"The most versatile code editor to ever exist!"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code offers seamless integration for ultimately everything! Nobody likes working with a featureless editor, so Microsoft has done a perfect job at providing something everyone can benefit from. Out of the box, VS Code comes with Emmet, integration with Git, a wide range of customizable options for every extension and layout of the program, and so much more.

Here's what I love most:

1. A wide range of extensions and customizability.

2. Lightweight and never crashes (all work is saved within cache even if you never saved it as a file).

3. Debugging makes solving issues hassle free.

4. Integrated terminal with the ability to add your own.

5. The wonderful community is always there to answer your questions if you have a problem!

6. VS Code is open-source and a community-driven project.

7. Works on all platforms. (Mac, Windows, and Linux)

8. Developers pay attention to issues & feedback.

9. Very clean UI making it easy to personalize to your own liking.

10. Many shortcuts to shorten the tasks you'd normally do manually. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Since this program hasn't been around for the longest time, it is being developed constantly. With that being said, I do find it to be a little buggy here and there. Yeah, it does support many languages; however, you have to install a bunch of extensions to really expand upon what's already there. It would be great if the community picked their most used languages and voted on the ones to be included upon install.

- A slight delay exists in opening files/huge folders.

- Git being directly integrated with VS Code takes a little bit of an initial set-up to get used to.

- Some extensions could be expanded on.

- Debugging takes time to get used to. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Ability to open various types of code, various languages. Downloadable extensions, plugins, and themes help the user to customize their UI Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I don't have much negative to say, I've used VSCode, Sublime, Atom, Notepad++, VIM, nano, etc. I was a huge sublime fan for years but since VSCode came out, I've switched completely. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the best things Microsoft makes"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like the plugins you can install for specific languages and the suggestions of corrections to fit the language you're working in and the descriptions it provides of how your code would work in that language. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I dislike that when working in JavaScript, it has textboxes hovering over your code as you type. Yes, JS can get tricky and I understand it's trying to help, but often I can't see what I'm typing. This is a minor dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visual Studio Code is good stuff"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is modular and this allows users to view many different file types. Programming languages, some types of Excel, XML, CSV, and on and on. If you are adventerous, you can even make your own filter for a file type not yet implemented. It is possible to create an entire project, starting with GIT, coding, debugging, and publishing. if you are using one of the cross-platform languages, then it is possible to run the code on another platform. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

VSCode is still a work in progress, they are still building on it. Having said that, it is nice that there is a monthly release cycle to enhance it. additionally, even though they complete a feature - there is a good chance that the interface for the feature will change at a later date. "Lightweight yet powerful"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Very lightweight and powerful with a massive community of plugins. Very nice to use and contributes to a good development workflow. Works on all platforms. Great terminal and git intergrations Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Honestly there is not much to dislike about it. It does the job very well and if something is missing there is most likely a plugin you can use to get that feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great multipurpose IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like how people can tap into VSC and really bring out features that are incredibly fast and integrated with VSC. I also like how Microsoft creates updates and new features for this product very regularly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I don't like how VSC doesn't have a lot of built in features that VS already has. I understand that this is a lightweight IDE and they didn't have this in mind. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great for editing code and beyond"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code is a great code editor with a good repository of plugins that provide additional support. Code debugging is built into the editor too. There are a variety of themes to choose from that allow styling the editor to your liking. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The only downside I can think of is that Visual Studio Code is built on Electron rather than being a native app like Sublime Text. This probably means performance is not quite as good but I haven't noticed any degradation. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
