"Efficient Printer Management with Robust Tracking"
What do you like best about PaperCut?

I like PaperCut's user interface and the ability to add printers easily. The vast amount of guides available for third-party integrations is quite helpful, especially when working with active directories. It simplifies giving access to existing staff members without needing to set up new accounts for each person. I also appreciate PaperCut's great tracking abilities, including the ability to track jobs of printers not sent through PaperCut itself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

I would like for when printers get the red color next to them for being down, that PaperCut gives you as much detail as possible as to why it is down, most likely using the information from the printer. Also, there was a learning curve with the initial setup, but I got over it pretty quickly, being a one-man team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Reliable Print Management for Kyocera and AD Integration"
What do you like best about PaperCut?

I like that PaperCut makes it easy to manage printing across the network. It works smoothly with our Kyocera printers and links well with our Active Directory setup, which helps manage users and permissions automatically. The card tap feature is really convenient, and I like the security it provides for releasing print jobs. It’s also great for tracking usage and keeping printing costs under control. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

Sometimes it can be a bit tricky to configure, especially when setting up new printers or syncing with AD groups. Also when we apply the apply the updates some features of the Kyocera printer does not work. The reporting pages can load a bit slow at times, and the interface could use a more updated look. But once it’s all set up, it runs very reliably. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Facilitate Printing with Simple Integration"
What do you like best about PaperCut?

I appreciate how PaperCut contributes to agility in daily life, especially in its use with users, allowing for effective and direct synchronization. The system allows easy authentication for users through badge, CPF, or user login. I like the fact that if a job is not used, it is not charged, which is highly economical and efficient. The initial setup process of PaperCut was extremely easy, thanks to the support material provided, which is educational and well-organized, making the implementation smooth. This gives me confidence to recommend PaperCut, which I will do with enthusiasm, as evidenced by my score of 10 on a scale of 1 to 10. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

I think PaperCut could have more ease in synchronizing with people from Google Cloud. It would be useful if users could send prints directly, without the need to have the printer installed. Currently, adding printers in Google Cloud for direct printing is a bit difficult to analyze without this prior installation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A Printing Lifesaver for Education"
What do you like best about PaperCut?

I love how PaperCut enables printing from iOS devices, which is particularly crucial for our school district as we lack iOS-native printers. This capability allows seamless printing on our enterprise HP printers, ensuring functionality with high-standard equipment. The feature to print from iOS devices is invaluable given that most iOS-compatible printers are not enterprise level like the HPs we use. Another aspect I appreciate is the ability to limit and control which printers different user groups, like students and teachers, can access. This functionality is essential for managing print resources effectively across our district, allowing exclusive settings, such as unlimited prints for teachers and restricted access for students at certain printers. Additionally, the setup process of PaperCut was straightforward and easy, involving merely an installation on our print controller. The initial ease of setup was significantly beneficial for integrating with our existing infrastructure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

I dislike that PaperCut does not have an automatic active directory update feature. I have to manually update from the active directory whenever I want to refresh users and user groups, as it doesn't automatically recognize changes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"PaperCut is simply the best server software to manage printers and printing."
What do you like best about PaperCut?

PaperCut is simply the best server software to manage printers and printing, especially in the corporate environment. Controlling, monitoring, tracking, limiting, and safeguarding company data, it does it all. Not to mention how easy it is to setup and configure... The automated sync for employee account is awesome. It takes no time at all to setup and configure. And best of all; It just works. No problems, ever. And all the extra features, such as cloud print, air print, notification, etc. Been using PaperCut since they first began, and I loved watching the Software evolve and grow. They listen to customers. They do it right. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

There are no downsides that I can think of. And I have been using PaperCut for a very long time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alistair Nestor of PaperCut

Whoa, thank you so much for the fantastic review!

We're so happy to hear that PaperCut has been a trusted solution for you since the very beginning. We built our print management software to "just work," so it's incredibly rewarding to know we've lived up to that promise for you.

We truly appreciate your kind words about our evolution and our commitment to listening to our customers. Knowing that our efforts have a positive impact on users like you is what drives us every day (I know, it sounds corny but it's true).

We're always working to improve and innovate, and your feedback is a huge part of that process. Thank you again for being such a loyal and valued member of the PaperCut community.

"Boosts Security and Reduces Waste, but Hardware Challenges Persist"
What do you like best about PaperCut?

I appreciate how PaperCut reduces wasted print jobs and improves security by ensuring that no more print jobs are left on the printer, which previously risked sensitive documents being picked up by others. PaperCut's approach to waste reduction meets my expectations well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

I feel the print hardware that PaperCut uses is the weak point. Obviously, that is not part of the PaperCut product, but it is an essential component of the process and a critical touch point for the end user. There were problems with the setup originally. Again from what I understand, mostly around the hardware. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Excited"
What do you like best about PaperCut?

PaperCut is widely praised for its comprehensive print management capabilities that deliver significant cost savings and enhance security. Users appreciate the ability to track and control printing activity, which effectively reduces waste and promotes responsible printing habits. Key features like secure print release, which requires user authentication at the printer, are highly valued for preventing sensitive documents from being left unattended. Furthermore, its user-friendly interface simplifies administration, while detailed reporting provides valuable insights into printing trends. The software's flexibility in supporting various devices and operating systems, including mobile and BYOD printing, is another frequently lauded aspect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

PaperCut is a solid print management solution, but it has notable drawbacks. The user interface can feel outdated and unintuitive, especially for new administrators. Advanced features often require scripting or API integration, which adds complexity. Costs can escalate quickly, particularly for organizations needing premium features like secure print release or cloud integration. Device compatibility varies, with some multifunction printers experiencing issues after firmware updates. Cloud offerings like PaperCut Hive lack the depth of on-prem versions. Scan workflows and integrations can be unreliable or difficult to configure. Support quality also depends heavily on the reseller, leading to inconsistent experiences across organizations. Finally, it is a fully operational product, ready to use upon deployment, making it an efficient and professional solution for print management. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about PaperCut?

We love using Papercut in our district. The ease of use of scanning our badges to release our print jobs is crucial. Year one, we saved over 1 million pieces of paper! I have also found out that some of our newer teachers were already familiar with the process from when they were in college... Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for Cost Recovery, Challenging Setup"
What do you like best about PaperCut?

I find PaperCut incredibly valuable because it helps ensure that the costs associated with file management are fully recovered when settling a file. This feature is crucial for maintaining financial integrity by preventing any profit leakage on a file. It provides a financial safeguard that reassures me about the efficiency and thoroughness of our cost recovery processes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about PaperCut?

I found the implementation of PaperCut to be quite difficult and, in some cases, it bordered on a nightmare. The initial setup was not easy at all; it took many months and was problematic throughout. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Alistair Nestor of PaperCut
