"Impressive user interface for a text editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I have started to learn Python from Microsoft courses, as a part of this course I installed Visual Studio Code to my computer. As a new user, first thing catch my eye is the user interface. Looking very cool with that dark theme and fancy font colours. Extensions feature is another better thing about it, at the beginning of the Python course, I easily installed Python extension for Visual Studio Code inside the app. Installing the extension was so easy and it configured itself in a second.

If I need to mention about coding part, best feature is autocomplete. Also suggestions are very well, when you start to write something, VSC suggest you possible codes. Suggestions makes your coding easier just with clicking on TAB key. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

After using it for a month, Python scripts stopped working on Visual Studio Code. I updated Python but it did not fixed. According to my searches, it was because of Visual Studio Code. A lot of people have had the same problem and asked about it on internet communities. I tried every method explained on knowledge bases, it did not work. I ended up with re-installing everything which took my 3 hours. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Visual Studio Code has a large number of features that make your coding experience extremely smooth. Different plugins make it possible to code in various programming languages with ease. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The speed is sometimes quite slow when i have multiple windows open. This is the only major hindrance at times that I have come across. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"My experience with Visual Studio Code"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

This is Code Editor which I used more than 2+ years. Nowadays also I used visual studio code. It's flexible and fast. If it is Code Editor which has features like IDE. I can work with many programming languages and there are many IntelliSense packages are available. It has built-in git support, So it's made easy to work with git. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Visual studio is not a much built-in theme. I had to install them separately. some packages are not supported. To work with the VS code. It gives an updated note which is very annoying to me. Another thing to open the VS code window takes some time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The new kid on the block with cool moves"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I am a big proponent of the open source software movement and I always stayed away from the visual studio ecosystem as it was full of proprietary products, but visual studio code is the rare exception as Microsoft has built an opensource code editor for the first time and I have made the switch to VS code ( Remember, even Microsoft's notepad is not open source code). Here are my favourite features in VS code:

Marketplace: Microsoft Visual studio code is feature rich and comes with a lot of bells and whistles, but it also enables users to download custom plugins from its market place and these plugins are wide and varied, for instance there is a docker plugin that lets us create manage and run dockerized processes

Native integration with GIT: Visual studio code plays well with Git, it does all the basic git operations right within the app so there is minimal context switching when coding. No more typing long git commands, get everything done with a few clicks.

Inbuilt terminal: I hate to write code and then open a terminal to run it. With a fully functional terminal Visual studio code is the one tool that I need to build and test my all my apps in one place. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The face that visual studio code just like atom is an electron app that unnecessarily uses excessive RAM and memory. Another dislike that I have about visual studio code is the fact that it makes outbound Http requests, I am concerned that Microsoft might be tracking developers and their activities without the developer's consent. "Fantastic software - community supported"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Because this software is open source and backed by Microsoft you get a fantastic product that's constantly evolving, getting shaped according to the needs of its users, and supported with a ton of plug ins so that it's always able to get what you need it to do. The open source allows developers (who are the main users of the product) to really get into the details behind the code and also contribute features they are looking for. What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I honestly have a hard time coming up with things to not like about it. It is a little confusing - at first - to understand the difference between opening a file and opening a workspace (folder). Otherwise, it's extremely useful and capable. At times things can be a little confusing as to how to use, but I find this is mainly around plug ins and not the core product. "Coding in visual studio code is a pleasurable privilege "
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I am a newbie programmer (not a professional) that wants to contribute code to my company's website and a colleague recommended it Visual studio code to me.

There are hundreds of things that I like about Visual Studio Code by Microsoft ( Literally!), but for the sake of this brevity I am going to pick my top 3 likes in Visual studio code:

Number 1: Visual studio code does a phenomenal job in multiple departments but if visual studio needs to be given credit for just one thing, I would pick the inbuilt debugger. Initially I was using console log statements to debug my code,

Number 2: The Inbuilt terminal helps me run the code without switching to a new window.

Number 3: The autocomplete feature makes sure that I am typing less and coding more. It catches syntax and semantic errors proactively for me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Since visual studio code is an electron app it hogs up tonnes of RAM and processing power, I hope Microsoft optimizes this someday. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the best text editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like its User Interface look, and color coding it takes on for different programming languages.

I code my front-end development scripts in Visual Studio Code (JavaScript, Html, CSS).

This software is also light weight. On opening a heavy application, it doesn't time to load. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I don't dislike anything with Visual Studio Code, Its really amazing. However the total size that it consumes is high and sometimes freezes on windows 10 OS. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"VS Code one of the best software developers tools to consider"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

This is actually one of the two main IDEs that I use all day long. This is a chameleon IDE capable of being used in different languages, frameworks, and environments for no extra cost. With a few clicks and some plugins, it will adapt to the environment you need to run on the operating system you need.

Excellent debugging and refactoring tools.

Also, it is extra light and fast, being the best at that feature. And if you like it you can easily jump to stackblitz and use it online.

There are amazing plugins available for remote pair programming, difficult to find in some other IDEs.

It can be installed in less than a minute. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It will usually need an extra effort to configure, need some extra work to make its settings cloud available. Sometimes it is difficult to know what are the best plugins for your need. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great opportunities for what you want!"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Easy to use!

We have lot of extensions...

It's not a just text redactor. Yeah, you can use it for every programming language.

For example I use Visual Studio Code to write Python, C# and SQL codes.

I like the themes. It's pleasure for our eyes, when we are looking on what we want!

And I should mention working for remote servers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I said that VSC is easy in use.

But when you new user, you should have a patience))

Yes, we have a lot of extensions, but what we need to choose?

Sometimes you need to spend lot of time for finding the extension you need. It makes angry. But when you know what you want, it's cool!! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best Open Source IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code (VSCode) is one of the best IDE out there. I'm amazed about how well designed VS Code is. VSCode sees a stable release every month which is really great in my honest opinion as various other IDEs don't. It has lots of extensions available like discord and slack for communication with team while live share is there for collaborative work on programming. Live share is one of the best extensions available on VSCode, allowing the users to simultaneously edit a file through their own text editor. Live Share makes it feel as if you’ve taken your team member’s entire project and transported it into your own text editor or IDE without having to install and configure settings. It even gives you good debugging features via the debug icon or using ctrl+shift+D and having the options to Continue / Pause (F5), Step Over (F10), Step Into (F11), Step Out (Shift+F11), Restart (Ctrl+Shift+F5), (Stop Shift+F5) that many IDEs dont provide. What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Vscode is nice but it's in electron so you need to have high quantity of ram and powerful enough CPU.Electron is a framework for bundling an instance of Chromium and with your code written in JavaScript/Node.js. It makes the editor very extendable, but using an entire instance of Chromium for a text editor makes the app start up slow and use more memory. What bothers me is that the editor is quite slow compared to Sublime text. Even if I only use editors from time to time, this is quite a disadvantage for me. It is also not suitable for large scale Java projects too which really is quite bad. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
