"False expectations- did not deliver. Ukranian team, no US market knowledge. No management oversight"
Describe the project or task CIENCE helped with:

Project involved lead generation for my VC funded Saas company. Target market is very stright forward, and leads are relatively easy to come by. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CIENCE?

Really nothing, they made no effort to make this relationship work for us. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Poor results for a US outbound campaign"
What do you like best about CIENCE?

Perhaps the onboarding process helped us define our offering slightly better due to having an external team to which we need to explain it in detail. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CIENCE?

We (Euformatics) hired CIENCE to deliver qualified leads in the area of clinical labs and hospitals in the US for genomic data analysis software. Everything seemed fine in the beginning when ramping up their knowledge about our offering even though the onboarding took longer than we were told during the sales process. Once the actual outreach started we saw very few results, only a few meetings over 4 months and costs of more than $20k. It was quite frustrating to listen to their explanations every 2 weeks during our calls about how we are just where we should be in terms of metrics (open rate of emails, connection rate on calls etc.) even though the actual deliverables (qualified meetings) were not produced. During the sales process, their representative talked about getting 10-12 qualified meetings per month. The reality was 0,5 per month. So the gap between promises and reality was just too high.

We decided to take this leap of faith based on some positive reviews I found online but it turned out to be a total waste of money so I figured it would be fair to warn others that there is a very real possibility of failure as well. On a positive note, the people on the project team were nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"COMPLETE Waste of Money"
What do you like best about CIENCE?

The only redeeming thing about this service was that they gave us an extra two months for free after our original team had all left the company. They only did this so they wouldn't have to give us any sort of refund, however. The free two months brought no more success than the prior ones. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CIENCE?

Everything. From the very beginning, we knew we had made a massive mistake. Our "dedicated team" regularly missed meetings, failed to meet deadlines, refused to deliver on any promises, never made changes to improve the campaign, didn't respond promptly to emails, and, in the end, stopped working at the company. The biweekly meetings with them were straight up painful. The Cience team would regularly simply not respond to certain questions or stumble through asinine excuses for why basic things weren't being completed. In the end, we were assigned a new team to "find some success." Given that you pay for a 7-week onboarding period with each new campaign, the two months we got with the new team was hardly a good faith effort of them finding any success. Instead, it was more of the same - cringe-inducing meetings that just wasted more of our time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Professional and Responsive"
Describe the project or task CIENCE helped with:

We used Cience to generate leads for our sales team. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CIENCE?

They were professional and responsive. We wanted to try something different from their usual model and they were open to working with us. When they sent us their initial playbook to review at the start of the project it was clear that they had listened to us properly and understood our needs. When we didn't get the desired results they troubleshot with us and adapted the strategy. The quality of their written emails and phone calls was very high.

I would also add that much of the Cience team is based in Ukraine including our project manager. When the war broke out we were prepared to be compassionate and understanding about the impact that may have on their work on our account. However, in reality, there was very little to no interruption. The account manager continued to operate and other staff outside of Ukraine filled in the gaps. Given the circumstances, I consider this above and beyond. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Panacea3 / CIENCE Review"
Describe the project or task CIENCE helped with:

They have been tasked with outbound lead generation, setting us up appointments, and giving us the opportunity to land sales by eliminating the prospecting work so we can perform other duties. They are essentially our "P3 Sales Team", something we never initially had. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CIENCE?

They are thorough and clear in their communication. Prompt answers to questions when asked. They handle the difficult task of finding prospects for our company to work with. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Disaster"
Describe the project or task CIENCE helped with:

I was a big believer in this program until I became a customer. Unfortunately, the company cannot seem to get much of anything right, and after 5 months, I’ve seen only a couple appointments.

On the positive side, the company has good intentions, and what appears at first glance a solid formula. The execution, however, resulted in one mistake after another which taken together, threatened to harm our brand. The first problem was with the simple sourcing of contacts. I made clear that we wanted to target mid-size general “hospitals” but for the first 4 weeks of lists coming across for review there were so few qualified leads, they could not source the 35 contacts per day they promised to outreach. Anyone with the ability to read could clearly see the lists were NOT hospitals, so it was a mystery why I was being asked to evaluate them. Finally, I suggested the use of NAICS codes to identify hospitals, which was something their CMO suggested they would typically do, however, at the lower levels of the company it seemed they did not know what an NAICS code was. Other execution efforts were problematic: they created a signature line for my assigned rep but the phone number on it was wrong. Then they fixed it, but the voicemail did not work. Then they launched a landing page that, within a short while, no longer functioned properly because links were broken (as far as I know, they don’t follow up with people hitting that page either). The concept of quality control for their activities seems nonexistent.

Then there is the revolving door. When I complained that my account manager was not answering my simple questions, they replaced him with a new employee. By this time, it was clear the program was failing, and any other company would probably assign a veteran, senior manager to ensure the failure was resolved quickly. The night before our outreach campaign was set to begin, I was told that my project manager was going on vacation – worst possible timing. I now find the excuse hard to believe because that person never returned from vacation and is no longer with the company. In fact, there has been a constant shuffling of people assigned to or supervising my account. Just the other day, the second project manager assigned to my account announced she was leaving the company. In response to my frustration my AM wanted to set me up with a manager that is senior to her in the company to repeat what I’ve been saying all along. Then she left the company, and a week later, the person responsible for sourcing contacts left the company too. They replaced my AM with another new hire.

I’ve come to distrust much of what this company tells me because even the data coming across from their activities makes no sense to me. By the time of the 6th week of outbound calls, the company was over 500 contacts short of the promised 35 contacts per day. When I showed this to them on a spreadsheet (and it's a problem that I even had to), they miraculously contacted 690 in 2 weeks, but performance did not change. Do the math and you’d be as suspicious as I am that the activity really happened, but bottom line is I’ve not seen results.

Throughout this experience I’ve made my concerns known, and I’ve never been challenged on my expectations of one demo per week of our product. This should not be hard to achieve, we are not a start-up, we are a 22-year-old company with a product already proven to be commercially successful. We have boatloads of collateral, references, videos, sales tools, etc etc to be leveraged in this project. When I spoke to the CMO on a few occasions, he validated my frustrations and extended our contract, but nothing changes.

I notice now a number of zero star reviews on this company that I did not notice when doing my initial due diligence. I noticed the CMO responded to a few to defend the company’s practices. Note that I sent this review to the company one full month before the end of the contract to warn this review was coming. There was no response from any senior staff. The program just continued to fall apart. During the last month of service, they assigned yet another AM who was probably the best of the bunch, but by this time all confidence was lost and I canceled the contract.

This is not rocket science. But it’s not science, either. It's a disaster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about CIENCE?

There was nothing about this experience that worked for us. The "pitch" sounded great but totally cratered on execution. It got to the point I did not believe anything I was told. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Waste of $$"
What do you like best about CIENCE?

The onboarding process was relatively smooth but that was about it Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about CIENCE?

They did not deliver a single qualified meeting over 3 months of outreach to our addressable market. They seemed to have very little control over their own internal process and they were completely uninformed about our value proposition. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
