There's a reson why everyone uses it, VS Code is the easiest to use and most customisable/configurable test editor available. With almost all languages supported. Thousands of configurations available. Settings page for both UI and text friendly people. Thousands if not millions of plugins and themes present. With huge and ever increasing community and awesome Microsoft customer support, you'll never need to worry about everything.
VS Code has made several IDEs obsolete by how feature rich it is. The go to text editor for all programmers, big or small. It can even emulate vim/emacs keybindings. It is also super easy to implement usecase using VS Code as a part of it.
And did I mention the codebase is open source? Awesome indeed, and we use it every single day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
The one thing I dislike is VS Code is built on Electron framework, making it a resource hog. This has improved though in past years. Also can't complaint mush since this also has enabled awesome support on all supported platforms. And several tools built which VS Code interface on the web (like GitHub codespaces).
