"The best solution for code development (and more!)"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I have tested different solutions and VS code is the most complete, tunable solution I ever tried. It is lightweight (so I can run in a mid-range laptop of ten years ago), it is powerful, and it is easy to manage. The code development of the tool is also very satisfying, with complete explanations (even with GIF) of the changes introduced in the new versions. It is the best product by Microsoft, by far... And it is even open-source!

The choice of extensions is also very helpful. You can customize every little detail of the interface, and you can have in the same editor latex files (and compile them, and having synctex to have the pdf synced with the source file), matlab, python... and so on1 You can even work with Jupyter notebooks, and the extension you have for Julia language is quite good. From my point of view, it is the new standard in these kinds of tools (even better than Sublime, that is not for free). The integration with the terminal is also very convenient. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The product is very good, I don't dislike anything at all. Maybe the development of the remote extension is taking a while (and while they are on it, you have partial solutions that more or less work, but they are not full functional yet). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Amazing IDE with a small footprint"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like that the application isn't a memory hog. It allows specific customization through plugins in the Marketplace (which is free). Code formatting is simple with plugins like Prettier. There's a lot of color themes from the getgo, or you can download more. It offers language support for every language I could consider using. It also works great with test runners. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I dislike that I didn't know about this sooner. I used to pay a yearly fee to use another competitor's (excellent) web development application. Once I discovered VSCode, I didn't go back.

Occasionally when I'm typing in HTML5/JS syntax, it will attempt to do an ES6 import without asking me and break my code. This isn't enough of a complaint to worry about it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
