"Tracks well, but only healthy sites"

What do you like best?

I love the way similarweb analytics tells the quick overview of any website's traffic, keywords and all. The best thing is, I just need to click one chrome extension icon and it reveals the secrets of any website.

What do you dislike?

I hate when the website is not large enough to get listed over there. I have to move to similarweb alternatives (https://affnext.com/similarweb-alternatives/) to seek more traffic, backlinks and SEO stuff.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Buy the Pro plan if you really have to play the BIG game of media buying or internet marketing.

Competitive analysis of the competition and the industry is clearly demonstrated by similarweb.

I make quick decisions as to media buying, link building and estimating any website's traffic.

"Competitive intelligence and website analytics platform"

What do you like best?

SimilarWeb offers free plan for beginners that includes up to five results per metrics, one months of mobile app data and three months , which is great for startup company. I like the feature where you can compare your website results with your competitors' website results and see it in comparison on one screen - it is very convenient and gives many insights.

What do you dislike?

Website and mobile app data that showed on similar web sometimes incorrect. I compared data in our Google Analytics and on SimilarWeb and have to say that Google Analytics is much more accurate and process new data much faster..

Recommendations to others considering the product:

SimilarWeb is a great platform, but data could be not very accurate, so use SimilarWeb as an addition to GA

With SimilarWeb I get insights about website strategy of companies I am interested in, do keywords planning and analysis and simply track our website traffic in comparison with our main competitors.

"Don't pay for premium"

What do you like best?

The free extension and our CSM is definitely trying to make us happy.

What do you dislike?

This is not a technology, but a service. You enter domains in a spreadsheet that can do look-ups. You cannot easily do a list build and the way they do look-ups eats into your API calls, which are limited every month. My CSM is definitely trying to be helpful, but the technology is just not there. If you are in the US, they are based in Israel, so you will usually get a response the following day. So far, I am disappointed that I moved from free to premium.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Ask a lot of questions and have them show you their capabilities in the product (or lack thereof). They have over promised and under delivered to the point of not delivering at all.

"Website analytics for industry analysis"

What do you like best?

The ability to review website visits data by subdomain and to measure the global footprint of websites is extremely useful for my industry analyst projects.

What do you dislike?

Sometimes i think the algorithms they use might predict too high a rate of website visitor numbers, but if i am comparing across an industry, i assume that if there is a miscalculation in the algorithm that it affects all of the comparable sites equally so comparisons between industry competitors would still be valiud, but just perhaps not at the numbers being suggested.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

This product will really help you think outside the box in terms of market analysis, competitive positioning and industry trend analysis.I It really is what you make of it: i feel like there is a lot more analysis i could do with this if i spent more time digging in to the product's rich feature set.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I look at unique visits to developer portal subdomains of websites to measure the platform impacts of businesses. I can also make correlations between the success of digital transformation journeys and the industry category ranking of some businesses in particular verticals like banking. I have been able to enhance some analyst reports by looking at uptake of technologies globally and representing that visually, and in my own research i have been able to track what engagement strategies businesses were using that might see them achieving higher-than-expected traction in any given month and i can dig into referral sources to understand what moved the needle for them.

"Does the job, could be better -- Could also be worse"

What do you like best?

It gives an OK estimate of site traffic. For a PR pro, it's a necessary tool to track metrics. The Chrome extension aspect of it is a huge plus. Makes it quick, seamless process.

What do you dislike?

It's not as good as it's predecessor, Compete. UVM doesn't really exist. It seems to share general site traffic which doesn't always seem accurate. Sometimes it's too low and others too high. For the most part, it does the job. Like I said, it could be better but could also be way worse.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

Use it to get a ballpark estimate of website traffic. Consult other sources like Cision, Alexa Ranking, Google Analytics or any old records you have on hand for frequently visited sites.

It helps us gather UVM/circulation for online news sites and publications. It does help justify some publications to our clients and give us intel when reporters aren't forthcoming with their metrics or media kits.

"My favourite paid tool out of many... love it... but it is expensive. "

What do you like best?

Ok... so this tool is actually amazing. It allows you to look at the search engine traffic, referrals and outgoing traffic for competitors. You can export this into excel sheets to manipulate the data and it's great for identifying affiliate blogs to network with and adwords / ppc campaigns.

The support is also amazing. They're active on email, twitter and are happy to get on the phone.

What do you dislike?

The price! It takes a lot of persuading to get this paid for if you're working in a small company.

export the data and learn to manipulate it... look for long tail keywords to identify good niches

"SimilarWeb - A Must tool for Digital Analytics"

What do you like best?

Competitor Analysis is one the best features which SimilarWeb has. It gives you instant analysis of keywords which your competitor is using, provides you with the source of the traffic which your competitor's website is getting.

What do you dislike?

It needs integration with Google Analytics to give in-depth and accurate data which is kind of more work to do then Just one place tool for Digital Intelligence.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

We are providing our clients with Digital marketing solutions along with marketing technology. For us this is very benefitial as we analyze the competitors, their keyword use, traffic on their website by using similarweb's free chrome extention instead of going through various apps to do so, hence saving time and improving the efficiency.

"Efficient digital analytics tool"

What do you like best?

SImilarWeb offers an inside look into analytical information on websites and competitors. From a PR perspective, it's incredibly helpful in gauging outlet circulation and unique visitors. It also allows you to track how well your brand's website is doing versus competitors and includes keywords that users are looking for.

What do you dislike?

I would like the opportunity to download the data. It would also be helpful if it offered additional context on what different data sets meant.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

I use it mainly to track engagement on different media outlets, however I find it fascinating to compare a brand's websites with competitors.

User experience is sup easy. Even if you have no experience with the platform, it is easy to figure out quickly.

What do you dislike?

I feel like the data could be a bit more accurate. I also wish you could view more mobile data.

"Works Well For Blogs and Websites"

What do you like best?

Interesting insights came from this tool. I was able to pin-point where the majority of traffic was coming from and which social channels were the most important. I used this tool for Influencers. Its easy to use and is ux- friendly.

What do you dislike?

I wish there was more social analytics. I'd like to see just a little more information but I imagine since I didn't have Google Analytics connected, this would have helped.

Recommendations to others considering the product:

It was extremely helpful in determining where the best/ most relevant traffic is coming from and whether that aligns with our business strategy. I recommend trying it out!

"Efficient Research Tool"

What do you like best?

The best part for me has been the ability to track how visitors to competitor's websites arrive and what the most common keywords they search for are. It essentially provides an inside look into the Google Analytics information for your competitors.

What do you dislike?

While there is a lot of valuable information inherent in SimilarWeb, the data isn't always easy to actionable insights in the data. It takes the work of a data-driven individual or team to get the full functionality out of the product. That being said, it's a research tool, and should be utilized as such.

What problems are you solving with the product? What benefits have you realized?

The biggest business problem we are solving has been learning where traffic to competitor's websites is coming from and how much traffic they generate compared to our more readily available data.

"Most of the details are over rated but it's good for initial research"

What do you like best?

You can get a bit idea about how great a website is. Also, you can decide your potential competitors with it.

What do you dislike?

Most of the data is overrated. Where the actual monthly traffic will be 15K, this platform shows more than 1 lakh per month. So you actually can't rely every time on this. Also, their support system is very poor and the guys are full of attitude. The way they greet the customers is pathetic. The worst part is you have to wait for 2 months to get your things done.

Invest in other tool like SEMRush. You can get a lot of data from it.

What do you like best?

Similarweb is a fantastic tool for market research. The ability to view the breakdown of traffic sources for any given website, say referral traffic, and dig in to the specific websites sending traffic is invaluable as we prospect for new partners.

What do you dislike?

Time-span of data often isn't clear or changes when clicking around a websites profile

Chrome extension should work better, often has data that mismatches with what is on the website

"Competitor and prospect research tooling"

What do you like best?

The chrome extension is fantastic. It's made for speed and the data is accurate enough to provide insight. The visual breakdowns are very, very easy to digest quickly -- which is important for me while prospecting.

Customer engagement data and tracking traffic is itself so easy to work through on the dashboard.

What do you dislike?

Nothing really so far. The PPC spend figures in the extension would be nice. The dashboard is not as quickly navigable as some competitors.

Look at SimilarTech too -- I use a competitor, but it's quick a nifty tool. Again, very visually focused.

What do you like best?

Good program to give you high level insights about a website’s traffic. Can then use this info to make advertising decisions, audience insights, etc.

What do you dislike?

Some of the information isn’t always useful. For example when referring traffic or other top visited sites lists google/Facebook/ etc.

What do you like best?

SimilarWeb seems to be more accurate than other platforms which offer a similar service: Compete and Alexa. In addition, SimilarWeb provides additional insights about referrers, UV location and more. SW also has some great, pretty much presentation-ready visuals you can screengrab and drop into a deck.

What do you dislike?

As with any platform, it's not always the MOST accurate - especially the free version.

Definitely worth a look, especially if you're considering the packages offered by Compete, Alexa and Quantcast.

What do you like best?

I love that I can see how many page views a site has per month as well as other baseline analytical data regarding their site

Sometimes websites don't show up in the extension and it can be challenging to not get all of the applicable data

Sometimes smaller bloggers are not on the site.
