Is Semrush Worth the Price? What Reviewers Say

Based on recent G2 reviews that discuss pricing and value, many reviewers say Semrush is worth the cost because it saves time by combining keyword research and site audits in one platform. Reviewers frequently mention strong return on investment when the product is used regularly for SEO work and competitor analysis. Several reviewers highlight that agencies and active marketing teams see the strongest value, while some users report the cost feels steep for small businesses or lighter use. A common theme across reviews is that pricing feels justified for broad functionality, though some users report confusion when extra capabilities require additional payment. Many reviewers say the cost can climb as usage grows, especially when teams need more access or broader feature coverage.

Is Semrush free, or does it offer a free trial?

Yes. According to G2 data, Semrush offers a free plan with limited features. Users can upgrade to paid plans for additional capabilities. Visit the seller's official pricing page to compare plan options and features.

How much does Semrush cost in 2026?

According to G2 data, Semrush pricing in 2026 starts at $139.94 and can reach $499.95 depending on the selected plan. Pricing may vary based on billing terms or usage, so users should review the Adobe's official pricing page for the most current details.

Who is Semrush pricing best suited for?

According to G2 reviewers, Semrush's pricing is best suited for marketing agencies, in-house SEO teams at mid-market companies, and digital marketing professionals managing multiple client accounts. G2 reviews from small business owners in marketing, construction, retail, and health sectors show strong adoption of the Pro plan, though many note the limits feel restrictive as client rosters grow. The Guru plan draws praise from growing agencies needing historical data and branded reports. G2 enterprise reviewers in technology, financial services, and retail gravitate toward Business or custom Enterprise tiers. Solo freelancers and early-stage startups frequently cite Semrush's pricing as a barrier, with several G2 reviewers recommending monthly subscriptions to manage costs during slower periods.

What are the key differences between the free and paid versions of Semrush?

Semrush's free account provides heavily restricted access, including only 10 keyword results per report, 10 daily reports, position tracking for 10 keywords, site audits limited to 100 pages monthly, and minimal social and content tools. G2 reviewers consistently describe the free tier as useful for basic exploration but insufficient for professional SEO work. Semrush's paid plans begin at $139.94 per month for the Pro tier, unlocking thousands of tracked keywords, expanded crawl limits, multiple projects, and scheduled reporting. Higher tiers like Guru at $249.95 per month add historical data, branded reports, and content marketing tools, while the Business plan at $499.95 per month introduces API access and white-label reporting.

Is Semrush considered good value for its pricing?

G2 reviewers overwhelmingly describe Semrush as a premium investment that delivers strong returns for those who use it regularly. The platform earns high ratings despite near-universal complaints about cost, suggesting the data depth and all-in-one convenience justify the price for active users. G2 reviewers frequently note that Semrush replaces multiple standalone tools, making the subscription cost-effective at scale. However, G2 users from small businesses, freelancers, and solo marketers consistently flag the pricing as prohibitive, with some reviewers mentioning alternatives like SE Ranking, Ahrefs, and Ubersuggest for cost savings. The add-on model draws particular criticism, with many G2 reviewers noting that essential features like AI visibility and social tools carry additional monthly fees beyond the base subscription.

What do you like best about Semrush?

I really appreciate how Semrush lets me keep track of SEO, traffic, site health, and much more all in one place, which saves me time and impresses my clients. The level of information provided is so helpful and impressive, and I like the agency-level area that showcases us to potential clients. I've tried many competitors but always stayed with Semrush. I like that many important areas of marketing can be found within one dashboard. The ability to create custom reports that look very professional really impresses my clients. I also love how it helps me with SEO and content ideas, backlink issues, and site health problems that I might not easily see. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

I don't care for the monthly price, it is the most expensive out there. I would like to be able to implement some of the suggestions right from within Semrush. It's getting a little more complicated as they continue to move things around. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Semrush?

SEMrush has a large set of tools under one roof, which makes it easy to do basic keyword and competitive analysis without juggling multiple platforms. The interface is generally intuitive, and setup doesn’t require much onboarding time. That said, the product’s functionality isn’t the issue — the experience around billing, renewals, and support far outweighs any benefit the platform offers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Semrush?

We’ve been long-time SEMrush customers, but our recent experience has been extremely disappointing. One of our old accounts (created by a former employee) auto-renewed for $6,327.95 without any notice or usage. Despite reaching out immediately after discovering the charge, the support team refused to offer any refund or credit — citing a strict no-refund policy for recurring subscriptions, even when it’s clearly an honest mistake.

Their “support escalation” consisted of multiple polite but scripted responses that made it clear no one was empowered to actually help or use judgment. For a company that claims to value its customers, this level of rigidity and lack of empathy is unacceptable — especially for enterprise accounts spending thousands of dollars.

If you’re considering SEMrush, be extremely cautious with billing — they will continue charging you even if you’re not using the product, and their “policy” leaves no room for fairness or good faith. We’ve since switched to other tools that offer similar capabilities, better customer support, and more transparent renewal processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
