## PaperCut Reviews
  ### 1. Great service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Logan W. | Educational Technology Specialist, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 03, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Papercut was incredibly easy to set up in our environment. Managing the service is a breeze, and support is great.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Print notifications aren't bundled into the print deploy client, which is inconvenient.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Papercut allows us to assign easily assign print drivers to users on ~100 devices. Needless to say, this would be incredibly time consuming otherwise.

**Official Response from Alistair Nestor:**

> Hello and thanks for your thoughts, Logan!

I appreciate your feedback regarding the print notifications. While we don't currently bundle the user client with Print Deploy, we understand that having a unified solution is more convenient. You can set up notifications using the PaperCut User Client, which is a separate small application that can be deployed to your users' desktops. This client provides real-time notifications about print jobs, account balances, and other system messages. You can find more information about this in our knowledge base: https://www.papercut.com/help/manuals/ng-mf/clienttool/user-client/

So to be clear, that would mean installing clients on each user's computer (the Print Deploy client AND the user client).

Thanks again for your review and for hanging out with us!

**Reviewed Date:** November 04, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Friendly UI; printing control; Ease of Use,

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Nothing to say; I think it's working well

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since we're using Papercut we saved a lot of paper

  ### 3. A control tool that makes life easier for the user and the admin

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Antonio J P. | Pre-sales consultant and IT manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 21, 2023

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

I like how Papercut is implementing changes to get closer and closer to digitization

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

No, and our customers are currently happy with the solution

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Our main need was to block the equipment and comply with the data protection law that was resolved using embedded and release using cards

  ### 4. Intuitive System with a Smooth Learning Curve

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danilo D. | Technical Support Analyst, Government Administration, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 17, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

The intuitiveness that the system offers, making the learning curve low for new users

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

I haven't found anything yet that discredits the use of Papercut.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Network management and printer access by network users

  ### 5. Papercut has reduced the number of hands on hours.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Keith L. | Director of Technology, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Installation went well and the product works very well. End users are able to walk up to any of the printers in the corporation and print...this has resulted in a huge time savings for our building level technicians who were spending hours adding printers to end users. Now it's just add one printer and the end users are happy.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

I haven't found anything I dislike about papercut at this time.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Papercut has solved two major issues for us. The first is being able to correctly track the number of prints a user runs. This has helped us track down our abusers which has resulted in few prints being run. The second issue is the number of hands on hours the technicians were speding adding printers to end uesers and managing rights to printers. Now our technicians add on printer to the end user device during setup and they are done. They also no longer have to worry about adding the end user to the management software as we have things integrated with MS Entra, so that when a user is created on the network, the new user is added to Papercut via a sync.

  ### 6. The easiest print deployment tool ive ever used.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Although papercut may be intended for well cutting paper, the most useful feature is its print deployment. I work in a mixed environment of PC, Mac, and ChromeOS. Papercuts "print depoy" has you covered. Updating drivers is a breeze, adding new devices is just as easy. With SSO support authentication is super easy for the end user. If someone has a printer issue, just refresh your printers. From an IT point of view this makes deployment and management super quick and easy. Papercut is worth every penny just for the ease of use for end users. Gone are the days of running from building to building just to get your people printing again.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

While someone of this is just an issue with the OSX handles certain things deployment of print deploy is a bit of hassle to get going through your mdm. If that process could be streamlined I would be happy to up my rating to a ten.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Since switching from windows based print servers/management to papercut the amount of printer tech tickets and drive time to our various locations has been reduced greatly. Saving time and money.

  ### 7. Great Product, Great Future Potential

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 03, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Fantastic features, works across all of our sites, and on many different vendors equipment. PaperCut simplifies our user experience and gives us the auditing we need. Its really easy to implement and allows us to focus on our carbon reduction, while allowing people to do their jobs, it has lots of features and we use all of them across a number of different use cases

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Move to the cloud, we think that PaperCut Hive will be just as awesome as Papercut MF, but we really need to get further information and support on the migration.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Print Management and Auditing is a breeze with PaperCut, it makes managing 10,000 users printing and the associated rules and costs easy, gives us a good oversight of our carbon use as well as helps us to reduce our environmental impact

  ### 8. Great experience !!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Higher Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

It's reliable, seamless and almost no support needed apart from the maintenance

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

I'm still searching after 10 year, most downtime are caused by failing infrastructure

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A web print server, a sandbox for the file submitted, a robust architecture, all feature needed for a good working/studying environment.

  ### 9. PaperCut saved our printing costs

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Tommaso S. | Technical Support Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** February 13, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

We were looking for a Cloud Print Server and we found Papercut. It Is very simple to install and to use. We easily started preventing the misuse of the printers, we defined rules to avoid or allow 1face or 2face paper printing and also to notify the user to choose B/W instead color printing and also to block printing documenta with many many pages.
Thanks to the statistics and analytics present in the portal we manage to reduce the paper consume and to take a green certification. We use also the mobile app that can be very useful when the user has to print something quickly. During these years many features have been developed, so the project is alive.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Some of the features are on the premium license. The network is a key point and you should have some internal node (always running machines) to be sure to print. You can rename the Printers with the location but could be useful to upload an image with the map of the office in order to choose the printer from there.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We reduce the number of printed documents.
We reduce the number of color or 1face printed document.
We take a green certification, as we reduce a lot the use of paper.

  ### 10. Great Printer Management Features, but Lacks Direct Support

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Printing | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 14, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Papercut has amazing features which allows the admin to manage properly the entirely printer system and is compatible with most of the brands that are in the market

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

There is not direct contact with Papercut when you try to fix an issue.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It helps to integrate all our printer system in a single one, we have Cannon and Epson printers. We can do reports which are amazing.

  ### 11. Really good system

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 02, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

The system is really easy to use, allowing staff to add new staff members, amend/add print codes and there is easy functionality to switch on/off colour printing.
It is straightforward to delete users once they leave, and to add new joiners. We require very little IT support with the system as it is very self explanatory.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

It can be a little slow to save actions (e.g when you switch on/off colour printing)

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Managing multiple users across our school with printing/photocopying functionality

  ### 12. Easy to Track Copier Use

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Marietta C. | Director of Finance, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2024

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

It is very intuitive and can provide numerous reports which are extremely helpful for tracking copier use by machine, user or department. Installing it on our network was a breeze.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

There is nothing that I don't like about it.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is helping us track overages for which we are billed by our copier company. When I see that a copier has significant overages, I use the Papercut report to let the appropriate managers know that their staff is making more copies than for what we had contracted. Without these Papercut reports, I would have no way of knowing which copiers are used in excess and which user is not considering the monthly copies budget.

  ### 13. It's easy and provides us all the we need

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Pere G. | Director de Transformación Digital, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 06, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Provides our company all information about how our users use printers and we have real numbers about the use of all printer systems. Moreover, allow us to implement policies oriented to reduce prints and in consecuence the environmental footprint. Also the platform it's easy to configure and use.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

More system policies and information about the level of printer consumables. It would be the way from having all information about printer systems at the same environment.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed more control and we are worried to reduce the environment footprint.

**Official Response from Alistair Nestor:**

> Thank you so much for your review, Pere.

I asked around about your comment regarding more information on printer consumables in the same environment. I got the following feedback from the tech support team:

"The closest way to show this level of toner information via our built in reporting options is the report called Printer List. You can see this by going to the Reports tab in the PaperCut admin console, then Printer. The report will be the first option at the top of that page and you will want to run it in the .CSV format. CSV reports give a lot more info in general as they allow for more rows and columns than the PDF version."

I hope that helps!

  ### 14. Great product, does what it says it does

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Ease of Setup and Deployment
All major printer brands supported
Print Management

Ease of use on BYOD devices using Print Deployment

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Doesn't Have a full cloud product yet. It is in development

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We use PaperCut to control printing with who can print to which printers, how much can be printed in a day, week and month. Forced black and white and duplex for some users

  ### 16. Solid Product and Reliable

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jason J. | Technology Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 06, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

PaperCut is a very stable and reliable management solution that's easy to operate and manage. It works extremely well with all of our connected equipment and the reporting tools are solid as well.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

I would like an easier method to merge accounts in the event that a user has changed their name or last name to keep accurate records of usage over time.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

None at this time. It's been an extremely solid solution and we've used it throughout 2 different copier management agreements and vendors.

  ### 17. Campus environment Prek3 thorugh 8, 3 MFPs, single server

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Matthew B. | Director of IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Reporting and accountability provide significant management reports. Having a single print queue is much easier to manage than having multiple queues on the server. The flexibility to be able to print at another machine if there is a machine down keeps work flows moving. Reduction in actually printing by using SCAN to email or SCAN to OneDrive/G-Drive is especially cool and uses less paper by "sharing" which is a novel concept for Educators to learn.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Not having a US presence and support needs to improve. PaperCut needs to fax and email in all ways, "paper touches email, fax and physical printers"

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reduction of waste since all users must use their accounting code to release print jobs. The single print queue is easier to manage than multiple print queues. Having the flexibility to print at any machine keeps workflows moving.

  ### 18. PaperCut is fast and efficient!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Fathima J. | Office Manager, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** August 05, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Its quick to print, printer settings are consistent and you don't have to waste time setting up preferences.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

It easily detects sizing and prints based on your preference setting

**Official Response from Alistair Nestor:**

> Hello there, and thanks for the great review!

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Papercut is increasingly addressing its shortcomings, and both customers and we appreciate that

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Customer sentiment has improved, although some still complain about the complexity of installing embedded systems from some manufacturers

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

A controlled distribution of print queues, with different profiles per user or group, centralize printing, scanning and OCR services in a single software.

  ### 20. Very pleased with the deployement of PaperCut in IDOM Madrid

PaperCut is saving thousands of dollars, people respect way more when goes to printing, and since there's a control, there's no mistakes while printing for error.

**Official Response from Alistair Nestor:**

> Thanks heaps for your review, Marin. So good to hear you're having a great experience. It's interesting you mention PaperCut MF is easy to use - I find many people set it up initially, and then hardly ever go back to the dashboard afterwards because it just works!

  ### 21. Easy to use software, straight forward interface.

I have been using Papercut for years and it is fantastic, I can manage printing and user access in the best way. Recently, I implemented the findMeprint function and I must say it is truly brilliant. I recommend it to everyone who needs to manage their printing processes in the best way.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Nothing, perhaps the only thing is that the cost of purchasing licenses for the various devices could be lower.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

He/She/It has solved the problem of uncontrolled prints

  ### 29. Reliable easy to use printer management tool

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Brian H. | Director of IT, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 04, 2024

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

The product just works. Once setup it just hums along doing what it is supposed to do without much interaction. It has good reporting when needed and makes printer usage easier for all users.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

The only two issues I have had are:
1. The toner status reporting (% left) seems unreliable and inaccurate often.
2. When the sync engine sees the ID deleted it doesn't remove it from user. This is an issue with badge ID reuse.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Allowing users to print to multiple printers easily and have print release.

  ### 30. More than 10 years of use, a true joy!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Richard B. | Administrateur Systèmes, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 10, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

What I like the most: the follow me feature, the ease of management and implementation, the support for different copier brands, the integration with an LDAP/AD. The availability of PaperCut support in case of issues.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

What I like the least might be the impossibility of having a Papercut Master cluster. But this is not Papercut's responsibility; it is due to the difficulty of setting up and maintaining an SQL database replication and also to Microsoft's discontinuation of the printer cluster function.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Badge authentication (card reader + AD sync for users), the "follow me" +++

  ### 31. Papercut, a print management game changer

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 09, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Easy to install on multiple printers.
Easy to link Windows Server AD to Papercut and bulk send printer PIN details to users.
Easy to setup and install on multiple BYODs on campus.
Excellent support directly with Papercut themselves.
I can automate monthly reports for the finance team based on their requirements for usage and billing.
Print via your phone effortlessly.
We use this daily.
Support assisted us to easily integrate this into our campus systems.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

As far as I know, it can't manage multiple operating system drivers for a single "click this link to install" option for a BYOD campus. However, it does work with sending out a link for Windows and Mac separately.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have four major printers on campus that comprise of two different brands. Papercut allows a single print queue that the user can release on any of the printers.
Manual reporting to finance on usage is a thing of the past. Papercut has automated reports for us.

  ### 32. My review of Papercut

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Alan V. | Facilities Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 04, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

I love that I can monitor and limit users print, scan and copy quantities and receive a monthly report to my inbox automatically.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

The user interface is just a little awkward. The digital keyboard is hard to use efficiently. The time it takes to switch tasks is a bit long and time consuming.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It has helped my solve the problem of printer sharing across departments since we can limit users to each machine so the costs can be departmentalized to each department.

  ### 33. PaperCut has reduced our printing costs greatly.

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eddie K. | IT Director, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

All print jobs are accounted for, no more random print jobs left at the printer.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Nothing really, it's as close to perfect as it gets.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

People leaving large random print jobs un collected!

  ### 34. Great Customer Service

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 13, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Easy to use, user friendly interface and great control over print management

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

We faced issued with Client Auto Update Feature, it is not updating the clients promtly and there is no visibility in the Papercut portal to update us how many clients has which application versions. We have over 1500 users and the bug in the older client versions are creating pain for us. If this feature could visibility feature could be added, it would be great.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Print costing, best use of prinitng facility

  ### 35. PaperCut has truly revolutionized our printing processes!

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Danny B. | Administrator, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 02, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Its user-friendly interface makes managing print jobs a breeze. The software's ability to track and control printing has significantly reduced waste and saved us money. Highly recommend PaperCut for any organization looking to streamline their printing!"

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

One minor drawback is that the initial setup for more complex environments can be a bit intricate. A more streamlined onboarding process would be a welcome improvement.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PaperCut has significantly reduced unnecessary printing, saving us a considerable amount of paper and resources. Its streamlined approach also means we only need to install a single print queue on desktops, simplifying the user experience

  ### 36. An easy to use and feature rich print management software

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Primary/Secondary Education | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 04, 2024

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

Papercut has an intuitive UI and wonderful documention. It has helped us cut down on unneeded printing, and provides a very convient print release system for our staff. Unless somethnig seriously changes, we will be sticking with it for years to come. We first started with PapercutNG and migrated to PapercutMF for intergration with our copiers which went super smooth.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

If there was a way to pass more printer specific options to the Mobility Print provider, then we'd have almost no compaints.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Secure docment release, scanning intergration with cloud providers with OCR, and print accouting

  ### 37. Solid product - Smart support

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Legal Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

I've worked with Randy at ACD-I many times to get PaperCut to sync with our Product (ActionStep Legal Accounting -- formerly "Soluno") and he and his team have always delivered a functional integration;

It is always a pleasant experience to deal with the team andthe Product.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

It just works! I have no criticism about the product at all.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PaperCut reliably exports CSV files for all chargeable expenses that our product imports -- i rarely ever have issues with it.

**Reviewed Date:** June 10, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

The convenience of having just one print queue to manage is priceless, and with guest printing I have solved the problem of having our guests print at the company.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

I like everything at the moment, the software is completeI like everything at the moment, the software is complete

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Regulatory compliance and reduction of printing waste

  ### 39. A perfect solution in complex reality

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Education Management | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 12, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

The print control software has definitely revolutionized our cost management and control system. The biggest impact has been in user management, which in the past was done on each individual machine but is now controlled centrally. This way of acting has allowed us to:
- precisely control users;
- we can define precisely which resources each can use;
- when changing machines, the user transfer operation no longer exists, only the new resource needs to be updated.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Nothing in particular, but I would suggest better management of the reporting part.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

In managing the printing limits associated with different users

  ### 40. Easy Controls for printing

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Susan M. | MIS Manager, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 09, 2025

**What do you like best about PaperCut?**

My users love the FindMe feature, the ability to send a print job to the server, and only release it to the printer when they badge in. Not worrying about anyone seeing sensitive information is great, and we have been able to remove personal printers from desks and offices saving money on toner cartridges and individual printers.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

If I have to criticize anything, the setup is very complex!

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

As I mentioned earlier, not having personal printers at everyone's desk saves money and support overhead.

In the 3 years, we have had 2 issues due to updates, and the PaperCut customer support was able to get us back on track within hours.

> The auto update is an interesting point. I think it's mainly due to the complexity of some print environments that require planning outages (say, weekend hours) to upgrade, test, etc. Better safe than sorry! Thank you so much for sharing your views.

  ### 45. Papercut Pocket - great tool for remote workforce

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

We were an early user, so a few glitches in the beginning; however, now it is awesome!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Peter o. | Enterprise Engineer, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

Papercut sits over the top of our Print server and integrates with our Active Directory to allow us to manage users and printers and capture the data to help us make better decisions.

**What do you dislike about PaperCut?**

Papercut has alot of side products and some are awesome and some need work. We wanted a Copy Center tool and PaperCut offers Job Ticketing, but this tool is way to basic in its design and function. It needs a massive overhaul. I would Not recommend Job Ticketing for a school district.

**What problems is PaperCut solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It offers transpancy into print use and options in how you want to setup/control printing for your business/schools. This makes it way more powerful than a simple Print Server could be on its own.
