It is easy to setup, review, and manage. The platform is very solid, with regular updates. **What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?** Kaseya, ever since Kaseya acquired Unitrends the support platform seems to have changed to offshore support. They used to offer fast helpful support over the phone with a quick 1 minute verification, and now there is twenty-to-thirty minutes of verifying whether our account has paid for support, then finally speaking to a person whos english is not their first, or even second language. **What problems is Unitrends Backup and Recovery solving and how is that benefiting you?** We use this for file level recovery, and a few bare metal recovery solutions. This would be one of our solutions of three, covering different stages of backup levels. Unitrends Software UB is what I use to recover files that have become corrupt, deleted, or accidentally modified. I can do so very quickly, minimizing downtime for our end users. Unitrends provides different preset backup configurations dedicated to Database, file server, and virtual machines. ### 4. It integrates well to back up the entire hypervisors. I like using Unitrends Backup and Recovery as it offers a user-friendly interface. The deduplication feature is really handy for saving storage space. I appreciate the backup copy to the cloud as it plays a huge role in ensuring business continuity. The instant recovery feature is very valuable because it allows us to launch the servers at any point in time in the past, which is crucial for our operations. Overall, I find the system reliable. We've been running Unitrends for about 13 years and it saved us several times. We were given a good price for the full product with support which makes it worth it. **What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?** Unitrends doesn't fully support Proxmox, which is essential for us going forward. We are looking to either change the backup solution or go with another virtualization solution. We might have to go with Microsoft instead of Proxmox, which is not ideal. Support can be hit or miss, with some engineers being qualified and others refusing to properly do their jobs. **What problems is Unitrends Backup and Recovery solving and how is that benefiting you?** I use Unitrends Backup and Recovery for daily backups, cloud backup copies, and recovery, which ensures business continuity. I use a virtual Unitrends appliance, and it reliably lets me know when there are updates, so I can keep everything up to date. I find restorations fairly easy to set up, and I appreciate the ability to restore to a separate virtual server rather than overwriting the existing one. It's great that I can set up retention policies across all the backups or have different policies for each server. I also appreciate that the backups happen smoothly with little or minimal intervention. **What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?** With the virtual appliance version, I find it frustrating that in a virtual environment, where you can normally move virtual servers from one physical host to another or take snapshots of virtual machines, you are not allowed to do that with the virtual Unitrends appliance, as it will corrupt things. In a VMware environment, the snapshot process is so good and reliable, you can move almost any virtual server at any time. But you cannot do that with the Unitrends virtual appliance virtual server. It would be nice if the system did a better job of notifying before the disk space becomes an issue. Recovering from a system where you run out of space interrupts backups and requires Unitrends support team assistance. The initial setup was a bit challenging, as we ended up having to go through the process a couple of times before we got the system working solidly. **What problems is Unitrends Backup and Recovery solving and how is that benefiting you?** Unitrends Backup and Recovery takes quick backups of our virtual servers and backs up physical servers, adding an extra layer of protection by copying backups offsite. ### 8. There are constant updates offering new features and security enhancements, as well as bug fixes. Unitrends Backup and recovery offers unique features that are hard to find in any competitive solution. What we think is amazing is the offered capability if instant recovery. This is where you get to select any of the available image based backups you have made and boot it up on the appliance itself (if you have one as we do) or on any hypervisor. This can be done either in audit mode to check the backup image or in productive mode as a disaster recovery scenario! **What do you dislike about Unitrends Backup and Recovery?** It takes a bit longer than expected for the fixes for identified bugs to be released. **What problems is Unitrends Backup and Recovery solving and how is that benefiting you?** Unitrends Backup and Recovery is our main backup solution for all our on-premise servers. Once you have setup your backup jobs you are done. All is automated. Backups can be stored in the local storage if you have a backup appliance as we do. You get reports about the backups daily and you only have to check failed backup jobs. Compared to our previous backup solution it has saved us a lot of time, as we rarely need to intervene! ### 9. I'm not sure when this changed, but in the past, when the device was full, it would clear out the oldest backups in order to complete a new backup. A few months ago, my device decided to just arbitrarily delete the most recent 2 months of backups in order to create space. That certainly was not expected and tech support says that is now "normal". Maybe it is normal, but that is ridiculously unintuitive. **What problems is Unitrends Backup and Recovery solving and how is that benefiting you?** It has turned into our main short term backup option. It replaced our tape library years ago and is head and shoulders a better option. ### 10.
