"Streamlined HR, but Support and Features Feel Incomplete"
1.5/5
What do you like best about Paylocity?

Payroll, time off submissions, and benefits enhanced has streamlined a lot of processes we have here. Allows us one system to process and a good place to view all employee data in one location. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paylocity?

Service is less than average. We are a self-sufficient company so when we call, it is not a simple question we are asking. We need them to be the experts, and instead, it feels as if they are learning right alongside of us. They push the PEAK articles which have already been referenced by the time we call. We are expecting system experts to be able to get creative and offer solutions. I also feel like the features are about 70% of the way there. They don't offer end to end solutions, but instead bandaids or short term fixes. The features they keep rolling out are unnecessary in my opinion, until they have perfected what they currently offer. Stop trying to get ahead of everything that is trending, and build a system that is more customizable, and usable. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Solid for day-to-day HR, but support and pricing need work"
4/5
What do you like best about Paylocity?

As an employee, the day-to-day experience is pretty low-friction. PTO requests and approvals move quickly. Paystubs and tax documents are easy to find, without having to dig through menus to figure out where they hid them this year. Benefits enrollment doesn’t require a tutorial every time it comes around. And the mobile app actually covers what I need instead of constantly kicking me back to a browser. It’s small stuff, but it adds up. I’m not wasting time fighting the tool just to handle basic self-service tasks. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paylocity?

Customer service response time is the big one. When something actually breaks or needs a fix, it takes forever to get resolved. I've had tickets sit for days with no real update, just a case number and silence. For a system that's this embedded in payroll and HR ops across multiple sites, that turnaround is rough — when something's wrong with pay or benefits, "we'll get back to you" isn't really an acceptable answer.

Pricing is the other one. Feels like every feature you actually want is its own add on. You get quoted a base price and then it creeps up once you start asking for the modules or functionality you actually need to run things properly. Makes budgeting for it annoying, and it's hard to tell going in what the real total cost is going to be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Feature-Rich HRMS, But Setup and Onboarding Support Need Improvement"
3/5
What do you like best about Paylocity?

Generally speaking, they have all the modules and functionality you'd need in a good HRMS "system of truth". It can be customized to fit your needs and I'd think it could fit and add value to a large number of businesses. For the price I do feel like there is value. When the sales team reach out it is annoying when they try to push features and not solve your problems. I've told them once we are effectively using our current features I'd love to talk about "what else" and I was met by them not reaching out any longer not by them saying let me see how we can make your experience better. Internally they feel really disconnected. I do really enjoy my current account manager for support, but it took two others quitting before I landed with him. He does seem to have an unrealistic case load. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paylocity?

It was oversold as being a one stop shop and it really isn't that. Once the system is set up it can be effective but it's painful getting to that point and the support and onboarding team don't really know the system and have to go away and trouble shoot everything when you bring it to them. A very different approach than my previous cloud based HRMS platforms. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Effective Payroll and Onboarding with Room for Workflow Improvement"
3.5/5
What do you like best about Paylocity?

I like how Paylocity's Learning Management is designed really well, and I appreciate that the I-9 and Tax processes during onboarding are done well. They have made training compliance easier and made the Tax and I-9 processes more accurate and easier for employees to fill out. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paylocity?

Workflows and automation for workflows are areas in Paylocity that I find lacking. The prefillable forms need to offer more categories to prefill and should include smarter automation, such as automatically populating the targeted employee's relevant information. HR actions could be improved, for example, allowing approvers to view pay change details and attachments simultaneously for better verification. Additionally, workflows should be attachable to specific positions and allow for a one-time launch. The initial setup was very complicated, which was also a downside. "Easy to Navigate and Streamlines Recruiting-to-Onboarding"
4/5
What do you like best about Paylocity?

I like that its easy to navigate throughout the system. I also like that its easy to use. I am a recruiter and I like how the candidates transitions into a employee with the use of the onboarding function Im not sure how much we pay for this system. But the system is a necessity for me in the position that I currently hold with the company Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paylocity?

I hate how quickly it times out, you could be in the middle of writing notes and it will time out. When this happens you lose all your notes in the recruiting function. I started using a different system and then I copy and paste it in Paylocity Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Robust HR Solution with a Steep Setup Curve"
5/5
What do you like best about Paylocity?

I like that Paylocity is so robust, allowing us to do just about anything we need. It's great for solving issues we had with payroll and enables employees to manage their own time, which is fantastic. Employees can be accountable for their training and even check on it themselves, with automatic notifications if something is late. The ability to assign workflows where employees perform multiple tasks, and management can approve these tasks, is very beneficial for us. There's a lot of training material available, which is helpful, and the account managers are great. I can call them anytime, and they guide me through what I need. I particularly enjoy the building and managing of training that Paylocity allows, and although I wish there were more pre-built training modules, the fact that I can build my own training is something I like. It was also a big improvement from our previous system, which only did payroll, as Paylocity allows us to manage training and onboarding effectively. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paylocity?

I wish Paylocity included more safety training modules and videos to reduce the amount of custom training I have to create. Also, it would be great if Paylocity added a feature for managing safety data sheets or a chemical management center, so I wouldn't have to use another software for that. This could help manage all data sheets digitally and streamline the process. Also, a PPE management program to track inventory and assignments would be beneficial. Additionally, the initial setup was difficult, especially working with the onboarding team, as we didn't receive good assistance. However, the account representatives were much more helpful once we got through the initial challenges. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Great Customer Service, But System Could be Better"
1.5/5
What do you like best about Paylocity?

The customer services is definitely better than any other HRIS I have used in the past. I have had 5-6 different ones in my career. It is similar to other HRIS' so it is easy to learn. It does integrate with my favorite background check vendor. It is similar to other HRIS so easy to pick up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paylocity?

The ATS is terrible in so many ways. You can't sort by the tags managers use to mark the reviews and the filter only works half the time. They are not pushing to indeed and I don't know why. They don't go as remote to linkedin and paylocity doesn't know why. There is no AI to help. The auto approve on the offer letters only works about 1/2 the time. Onboarding could be better. There is no way to have employees sign their job description other than to manually create an individual task for each person- even though the system holds all the JDs and knows what role the person is in. There is no way to force handbook acknowledgement. The performance review and discipline processes in the systems leave a lot to be desired. There is no way for employees to sign their performance reviews. Employees can see them before managers meet with them. The discipline is just a place to say I gave a WW, but you can't actually see the document. The bonus process seems pretty bad. we are doing a ton of work to prepare it for next year and I am not confident it is going to work. They don't have real EAF processes, its just managers going in and changing the data instead of doing an actual EAF like other vendors I have used. Employees can't elect benefits while on leave. The vacation and sick are on a delay so you never really know how much time a person has. This has resulted in many employee tears. The time and attendance is the absolute worst. Be prepared to do a full audit anytime anyone asks you a questions about PTO. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Helpful Payroll and Training Tools, but Admin Features Need Clearer Guidance"
5/5
What do you like best about Paylocity?

It is easy to follow the payroll process once you get through all the learning videos. I do like the LMS but sometimes I think all the little videos could be better served as one shared training. Also the Nuts and Bolts for Home is a good training source, I just wish the Web training and the mobile training was separate. We have a majority of employees that only work from their mobile device and this is the only full training on using the mobile app I can find. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paylocity?

As an Administrator, there are a lot of parts I can't seem to find complete information on such as Security Roles. I do not understand half of what is in that section, should it be allowed or not, what does it effect, etc. I am working on Scheduling Plus to set it up to actually work for our company, I can't find out how to assign people to a template so not everyone can make changes if it is Public. "Fast, Flexible Reporting with Clear Pay & Benefits History"
4/5
What do you like best about Paylocity?

The reporting functions. I can extract employee data quickly and build reports that capture exactly what I am looking for. I also like the pay and benefits sections as you can see a full history at a glance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paylocity?

The support I receive is not consistent. I have gotten conflicting information on how to complete a process on more than one occasion, sometimes resulting in significant errors that we had to spend multiple hours fixing. Issues are not fixed in a timely manner and we are often told it has been reported to some other team to be addressed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Paylocity Analysis"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Paylocity?

Paylocity does a great job of being able to house important employee data. Payroll processing is also fairly straightforward. Recruiting/Onboarding functionality is useful and when recruiting candidates, Paylocity has features that foster communicating throughout the recruiting and onboarding process. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Paylocity?

I don't specifically dislike anything. If there is one thing I needed to come up with, I think there are a few sections in employee profiles that are not necessary (for example, I don't think there needs to be an entire COVID section when this can be tracked under other headings) and I wish they could be replaced with more customizable sections.
