**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** March 27, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

I like that New Relic is a SAAS solution. I dont have to worry about keeping up with updating a server application on a regular basis. We get new features as they roll out. The agent is simple to install, but some of the plug-ins can be a challenge.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

Support can sometimes be a pain to work with, since most of our experience is creating tickets and emailing back and forth. Instructions for some for some of the plugins is sometimes not adequate but has become better over the years.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We needed a way to tie together performance data with application errors. Many of our teams use it to help diagnose issues by narrowing down the issue to a specific time and looking for correlations between performance problems and application errors.

  ### 21. Total info on what's going on in your application

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Vahram D. | CTO, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 02, 2017

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Intuitive UI and lots of very useful info. In the overview you basically get all the info you need to know about how your app is performing. Installing is very easy and the performance breakdown info is priceless. Whenever something goes wrong you can see it in the charts, be it a bad piece of code, database query or just a nasty error.
Errors section needs special attention as you get detailed info on what went wrong and where.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

Performance breakdown is only available for slow transactions. This is fine in most of the cases, but after you're done with the slow ones it's hard to get info on the fast ones. Also you need to push some basic info to New Relic as some important metrics are not gathered by default. Some concepts like APDEX and T-values are not very intuitive at first, but are cool when you know what you're dealing with.

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

The price, if you can afford it, it's totally worth it.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

PHP application performance monitoring across multiple servers along with MySQL database cluster.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Eugene B. | Owner, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 01, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Installation process very easy and it was no difficulties along the way. The interface is very intuitive. Their free plan allows to use it even for very small projects/companies.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

Android/iOS app is buggy and not many features, so checking performance on the go is not so comfortable. Price is not that big, but it basically doubles the cost of a server.

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

As it has a free version and very easy installation process, it is definitely worth trying. For small companies/projects basically, there are no close competitors to this product.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identifying errors and performance problems before our users will report them via support requests.

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Gives amazing detail as to the events and usage and errors on a php server.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

Very expensive. We're still just using the free trial... I think it'll be a while before we'd pay for the full version.

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

None, it's great, give it a try.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It catches php errors that our normal logging doesn't, including performance problems.

  ### 29. Great APM With Plenty of Features

**Reviewed by:** John (Jack) R. | Chief Security Officer, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 05, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

We are migrating to new relic from datadog. The cost savings was amazing. Bill dropped from 400k to less than 100k

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

nice, flexible dashboards for monitors
supports SAML standard

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

as our needs are relatively simple, there isn't much we've found that we dislike about it. I guess if it was nitpicking, I'd say it would be nice to be able to view more than 1 application at a time on a dashboard.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

New Relic helps us display monitors for critical applications on a dashboard in our office so we will know if there have been any recent issues or spikes.

  ### 32. The best server analytics I've ever used. Totally recommend!

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Levan V. | Full-stack Developer, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

You'll need some access right on your server to install new relic.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We make sure our servers are up and running and out applications are doing well. We monitor all this with New Relic server monitoring and APM.

  ### 33. Tons of insights

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Breakdown of request time spent in various layers (application code, database, etc.)
Error rate and response time monitoring.
Alerting and ability to hook up to multiple channels (PagerDuty, Slack, email)

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

Alerts don't include graphs (like DataDog) and often the graphs are helpful. Can be hard to configure alerts to quickly subside.

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

While expensive, the window into your application that New Relic provides is a huge value add.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Proactive monitoring and alerting of our web applications, as well as mechanism to dive deep into drivers of application performance.

It would probably not be work paying for by itself, but we are using the NewRelic APM package.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Uptime monitoring and 'on-call' alerting to downtime.

  ### 36. Best APM experience

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Marketing and Advertising | Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 08, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

This product has the most critical features that have saved my bacon multiple times. Without New Relic I would have probably been fired for not figuring out what was wrong with critical client production sites. The Java profiling tools were the best I've ever seen.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

There's such incredible depth to this tool that it is nearly impossible to figure out all the ins and outs without extensively using it for months at a time.

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

Try it first, everything pales in comparison.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I have been able to address direct and user errors by determining the slowest behaving pages and application calls and queries that have an immediate user impact in performance. This prevents customers from leaving the site out of frustration.

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Having application monitoring is crucial to understanding how a system is performing, and understanding why it's performing this way. I use the transaction trace the most to find slow transactions and their cause. I also use the database section for long-running queries to find optimizations. Errors are also helpful to see what kind of errors users are seeing.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

The UI can get a tight. Many layers of stack traces are hard to display. Also, the data is not "up to the second" fresh. It takes a few minutes to watch the charts update.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We solve performance issues and exceptions in production using New Relic. Often, new relic points right to the problem if we know where to look. We've been able to find issues in minutes that would have taken days to find without monitoring.

  ### 38. New Relic APM is easy and very helpul

**Rating:** 3.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jyoti T. | Software engineer, Information Technology and Services, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 18, 2017

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

New Relic enables its customers to realize extensive savings in time and money as it streamlines everyday business operations. Distributed Tracing support will let you track a user request through every service in the chain and more easily discover latency issues, path errors, and performance bottlenecks.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

No such dislike. Application setting up is a bit complex.

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

Take free trial to test application performance at least once.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Application performance used to drop at peak traffic hours. New relic helped to find the exact MySql database queries that were consuming most of the CPU. We traced and resolved all such database queries and functions. Now application performance is far better.

  ### 39. A wonderful service for performance monitoring and troubleshooting.

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ben M. | Head of Development Technologies, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** October 30, 2017

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

You can effortlessly drill deep down into the code of a web application to find out things like where the most time is being spent by the server, what's using up the most memory, how much time is spent in certain functions throughout the lifecycle of your application, etc.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

The pricing can be prohibitive for freelance developers. You often need other tools to go along with NewRelic in order to fully troubleshoot a problem, but that's to be expected with an APM.

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

If it fits in your budget, it could be an indispensable tool to maximize your application's performance.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We need regular insight into how our applications are performing and tools to use to track down performance issues. NewRelic provides these tools and lets us focus on actually improving performance instead of figuring out how to troubleshoot performance issues.

  ### 40. New Relic always saves the day

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** April 26, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Absolutely love the APM. It's always quick to find out exactly what the problem is. Also, deploy lines are great for helping diagnose performance regressions.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

The fact that the servers product is deprecated and the front end monitoring is poor at best.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

New Relic helps us to diagnose performance bottlenecks.

  ### 41. Great preformance and activity monitor

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Financial Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 10, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

The easy to configure GUI allows us to manage and prioritize the information that is most useful to our teams. It has proved very useful as an activity monitor allowing us to priorities channels for our customers through their peak usage times.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

The only flaw I can find with the GUI is the auto logout timer. We use the UI on a heads up display in the office and it times out every two weeks or so. It would be great if there was an option to bypass this.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Real time monitoring and analysis of customer traffic while maintaining a performance baseline.

  ### 42. Commendable Solution

**Rating:** 3.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** SUKUMAR E. | Specialized IT Consultant, Information Technology and Services, Enterprise (> 1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** May 24, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Ease of implementation, adaptable to current and future requirements. Change implementation is easy.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

New relix is a comprehensive toolwoeks well in most of the scenarios, could have been agentless.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Reporting KPIs on custom dashboards

  ### 43. New relic application monitoring

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 07, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

New relic gives great overview on the application performance as well as good drill down to the details on the possible performance bottlenecks

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

The service is a bit on the more expensive side and the pricing isn't that clear either

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Identifying possible performance issues on our applications

  ### 44. Not quite as useful as the desktop version

**Rating:** 2.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Internet | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 31, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

If you're looking to take a quick glance at your application's performance graphs while you're on the go, you can do that here.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

Its value is limited because no one would realistically address an issue or do extensive debugging on a mobile device. I feel like they are trying to simply tick the box off that says "Has mobile application", rather than give engineers a tool that they could realistically use to resolve problems.

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

Use the desktop version with all of the tools.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I'm able to maintain an eye on application performance when I'm out and about. That's not a positive thing, because it kinda messes with the whole idea of work-life-balance.

  ### 45. Helps my team stay on top of all of our apps

**Rating:** 4.5/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Ashley S. | Jr. Front End Developer, Internet, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** June 15, 2017

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

I like that New Relic keeps me in the loop in regards to what's happening with the applications my team has created. Anytime there's something wrong, I can go in there and start figuring out what the problem is. I also really like the weekly recap emails that let me know the overall health of our apps and any issues that we had during the week.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

I'm a newer user so I sometimes find New Relic a bit overwhelming. I like what it does, but haven't figured out all of the places that I need to go in order to find what I'm looking for. I wish there was a better on-boarding process. In general, I only go into New Relic if there's an issue, but I'd like to start using New Relic on a daily basis to keep tabs on our sites and applications.

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

I'm not sure what other products are out there, but New Relic does a fantastic job of notifying my team when there are problems with our servers or apps. This is the first company that I've worked at that has had tracking like this, and now I don't know how any company could operate without a product like New Relic.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Anytime we start having a problem with one of our apps, I immediately log into New Relic to see if I can determine what the problem is. New Relic helps me narrow down my diagnostics so that I can fix the issue faster.

  ### 46. Great insight

**Rating:** 4.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 30, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Easy to use and a lot valuable insight and reports

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

Some apm agents need improvements.. but over all good

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Bottleneck and performance

  ### 47. The most in-depth view of application performance that I've seen

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** January 13, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Great default dashboards and metrics get collected and created without you having to do much work at all, very easy to setup and get going!

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

The price per unit is very high, this makes the tool more suitable for larger enterprises with a big budget vs a small startup

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

If you can afford it, it's definitely worth the investment

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Deep dive into application performance, being able to understand exactly what is causing a spike in application performance that affects customers

  ### 48. Big fan of this APM solution

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Verified User in Information Technology and Services | Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** July 12, 2018

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Easy to set up and manage, great alerting

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

A little expensive, but well worth the money

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Proactive issue discovery, the ability to easily gather stack traces

  ### 49. Great for advanced website monitoring

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Phil A. | Director, DevOps, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** December 12, 2017

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

It''s basically hosted selenium so our existing tests work

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

No dislikes other than perhaps cost. The checks/mo cost are a bit on the higher side.

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Advanced monitoring of our website status, allowing control of the browser to do things like log on and check various parts of the site which trigger different back end components.

  ### 50. A radar for zero visibility operations

**Rating:** 5.0/5.0 stars

**Reviewed by:** Jorge A. | Co-Founder & COO, Computer Software, Small-Business (50 or fewer emp.)

**Reviewed Date:** September 07, 2017

**What do you like best about New Relic?**

Drill down into information is pretty easy and useful, slow query log analysis is awesome, also the fact that you have insights in your server and in your user's browser at the same time.

**What do you dislike about New Relic?**

Installation is a little bit complicated, specially in linux, and you don't always get the same result, none the less you are using the same linux distribution and you follow the same steps.

**Recommendations to others considering New Relic:**

Contact an executive, they get much better deals than the web page

**What problems is New Relic solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We have increased our SLA from 98% to 99.99% we understand better our infrastructure and that allows us to offer a better service.
