"One of the best IDEs I've ever used for web development."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VSCode is a light-weight, easy-to-use, and interactive IDE that allows you to code and manage multiple projects easily. It allows you to customize and personalize all the settings including themes, keyboard shortcuts, syntax highlighting, and much more. It offers multiple programming language support, IntelliSense, auto-indentation, GIT Integration, in-built CLI, and thousands of free plugins to use from. One of the best things about VSCode code I personally love is that I can even write the complete HTML code of a page by writing 1 line. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Sometimes plugins (extensions) don't work as they should. Another disadvantage is that one should be aware of the configuration settings as extensions and each language requires different types of configuration. For example, you need to manually tell about the path of node_modules dependencies as it doesn't include it automatically.

Next, one cannot open the same projects in the different windows. Also, the troubleshooting of extension conflicts is hard to find. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Amazing and free Code Editor with integrated IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It is integrated with IDE, and we can use almost all programming languages here, such as python, java, and many more. It has the option to add different types of plugins to code more efficiently, such as Babel JS, LiveServer, and many more. We can integrate it with git and bitbucket as well to push directly from here with commands Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Everything is fine with Visual Studio Code; it is just consuming more memory that is the one cons part. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Very practical and functional development environment."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I love its interface and the shape of its tools menu, it has options to debug source code of almost any programming language, it is also fast and has extensions with which you can expand its tools and options. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It does not always detect the language of the file that I open, and I also consider that the latest updates have made it a bit cumbersome and slow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"User friendly and straightforward"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It's everything under one application, context sensitive help and suggestions with auto completion, making development very easy. The IDE is great an one of the best I've used, the wysiwyg editor is fanstatic with drag and drop and auto code generation, all you need to do is populate the generated event callbacks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Integration with visual source safe, I would prefer to be able to integrate another version control system as VSS isn't my favourite. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great opensource product"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It has integrated several languages. Plugins are easy to install and there are a lot of plugins that can be used to extend the functionality. Nice and user-friendly user interface. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

At times freezes for no reason. Some of the plugins installed will crash the app and hence will have to restart visual studio code. It is also slow and consumes more memory. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the best software for Web Page Developement"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

In Visual Studio Code, the lines get checked while someone is typing the line. Once the line gets completed, errors get highlighted that time only. It even shows how to fix those errors. Not only that, one can open Command Prompt for working in that software only. Somebody can open one tab but several tabs. Somebody can open several Command Prompt terminals in the software. A person can also open two files together side by side in that software, can even open three tabs side by side and look at them simultaneously. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Installing extensions is simple but configuring them is very complicated. A person can search and install it but configuring it the way you want can make many changes in default, and if not done correctly, it won't work with default settings. I don't know much about other extensions, but what I installed for my work didn't work, and I had to uninstall and reinstall the software to get the default software settings. Sometimes in configuration things can go really bad that one need to uninstall and reinstall the software to get the default software configuration. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Simplest IDE for developers"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The numerous extensions present which ease the coding so much.

Also, the ide easily identifies the type of files and formats it accordingly making it so easy to edit and work. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

There is not much which I dislike about this IDE but sometimes some heavy extensions or custom plugins not work as expected and makes the application to not respond. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The go-to IDE."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is one of the newest IDEs and it is easy to set up and use. It supports almost all languages and has plugins to integrate even more language functionalities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Nothing, in particular, comes to mind. But if they can improve their integration with data analytics languages, it would be nice. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"new to coding but!"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

the software was pretty quick to get up and running - there was a little but of a learning curve but it was generally user friendly and streamlined Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

when i first started using VSC the interface was kind of confusing - the windows can be confusing sometimes though and i lose track of where i am occasionally. things can get cluttered and difficult to sift through unless you're saving correctly and paying attention to where you are.
