"the best lightweight, ultra-fast universal editor and IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

If I'm not using IntelliJ, I use visual studio code. I love how you can use it for python, javascript, XML, JSON files. Honestly, I use it for various reasons! For instance, today I was using it to copy JSON data from the database and used a plugin downloaded within visual studio code to format it so it's easier to read through the data. I also use it for front-end app development (in JavaScript). I'm locked into IntelliJ for any java development, but anything else, visual studio code (VSC) is my go-to software. It's crazy fast, too! I never have lagging or memory issues. I also use VSC as my basic text editor, because even if I close out of VSC, when I open it back up it's all there - it saves on the fly. I stopped using NotePadd++, TextEdit, and a bunch of text editors I had downloaded previously. There are so many plugins you can use and search within VSC, too. Overall, it has strong native support for numerous languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The only downside I find sometimes with VSC is that there's a learning curve. The settings and functionalities VSC has to offer aren't as obvious as you would imagine it to be. It took me a while to find a plugin for prettier-format code for JSON; I had to do some digging and clicking around to figure out how the program works. It's user-friendly, beautiful user interface, super-fast, but everything it's capable of is not transparent. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best editor for writing code and a must have tool for every developer"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

First of all, this is an open-source product and a very beginner-friendly code editor with lots of features. It has an integrated terminal and version control system Git which helps me to collaborate with others very easily. VS Code is extremely lightweight with many powerful features and lots of free available extensions which allow someone to write code efficiently with the auto-completion features. It allows a developer to work with multiple programming languages without any hassle. I have been using VS Code for over 3 years and it fulfils all of my requirements. What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I never found any drawback using this software so far. This is the best development tool and a must-have tool for every developer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It is one of the best text editors out there, hands down!"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The things I like the most are:

1. It is completely free for commercial and private usages!

2. It is easy to use with lots of inbuilt tutorials if you ever get stuck.

3. It supports almost every programming language out there, you just need to install the extensions for the same.

4. It has an inbuilt file explorer, with a different section for managing your workspace files, projects, etc.

5. Lots of customizable features including the appearance, editor layouts, color themes, and much more! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The things that I dislike:

1. Changing the settings can be hard sometimes for a beginner, I struggled with it too.

2. The debugging process can be improved by making it faster.

3. It can sometimes consume high CPU usage if you're using it for big projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visual Studio Code is hands down the best product Microsoft has released in the last decade"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VSCode is a pleasure to use, based on Electron it is a fast, attractive and cross-platform IDE that has a rich feature set. Extensions allow you to extend its funcionality and are both official and commuity sourced. It particularly suits .NET Core and Node.JS style development - using just directories and files, no need for proprietary project files and solutions anymore. If you are developing and supporting older .NET framework solutions - best to stick with Visual Studio. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I have no real dislikes with VSCode; the only thing I could say is that there is no official release for BSD-based operating systems (though there is now a port available). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"VS Code: Best code editor for collaborative developement"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like Visual Studio Code because it is freely available and has fantastic features like integrated terminal and version control system Git which helps me collaborate with my colleagues very easily. It also has many extensions which help me in write efficient code quickly. It is an extremely lightweight IDE which has so many powerful features that can easily run on a low specification system as well. It is maintained by microsoft and gets better with every update on a monthly basis. Also, it enables me to customize its shortcuts, look and feel etc the way I want. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The only thing I dislike about Visual studio code is that the interface is a little bit confusing for new users, which can be simplified. Also, the extensions sometimes doesn't detect errors in my code, but that's not a very big problem. Rest all is good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Make your coding writing easy in any language with Visual Studio Code."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code has a lot of features. I like some features out of it so I would like to mention some features here.

1. Visual Studio Code Extensions: Almost all the extensions are available in Visual Studio Code. Available extensions like Python, Jupyter, Pylance, Docker, etc.

2. Visual Studio Code Run and Debug: This is the most important feature for developers who writes the code for projects. After writing code successfully, either we can run code or debug the code using this feature. If sometimes the code does not give the desired output that time you can use debug feature. Debug feature gives you step-by-step execution output so you can find where code diverts from desired output.

3. Source Control: Source Control is another best feature that I like most. After successfully write the whole code, We have to push that code into some version control system. We can push code into the version control system (i.e GitHub, BitBucket, etc.) using this feature.

4. Visual Studio Code provides a terminal inside itself. We don't need to open a terminal separately to run a code.

5. Visual Studio Code provides different themes (i.e light, dark). We can open the file, folders, and workplace in Visual Studio Code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code has a bunch of features wherein some features are very hard to use for new people or developers because of the complexity. Other than this everything is okay according to me. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy code Management"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The extensions provided are amazing!! They help with editing and formatting code easily!! It also has different themes so it's easy on your eyes as well!! Great product Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Sometimes it becomes difficult to integrate various projects as it doesn't allow the opening of separate projects. Also to run certain files you have to ensure that they are opened in a folder and cannot run it independently. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
