"The coding environment that I have always used. Easy to use and lightweight"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I use Visual Studio since I went to college, for me it is one of the text code editors that exist. The software itself is a simple and light. The reason I develop in this environment is because it includes support for debugging. In addition, it also integrates with Git. It has the ability to predict some codes, especially if they are HTML or PHP. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I don't consider it a good editor to program in CSS, because when opening any file the code gets messy. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"I Don't See Changing Anytime Soon"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Every developer has played around with various things to craft their code from text editors to IDEs, etc. You get used to one and then it can be hard to change. Learning new shortcuts and the various quirks that come with each one takes time. It only took one new feature for me to throw caution to the wind and change. The release of WSL 2 turned my world upside down. Being able to write code and then execute it right in a Linux terminal in VS Code made it a no brainer to change. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Managing all of the extensions can be a hassle. Sometimes it is difficult just to locate the right things in extension search which has led to downloading more extensions than needed to find the one that I actually wanted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"An efficient and feature rich editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

We just use it for mostly Front-end technologies and not very often in the organization as this is an open source editor but I personally use it everytime.

It supports wide range of technologies along with extensions to provide exciting features.

The built in terminal is a big help to install libraries, modules, running the project on the go to test the development server, integrated version control system, ability to open multiple terminals at a time which can be powershell, bash, git cli or any other terminal version installed on the system and enabling the use of package managers to handle packages and libraries.

The terminal also doubles as a logger and has a utility to debug.

We can import a whole workspace into the editor at once or create multiple instances of the editor to open multiple projects at a time.

Once a version control system is connected to visual studio code, we can easily select files to stage, commit and push the code from the built in widget. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Too many extensions with similar features often create confusion in selecting the right one for the intended use.

Extensions installed into visual studio code will sometimes conflict with each others features and show undesirable errors on the code written even if the code is syntactically correct.

Too many extensions slows down the Editor measurably.

We can search through all the files at a time but the representation of the search results is sometimes a little confusing due to the listing and visual representation of the results. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
