## PaperCut Reviews
  ### 1. Easy to Manage and Integrate, but Support and Copier Compatibility Fall Short

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason L. | System Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 29, 2026

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Ease of management, ease of integration, ease of accounting.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Support , or lack of direct support. Not all copiers supported despite claims.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are large private school, with a student body in the thousands and faculty in the hundreds. We have been using PaperCut for over ten years to manage our fleet of over 200 printers and over 20 copiers. We get the latest Xerox copiers and Brother printers from our VAR. This is our 3rd complete fleet refresh when support fell off the rails completely to make us doubt whether they know what they are selling. While it streamlines management with full integration with our hybrid environment seamlessly, we face struggles with support, or rather lack of. We are forced to deal with our VAR's divided support (they support all the printers / copiers they sell for all their customers) for 1st and 2nd level, and after them is main national reseller of PaperCut's support department when it needs to escalate to 3rd level, when some problems are clearly for developer to solve and only them. They have all quietly admitted to me they have not seen the latest Xerox copiers in person - specifically the PrimeLink C92xx - so how can they possibly assume to help me? It appears PaperCut is developed in Australia and does not appear to have a U.S.-based support.

**Official Response from Alistair Nestor:**

  ### 6. Satisfied new user

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Holly D. | Graphic Designer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 02, 2019

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

We just started using PaperCut at work as a way to track printing costs and printing volume by department. So far so good, it’s easy to use and easy to navigate.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Not much to dislike so far, other than the added step of needing to scan my credentials in order to ‘activate’ the print job at the printer. A tiny extra step, that you’d have with any print management tool I’d imagine that allows for the tracking of printing.

**Recommendations to others considering PaperCut:**

Serves it's purpose well!

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

This has allowed my organization to solve the problem of wasted money and resources on necessary printing. Biggest benefit is the tracking of print volume by department.

  ### 7. Does the job

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Hospital & Health Care | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 20, 2019

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

PaperCut does the job of controlling printing and it does this effectively. It ensures that no one else can use my account to print unless they enter my username and password, and it never misses a job.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

PaperCut can be quite slow which makes it annoying to have to wait 30 seconds or so after every print job to enter my username and password before I can go to the printer to print. Also wish I has the option of entering my username and password once and have it stay valid for 10 minutes or so - would make it much more convenient.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PaperCut only makes sense if you need tight control over printing and such - for example, if you use computers in a public space or if not all employees have printing privileges. In a small office, for example, I think you could go without.

  ### 8. Good for job tracking

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 24, 2019

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

I like how I have presets for jobs so billing is fast and only takes setting up once

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Nothing so far except having to restart it every time I disconnect but that could be a simple setting or something I don’t know about

**Recommendations to others considering PaperCut:**

Solve the WiFi restart problem it’s a paint when I travel for work or work remotely and have to reset it every damn time

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

How disconcerting between WiFi’s requires me to relaunch the program every time

  ### 9. Easy connection

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Asalah E. | Reasearcher, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 30, 2019

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

All computers within the company can easily have access to the printer/scanner. It is efficient and once connected, easy to use.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Ther are some limitations on the type of printing.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

All employees have access to the printer and has resulted in efficient work flow.

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Works seamlessly in our environment. Our server guys seem happy with it, and it manages printing for around 10,000 users.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Haven't found anything to not like. I connect to my printer using CUPS and it prints when I ask it to. The rest is all in the hands of our server administrators.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I know that we use PaperCut MF to handle access to our printers (primarily copiers), and it works. Integrated well into our dual domain Active Directory.

Look, this product does what it is meant to which you s a major plus. I would have to say I get no other joy from using it as part of my stack

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

It is clunky, the UI makes no sense, there is no intuition, it can be quite buggy.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our workflow is smoother. We can operate better as a team.

  ### 14. Many options, but not the ones you want

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Architecture & Planning | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 05, 2019

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Powerful tool with many different capabilities - ability to customize and run reports from many sources

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Multiple steps required to create relatively simple invoices for reimbursable expenses. The interface could be simpler to achieve this basic function

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It certainly helps with managing printer resources and tracking/billing print jobs internally and as reimbursable expenses.
