&lt;p&gt;The step that seems to survive even in these integrated setups is anything requiring judgment beyond the raw measurement, applying a waste factor, a site-specific labor adjustment, or a material substitution that the assembly wasn&#39;t built for. The quantity itself carries through cleanly, but the moment a number needs a human decision layered on top of it, someone tends to type that adjustment in manually rather than trusting the system&#39;s default assembly pricing, which is really a different problem than re-entering a measurement, it&#39;s re-entering judgment the software can&#39;t fully anticipate.&lt;/p&gt;
