It allows for easy access to pay data, including quick locate/print of W2s or paystubs, retirement contribution history, tax reporting. The company directory is also is a useful place to search and locate others to quickly pull emails or other contact info. **What do you dislike about Paychex?** After further use, the appearance is streamlined but sufficient for what is being utilized in my role in my organization. As noted, HR utilizes Paychex moreso than I do in a management role, so there may still be opportunity to improve the look and functionality. But I now find that it is a very user friendly application. **Recommendations to others considering Paychex:** To fully explore all aspects and review any available training to familiarize yourself with the product and all purposes it can service. **What problems is Paychex solving and how is that benefiting you?** The main usage from my perspective would be reviewing/submitting time off requests and pulling any paystub documentation. The employees understood the use of the app. **What do you dislike about Paychex?** Absolutely atrocious customer service at every level of this organization. After years of using them for everything from payroll to CC processing, we decided to make a switch in the last year due to way more affordable options like Gusto. First, our payroll lady blamed us for canceling on me, saying I should have given her a chance to match Gusto's rates...which I did via email, and like normal, no response to my email. The 401K offboarding has been a nightmare. Paychex 401K staff will hardly respond to an email, and when they do, they provide half the requested info, or completely wrong info...then go silent. I also really like being able to submit payroll hours online (old method was email to an account representative). I am the payroll contact person, so when I go on vacation, I can submit a few weeks of payroll in advance and not have to worry about delegating it to someone else while I am out of the office. **What do you dislike about Paychex?** We finally upgraded to direct deposit, so this is no longer relevant! **What problems is Paychex solving and how is that benefiting you?** I have used Quickbooks payroll in the past, so I was skeptical about Paychex when I began using it with a new employer. Now I am a complete convert. We recently had a routine DUA audit, and passed with flying colors and minimal preparation needed on my part. The interface is a little clunky, but once you figure out where things are, it’s easy to use. The login process is a little irritating as the system sometimes won't recognize my device, so it requires 2FA every single time (I get it, security matters...still a little irritating). The sales team was helpful, but that's where it ends. **What do you dislike about Paychex?** They could not handle our payroll, our payroll is not that complicated. We are now paying the same price with a company that can handle our payroll AND HR and recruitment. I'm glad we decided to leave Paychex. The sales team was great, but the implementation team was hard to work with. They made it seem like our payroll was really complicated, in reality it's not and ADP is able to handle it with ease. Payroll prices drastically increased, more than double without notification that a discount was expiring. However, our payroll rep was understanding and rectified the situation by issuing a refund and reinstating our previous price. Then our franchise had to switch payroll services due to a corporate contract change. This change, unbeknownst to me, was not a simple cancellation. It needed to be submitted in writing. They continued to bill me even though I didn’t use their services for almost 2 months. When I asked for a billing correction, they denied me by saying it was in the contract agreement to begin with. The fact that you can fire them? **What do you dislike about Paychex?** Completely incompetent. They failed to pay my withholding taxes for Q1 2022. The IRS came after me in 2024. Paychex said they had in fact made the deposits, but that was not true. The IRS seized my personal refund, and recorded liens against me. In addition to having to pay the back taxes, I had to pay over $20k in penalties and interest. Paychex finally admitted they blew it, but still refused to do anything about it. Six months and probably 50 hours of my time later, I am still fighting with them over this. In the meantime, they failed to process my last payroll on time, and I will probably get hit with more penalties. Even when they are not messing up, their website is a complete mess. They do not respond to emails. The phone numbers on employee emails are not connected.
