What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It has a great number of plugin options, perfect cross platform function as I'm using 2 computers with 2 different operating systems. It's full featured IDE can be ran at any system. What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

What problems is Visual Studio Code solving and how is that benefiting you?

Anytime you are working on a machine locally, it's a great choice. It's not well suited to using inside an SSH terminal session or if you are doing XWindows remote sessions. It works the same (99%) across Windows, Mac or Linux Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

- Code is very easy to get set up for any environment, and there are some environments where you don't even have to set anything up! It has a bunch of functionality built-in.

- Cross platform, I use it on macOS, Linux and Windows. Functions flawlessly on any platform.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Since it has support for custom plugins (community mantained), you can tailor Code for any pretty much given situation. We use Code for managing our development flow as well as our devops flow, with Docker and Azure integrations. It also has great capabilities for debugging most languages. What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Occasionally, the program crashes and I have to disable plugins one by one to figure out which is the culprit. There is no built-in shortcut key for comparing two files. The current git version history plugins seem a little lacking to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I have been using Visual Studio Code for about 11 years and it is my favorite development editor. I currently use the Enterprise version of Visual Studio Code and it gives me everything I can ever wish for a development environment. Although most of the work is in the Java environment, it is starting to move to other platforms such as Php and JavaScript for Node.JS work.

- Very beautiful theme by default

- It is possible to create applications using C #, C ++, VB.net, and more.

- It has an advanced code debugger.

- It has autocomplete code.

- Manage queries towards SQLserver.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Ctrl+shift+W used to close the current tab in version 2015, but they removed that in 2017 for some reason. I needed to manually add it to their list of shortcuts to bring it back. Also, the "go to" function (Ctrl+G) used to run extremely slowly when Visual Studio Code first came out. (It's much better now though!) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Recommendations to others considering Visual Studio Code:

VS Code is super easy to use. if you use a code editor, then consider looking at VSCode. It is also tottaly free so you won't lose anything trying it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Visual Studio Code solving and how is that benefiting you?

We have been using it for fast coding tasks, it is so awesome. it is possible to code up a HTML page, and then serve it. Or, you can code up a server-side language (C#, python, etc) and run it locally. additionally, because of the plug ins, it is able to be similar to SQL manager for queries or writing T-SQL. And, because of the way it works, always saving in the background, if your computer crashes, it is able to recover the files (unlike SSMS) Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
