VS Code is being actively developed, has great utilities for local and remote development. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Electron can be a little heavy at times, The VS Code developers try to make it efficient, but there is only so much that can be done. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast, robust and not bloated!"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Its free and fast.

You would think its missing a lot of features, but it comes shipped out-of-the-box with enough features for most simple usage. When you need more, you can always find an extension that will solve your needs.

Have you ever used a screen sharing tool for assisting someone with a code issue? Well, try out Live Share, you get connected to a session, and can access all files on your own computer, as they where stored locally. Code will be built and executed on the clients side, so you dont have to have the compilers/environment on your machine. You can also share tcp ports (webservers, Docker instances etc), so you can see the results from your changes e.g. on a webserver running on the clients machine.

Supports a-lot of different programming languages/scripts, so you dont have to configure independent tools to use e.g. the same shortcuts, font/colors, snippets etc. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Coming from other ideas with more powerful intelligent-search, I have seen some of it weakens. It does manage to get basic 'auto-complete' option, but not close as deep as other. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best code editor tool available in market"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like many things about code. It has vast number of extensions that help support most of the code files like Java, Swift, Javascript, HTML, CSS and list goes on. Being able to write code of these many language supports it make very easy for any developer to use this. Also it is very light weight software to use and this makes it perfect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I cannot find anything to dislike about this product. For me as Mac User this editor has never failed me once. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The editor that adapts to all types of projects"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like to work with this editor because it has many important functions and that helps me to be more efficient when writing my code, I can configure it and add add-ons for the programming language I'm going to use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It can be heavy and slow if you add many add-ons, also their menus are different and I find it hard to find the options I need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Fast and free IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It's fast and very powerful IDE. What I like the most is the number of extensions it has, basically, you have one for what you need. Also, I love the keyboard shortcuts, for example, I use a lot the ctrl+shift+p to launch commands like format JSON, preview CSV...

It supports theme colors, I can develop with a white background and It has some nice dark themes with good colors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It's difficult to say something wrong about this product but If I have to say something I would say the intellisense is not as good as another similar product. Sometimes, for example, it won't even suggest a variable I had just defined one line above, so I have to copy/paste or just type the variable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"THIS IS best IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is free for private or commercial use. One of the most awesome things about VS Code is not actually a feature of the editor itself. VS Code was launched during //BUILD 2015 with an accompanying code handle – how cool is that

Huge Language Support: Not only is VS Code available cross-platform, but it also aims to be your one-stop code editor with support for 30+ programming languages out-of-the-box. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

it's quite difficult for a new developer to understand all the features. BackEnd integrated projects are little difficult to develop on VS code. It uses a huge amount of the RAM. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Source code editor for multiple programming languages"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It is an editor with many new features, among which is the integration with git, which allows me to be connected to my repositories, it also has a function of refactoring codes, it also has a very detailed console that shows all the errors and notifications. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I realized that adding many add-ons the performance of this editor is very bad since it starts to freeze and to work slowly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
