STACK Takeoff & Estimate Reviews & Product Details

STACK is very intuitive & user friendly. The various functions are easy to learn & easy to use. I especially like the page that shows you all of the drawing sheets. It allows me to navigate quickly through the sheets I need to work on. I use STACK every day and like it far better than other software I've used. I'm not very familiar with the estimate function in STACK. I have always used an Excel spreadsheet for my estimate. I find it hard to figure some general condition items like lift rental and travel, per diem & lodging for out of town projects. To me it seems easier to do that portion in my Excel spreadsheet. I would very much like to see the "Multiplier" on the "measure" page to be able to use decimal figures like 2.5 or 3.75. Now we are only allowed to use whole numbers. It’s an online platform, which makes it much easier to access than having to sit at a desk and log in on a desktop. That also means it’s accessible for the guys in the field who need to view the takeoffs. There are a few things that can be frustrating because it’s still a fairly new platform and doesn’t yet have some of the features other estimating software has. I try my best to submit suggestions through the STACK request a feature when I remember, but I don’t really get any feedback on whether it’s something they plan to implement or not. Some of these include: Copying Cutouts for repetitive items like windows or doors SF, Having the option to organize the project list into folders, Notes section automatically saving instead of having to click save, ability to copy takeoffs from one project to another, ability to hide specific dimension lines, ability to edit description & Title of takeoff from the reports tab, ability to link/hyperlink a set of takeoffs to a specific detail sheet (i.e. If i have a flashing on my window elevation, click on the link and it takes me to the sheet with that detail.). I use STACK Takeoff & Estimate for all our estimating work on mechanical and electrical projects. I like that it helps with quick and easy takeoffs while keeping all projects in one place, so there's no need to print drawings, which saves paper. I appreciate that I can create assemblies in as much detail as necessary and create an unlimited number of projects. I really value the measuring capabilities in STACK Takeoff & Estimate because it quickens the process and eliminates calculation errors. The ability to hide documents is also fantastic, as it allows me to focus only on the relevant documents when addendums are released. Additionally, the keyword search feature makes it easy to find important documents that are part of our work scope. These features are among the most important for us right now. I wish it had more takeoff types for painting, like I-beams and stairs. It would nice if there was a formula type for I-beams since there are many angles, which would quicken the process. Guardrails aren't as crucial, but having a formula for the circumference of a round guardrail on elevations would be nice too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I use STACK Takeoff & Estimate for takeoffs, and it helps me do them easily. I like that it has colors and shapes which help me see the exact thing I'm looking for in the plan, especially on big projects. The search functionality is very helpful; when I want something specific, I can write it in the search, and only the pages that have it appear. Stack is very feature rich. It has an expansive takeoff item and assembly library to customize and build fluid bids. It make's collaboration with other estimators in various locations very seamless. Integration was simple for our smaller team size. We use this software every day in both residential and commercial applications. The customer support has been solid as we run into issues. The features added to the newest estimate worksheet seems to be geared exclusively to GC's more that trade specific estimates. The Labor and Material worksheet is our goto on all proposals. It would also be nice if Stack would send email natively instead of having to download excel or pdf's that lack custom formatting layouts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

I have a high appreciation for STACK Takeoff & Estimate because it effectively meets our needs for takeoffs and estimating, which made it stand out among other vendors we considered. The standout feature is the AI software, which has greatly enhanced our efficiency by automating the tracing of walls and lines, substantially speeding up our workflow. Additionally, the ability to save material costs within the system is tremendously helpful. Even though the AI is pricey, the increase in productivity and the workload it enables us to handle makes the cost worthwhile.
