"Lightweight and cross-platform"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I love that I can effortlessly switch from PC to mac and use the same familiar IDE. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Sometimes I feel like the extensions are hard to manage and configure - but this is getting better. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"VS Code for Python"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is a lightweight editor with a very good debugging experience. The amount of useful plugins is awesome as well as the stability of the editor. Updates are frequent and the community is constantly adding and updating plugins to make the experience as well as language support better. Debugging Python is a good experience and is treated as a first class plugin by Microsoft now. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

When first using VS Code it did require reading the docs with regards to setting up the debug settings and language support however this has gotten better over time. There is little to dislike about VS Code at the moment as it sets out to be a basic editor without the complexities of Visual Studio Professional. As this is a free open source product support is lacking however the community is strong and growing. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very useful IDE - VSC"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The best IDE ever... it has support for all languages which include Python, C/C++, Java, HTML, Angular, Typescript, and what not.. it is just as powerful and good looking than other paid IDEs which are available in the market. It is open source and from Microsoft so always trustable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Nothing right now. I think the software is really good how it works. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visual Studio Code Review"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I really like how easy Visual Studio Code is to use, and the fact that you can open a whole folder and view all the files in there regardless of if they are text/code files. Very fast, great themes, and I like how when you close the editor all the tabs are maintained when you open Visual Studio Code again. There are so many updates that they have for the editor, especially if you use the Visual Studio Code Insiders Edition, where you can test out the newest features before it rolls out to everyone. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I dislike that within the editor if you have two files open, there is more of an emphasis on split window view than having two open editors (for example when you are using two monitors) so when you want two editors you have to open another editor separately and then drag that tab you want on that window over. Sometimes the terminal within Visual Studio Code takes up a lot of memory, but closing and reopining the terminal solves this issue. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A very good software for very good developers"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The interface and features are great and the add-ons are very useful as well. The git integration is practical as well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I guess I wish the settings would be more available. Otherwise, I don't have much to complain about in this software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very good text editor for the development of web software."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It is super light.

It allows you to highlight the syntax of different programming languages.

Its interface is simple and easy to use.

I like that you can integrate several plugins to improve and expand its functionality.

It has several themes, which allow you to modify the type of text font, the color of the text and the background color, so you can select the one you like the most and customize the text editor to the maximum.

On the side shows a reduced version of the entire text document to move around the most comfortable and orderly. You can also search for words in the document. And it has several keyboard shortcuts. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Some plugins are not very good.

It can be somewhat limited in terms of options and functions.

Although it is quite light, if you try to open lengthy documents it may take a while to open them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Decent Tool Platform Independent Development Project"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Platform Independence, portability, customization.

Support for vast set of programming languages

Available extensions and plugins

Lightweight and hence not resource-hungry

Installation free i.e. you can run without proper installation in your OS Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Extremely limited features with respect to standard and hugely popular IDES like Visual Studio

Lack of Project Structures and project Templates made enterprise-wide application development very difficult.

"better every day"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The integration with other extensions.

I can write my code and check if there is some dependency left, or some variables and functions are not used.

Also, the integration with git is fantastic: I do not like to use any visual editor, as SourceTree, no manage my git, so VSCode gives me everything I need: review the files (changed, staged, unstaged) and operate with them to add to commit, discard changes, etc.

Other thing I like is the constant upgrades, every week or month I think, so the support is excellent, because there are a lot of employees dedicated to maintain and evolve this product.

I have used atom, brackets, and a few more editors, and after few months I changed them to use a new one. Since I have been using this one, I do not have the feeling or necessity of looking for a new one, and that is interesting to me: the feelings I have when I am working with VSCode, things that I do not know how to describe, but makes me feel confortable with it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Sometimes is complicate to find some files, because there is no distinction between them, both in the open editors preview and the header horizontal file view. Also, I do not like that view because, at first, I did not know that view was scrollable Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like that it can edit many types of programming languages, and syntax highlight them. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I don't like the colour scheme too much, it is hard to see. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
