do.

I use Handoff for both creating estimates and managing projects—and it’s been a fantastic tool all around. The interface is clean and easy to use, which makes quoting jobs quick and professional. On the project management side, it helps me stay organized and keep everything on track from start to finish.

I really appreciate how everything is in one place, making communication and tracking progress much easier. Overall, Handoff has streamlined a lot of my workflow, and I highly recommend it to other contractors or small business owners in the home improvement space. I truly enjoy using it!

One downside I’ve noticed is that when creating estimates, some line items can get duplicated. It’s something I’ve learned to watch for, but it does require extra attention to clean up the estimates before sending them out. What I love about Handoff is the intuitive interface, the significant time that we have saved in the estimating process, and the outstanding support. 

The app is easy to use and very well laid out.

I can’t say enough about the time that we have saved by using Handoff. What used to take a couple hours to manually do everything via spreadsheet, validate current pricing, and convert the spreadsheet to a consumable format in Word has been a game changer for our business. 

The support I have received from the Handoff team has been exceptional. Extremely responsive and highly communicative!

What I really appreciate is that it keeps improving, which makes my job easier and faster thanks to the number of helpful features. Creating estimates is so much more efficient now—with just a small amount of input, the AI fills in both the big and small details. And since I’m not especially tech-savvy, the fact that it’s so easy to use is a huge advantage for me.

The only downside I’ve noticed with the recent updates is that I can’t combine files. In the past, change orders weren’t included in the same file, so I always had to create a separate bid. Now, it’s definitely an improvement—the new setup works much better overall. I just really wish there was a way to merge multiple bids that belong to the same project or category into one file. But moving forward it works great, an improvement for sure.

Using Handoff has completely transformed the way I handle bids—it's truly the best of both worlds: speed and accuracy. Before I started using it, being accurate meant I had to take tons of detailed notes during each walk-through. Then I’d spend a significant amount of time sorting through those notes just to create a solid bid. It was a lot of work and took up more time than it should have.

But after using Handoff for a while now, the whole process has become so much more efficient. I no longer need to take extensive notes. Instead, I gather just the essential details from the customer—like square footage, grade of materials, color preferences, and a general idea of their budget—and plug that into Handoff. From there, the system generates a clean, professional-looking bid that’s ready to go.

Once the customer approves the bid, all I have to do is order the materials in the style they want and within the budget we laid out. It’s streamlined, reliable, and a huge time saver. Honestly, it’s made my workflow smoother and my interactions with clients a lot more efficient.

I'm not sure its a dislike per se, but as with all new tools or systems it does require commitment of time and energy to make the tool work for your business. The combination of AI narrative and file translation, the input of general instructions, and specific business-specific metrics is only as powerful as the time taken by your team to interface with the tool.

Handoff decreases the amount of time a effort required to return to a prospective client an accurate initial project estimate. For our process, this gets us one step closer to a pre-construction contract.

I love that Handoff allows me to upload photos and it will analyze to create an estimate based on how I defined it to put together bids for my clients.  It even finds line items that I forget often!  It has paid for itself monthly by bringing more money into my business.  AI learns my preferences and the more I use it, the more it becomes more like my personal assistant.

Invoicing.  It can be complicated how it invoices and you have to create invoices and names for the invoices to match the estimates.  Feels like this is where I'm not saving time.  I'm sure they will continue to improve this area but definitely not user friendly compared to my last invoice program.

Time Management.  It has made line item invoicing so much faster.

This efficiency in job estimation is noteworthy and is one of the main reasons I would consider continuing to use the product.

I find it frustrating that Handoff does not allow more than three users for a job. This limitation significantly restricts its usability for larger teams or projects where more collaboration may be necessary.

**What do you like best about Handoff?**

What is most helpful with Handoff is the ability to provide a constrction, remodel, home repair bid or quotes for jobs in minutes instead of days!  And that I am able to provide this from the downloaded app on my phone or from my laptop.  The convience of having both is amazing.  I personally use the app on my phone more since I'm able to enter the information needed while still on the job site.  Another feature that makes Handoff great is that if I need to make changes to material or labor, all I have to do is type out the changes in the "Use Handoff AI" bar and the AI makes the necessary changes for me and updating the materials cost and manhours needed. While I am just using the Handoff Cost Estimator, I am seriously considering upgrading to the Handoff Business Subscription so that I can have access to change orders, invoices, and other premium features.

**What do you dislike about Handoff?**

I have not found anything that I dislike about Handoff.  After the 7 day free trial period, I thought that the price for using Handoff was outrageous and not affordable.  That quickly changed on the very next bid that I attempted to start without it.  With the time that it saves, the cost of Handoff easily covers the manhours that I would spend to complete bids "the old fashion way".

A problem that I was having while putting together construction project bids is that I was always forgetting some type of material, or I was underestimating the manhours needed to complete the projects, ultimately costing me money.  With Handoff, I am able to provide more accurate bids with more accurate estimates for manhours, which has enabled my profits to increase.

It was very easy to get started and the free trial proved that it would do what I needed. I needed a program that would list in detail the components required to build out a specific detail. Such as how many 2 x 4"s needed to build a 10 ft by 12 ft deck. It does a great job of listing everything. When I have questions the chat bot is mostly helpful.

**What do you dislike about Handoff?**

It has limited organizational capabilities for Projects with multiple estimates. Hard to find estimates with-in a project, or sort the estimates with-in a project.

The first up grade was the creation of "Projects" this allowed me to keep all estimates for that project together. It would take a considerable more amount of time to list all the components for a build object and then price them. It allows me to set labor and material pricing and then re-use those elements on future estimates.

Handoff is still learning.  Project hours are on the high side and materials seem to default to most expensive.  Entering followup prompts can cause the program to change other areas outside the prompt.

I have been having issues with converting the estimate to a CSV file and uploading it into Builder Trend, large portions of file don't make it.

Handoff is great at taking building plans, designers info, and insuring nothing is left out.  I am able to build estimates rapidly and Handoff is the only tool I've used that will easily convert it to a CSV file so I can just as easily import it into Builder Trend.
