"The absolute pinnacle of computer programming IDEs"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is, without a doubt, the fastest, most extensible and most feature-packed IDE available. This has been largely driven by its MIT license, which permits free personal and commercial use, which in turn has seen its Github repository become one of the most active repositories of our time. Built on TypeScript, VS Code is extremely fast and capable of directly integrating with local or remote servers, docker, kubernetes and many others. As VS code is owned by Microsoft this stands as a testament to how Open Source could improve all Microsoft products. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The only thing I would improve with VS Code, if I knew how would be to support multiple monitors layouts natively. Of course VS Code can span multiple monitors but being able to save a multi-monitor panel layout would be a significant improvement for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best code editor for frontend developers"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

In general, it is easy to use, you can customize it a lot, but the best part is all the tools available to install as extensions that allow you to do anything, from managing git, formatting the code the way you want, to acting as a postman... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

As it has so many options, it is somewhat difficult to customize it to your liking and find the option you want. It can become overwhelming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Generic Editor for all languages"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

In my opinion, this is a generic editor. Anyone can configure it according to their requirements. Tremendous community support and plugin support can be utilized to make effective coding in multiple languages. Good for those who works in multiple languages at a time and don't want to keep installing multiple editors for same. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Nothing much to dislike in this editor. I am using it to code in multiple languages like python, php etc. The only thing I feel bad is suggestions because many time it stops working. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

When we start embedding our preferred version control [git, bitbucket], I kind of get confused on where to navigate as version control was much easier in IntelliJ Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Why I chose Visual Studio Code as my code editor after trying multiple editors"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is considered to be the best because of various differentiating factors such as:

VS Code has a modern, clean interface that makes it easy to use and navigate.

VS Code runs on multiple platforms including Windows, Linux, and macOS.

It has a large library of extensions that can be installed to add new features, enhance existing ones, and increase productivity.

And additionally, the built-in debugging and testing tools help developers quickly identify and fix errors.

VS Code is designed for performance and is optimized for speed, making it a fast and efficient editor for developers.

Lastly, VS Code integrates with various other tools such as Git, GitHub, and Azure, making it a complete development environment. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Some of the reasons that I find annoying is the setup of environments while you are using a new programming language.

It has a wide range of features and options to set up personally to get a better environment to work with.

It uses a lot of computational power as it is a resource-intensive text editor and can consume a lot of memory too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
