"Asana Made OKR Planning Faster—Clean UI, Smart Goals, Big Time Savings"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Asana?

We religiously use asana every quarter for new OKRs and projects, i set up our teams OKRs and key results. Also link them to projects, so the progress updates itself. Before asana, we had these in sheets and different workbooks, the linking of okrs to projects was difficult, involving a lot of manual effort. With asana, it has helped us save a lot of time and worth every penny. Smart goals helped me tighten vague key results. OKR preps went from 2 days own to half a day or a few hours. The ui is clean and quite. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

For a beginner is it a little difficult to navigate while setting up workflows or connecting projects across my broads. The ui is tricky but once you get the hang of it its easy. It has personally saved a lot of time so i don't mind such small setup problems in the beginning. Also some rules don't apply to sub-task which makes it a little more manual than one would expect. "Precise PDF sign-offs in Asana, but email replies and version control still trip us up"
3/5
What do you like best about Asana?

I help run campaigns for our shops, and every poster has small print that must be exactly right. We used to send the PDF round by email, and last year a poster nearly went to print with the wrong monthly price. Now I upload the artwork to the task in Asana and our legal colleague pins a comment right on the line that’s wrong, so nobody has to guess which number she means. Last month she caught a £20 that should have been £25 in about two minutes. The task also shows who has signed off, so I can see at a glance that it’s safe to send to the printer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

A couple of colleagues still reply by email out of habit, so I copy their comments across myself. It’s also easy to end up with three similar versions of a poster, so I have to be strict about naming them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Flexible, Powerful Task Management with Thoughtful Onboarding"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Asana?

I appreciate that Asana offers multiple layers of options for organizing tasks and projects. Features like recurrences, dependencies, and other tools that let you add complexity to a more nuanced project aren’t typically included in out-of-the-box services, and that’s something I felt our team really needed. From the trainings, I also noticed genuine care put into the getting started section, and it was refreshing to see how far Asana has come since I first started using it back in 2018.

Right now, I’m beginning to build a reporting workflow that needs a higher level of complexity because there are many stakeholders involved, and we don’t have enough seats on our end. Even so, I’m confident I’ll be able to set up a workflow that fits the scoped reporting we currently do. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

So far, I haven’t noticed many downsides. Most of the issues I can imagine would come from not fully understanding how to use the project, or from building workflows, automation, or logic in a way that isn’t clear or easy to follow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Asana Made My Job Search Organized and Stress-Free"
4/5
What do you like best about Asana?

I switched careers this year and applied to around forty companies, and keeping track of it all in my head went badly. I made a board in Asana with columns like applied, phone screen, interview, and offer, and each company is a card. On every card I attach the exact version of my resume I sent, since I tweaked it for different roles, and I set a follow up date one week after applying. Two weeks in, the reminders showed three applications that had gone quiet. I sent short follow ups, and one of them turned into an interview the next week. I also added small subtasks to each interview card, like “read their last blog post” and “write two questions to ask”, which helped me stay calm. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

Asana isn’t made for job hunting, so I had to build everything myself, and my first version had too many custom fields, like salary range and referral source, that I never looked at. Pasting job links and descriptions into every card also got boring fast. There’s no quick summary of how many applications turned into interviews either, so I counted the cards by hand. "Clear Client Visibility and Fast Approvals with Asana Guest Projects"
4/5
What do you like best about Asana?

I’m a freelance web developer with about three clients at any time, and a big part of my week used to be answering the same email: “Hey, how’s it going?” Now each client gets their own project in Asana and I add them as a guest, so they only see their own tasks and nothing else. They can see what’s done and what’s next, and they leave comments right on the task. Last month a client said she never approved a homepage change. I opened the task and her “looks good, go ahead” comment was right there with the date, and the conversation ended in about a minute. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

One client never logged in at all, so I still send her a short email every Friday. Another found even the simple view confusing at first, and I had to do a ten minute call to walk her through it. It’s also easy to forget that guests can read the comments, so I had to get into the habit of keeping my private notes somewhere else. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Asana Risk-Sorted Board Made Tech Debt and Planning Far Easier"
4/5
What do you like best about Asana?

I’m a principal architect, and for years our tech debt was a list in my head plus a few old Slack threads. I made one board in Asana with a custom field for how bad it is if we ignore it. Last quarter an expired certificate on an internal service sat at the top of that list, and we fixed it two weeks before it would have broken checkout. Planning meetings are easier too, because I open the board sorted by risk instead of arguing from memory. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

Teams only update their items when I remind them. The custom field also needs a clear definition, or everyone marks their own item as high risk. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Asana brought order to the quinceañera, although some continued on WhatsApp"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Asana?

This year I organized my younger sister's quinceañera and the whole family wanted to help, which was nice but also chaotic. Every aunt asked the same thing on WhatsApp: "What should I bring?", "Who talked to the venue?" I created a project in Asana with a task for each thing, the cake, the waltz, the souvenirs, the DJ, and assigned each one to someone with its date. Within the tasks, I put small subtasks, like requesting three quotes or confirming the menu. What helped me the most was seeing everything by sections because one day I noticed that the DJ's part hadn't moved for two weeks, so I called my cousin before it became a problem. I also made a form for guests to answer what food they don't eat or if they are vegetarians, and the responses came in as tasks without me having to write anything down. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

Two of my aunts never opened the invitation email, so I had to call them and give them their tasks over the phone. In the end, I kept sending some reminders via WhatsApp, so I couldn't leave that chat entirely. I also went overboard at first with the color tags and spent a weekend simplifying them. "Task Organization and Collaboration Made Easy with Helpful Automations"
4/5
What do you like best about Asana?

The ability to keep all my tasks organized while also being able to collaborate with others at the same time. Using automations to lighten my admin workload so I can focus on doing the actual work is also very important. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

The inconsistency of how things are applied. Why can I create an automation to do one thing at the task level but can't do a similar thing at the project level. Why can I see the roll up actual time, and other custom fields from all the subtasks in a single parent task, but I can't create a dashboard widget that looks at that roll up? Why are subtasks associated with a project but when I go another layer down they are no longer associated. Why can't I tell an automation to look at values of custom field only in the trigger task, not in the parent task if the trigger task is a subtask? Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Asana helped me organize my thesis and move forward with clarity"
4/5
What do you like best about Asana?

I'm doing a master's degree and working part-time, so my thesis was progressing in bits and pieces, and I always felt lost. I set up a board in Asana with a column for each stage: to write, with my advisor, to correct, and done, and each chapter is a card. When my advisor sends me comments, I paste them on the chapter card and turn them into subtasks, so I don't have to remember what he told me in the last meeting. Last week I saw that I had three chapters stuck in 'to correct' and understood why I felt overwhelmed: it wasn't that I wasn't making progress, it was that I wasn't closing anything. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

At first, I put too many columns and color labels, and I spent more time organizing the board than writing the thesis. I had to delete half and leave only what I really used. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User-Friendly Asana with Helpful AI and WhatsApp Integration"
5/5
What do you like best about Asana?

What I really enjoy about Asana is it's very user friendly interface. It is very simple to use, and almost each part is self explanatory. Asana's AI, Work with Dash, is one very helpful tool, you can literally ask it anything within Asana and you'll get a proper answer, unlike other AIs I've come across. I love the WhatsApp integration, Whatsana because my executive and I communicate on WhatsApp a lot, and all I do is just forward tasks to Whatsana and that's it. I also like the fact that there's a free tier, very helpful for organizations that want to see how it works over a long period before committing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Asana?

Not really a downside because it's a business that also needs to make money, but more members in the free tier would be great. Again, not really a downside. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
