"Cannot Imagine version control if not for Github"
What do you like best about GitHub?

GitHub gives the best version control software out there - git. It has taken the open source contributions to another level. Collaborating in a team, working on the same feature and reviewing each other's code has never been easier. Not to forget about CI/CD pipelines integrations, hosting of webpages and many other features for more scalable and robust software development experience. Github provides a very intuitive UI for managing your projects where you can find all your repositories, starred repositories, branches, collaborators and files from your repositories. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitHub?

Previously GitHub didn't let you create private repositories without paying which I used to personally not used to feel good about, as being the flag bearer of open source it was kind of paradoxical but recently this has changed so nothing more to dislike. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"One of the most reliable version control service provider"
What do you like best about GitHub?

In GitHub it visualizes our contribution towards the open-source community. As a result of that all the recruiters who visit our profile can observe our contribution. And this also acts as a boosting mechanism which helps us to track our own progress year by year.

According to my user experience for almost four years GitHub is highly reliable in terms of security.

This also helps to reduce the time taken to develop certain systems as GitHub provides code bases for lots of similar projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitHub?

Almost all the users who use GitHub are professionals. But GitHub do not provide a platform for the developers to maintain a "Developer Story" which we can observe with "Stack Overflow". Therefor it is better to provide such a function if possible.

In GitHub we can "Star" the repositories of others that we like. But GitHub do not have a mechanism to send suggestions for the users while using an algorithm to find the user interests. It is a negative aspect that I have found while using GitHub. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The best web based git for every developer."
What do you like best about GitHub?

GitHub has a clean UI, it’s really simple to understand and to use, it has a huge community so when you are having any issue or want to get a review about your code, GitHub is absolutely the best place for it, GitHub Is offering tons of features for the modern developer for example issue tracking, smart version control system and more great features to help the developer saving time.

GitHub have your back when it comes to security, GitHub is secure and reliable, if that’s not enough it has a 2FA to even be more secure. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitHub?

Well I can’t think of something I dislike about GitHub, it’s absolutely perfect. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"GitHub provides the best version controlling system for software engineers."
What do you like best about GitHub?

I like the cross-platform and easy-to-use interface. Mobile, Desktop and Web all platforms have a lot of quick buttons for frequently used commands and tasks. No more messing with the terminal command line! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitHub?

The fact that after every change in the repository, we need to refresh the UI to see it being reflected is a minus point for me. It could provide real-time statistics for a better understanding of the workflow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Cheap, Easy to Use, and Great for Collaboration"
What do you like best about GitHub?

I've used Github for over 5 years on projects small to large. It's ease of use for new comers with it's intuitive desktop client is second to none. In less than an hour I can have a fresh developer committing, pulling, and managing their project contributions inside of GitHub. Then for those looking for more control, you have a full CLI with powerful tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitHub?

Sometimes it can be convoluted to solve complex merge conflicts inside their desktop client. It's great for regular work but, when things go wrong it completely breaks down requiring someone with more experience using the CLI to solve these issues. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"GitHub is a great tool to version control your projects and collaborate."
What do you like best about GitHub?

I had a fantastic experience with GitHub while programming my customer's projects, GitHub is straightforward to use when you are experienced with git, it has tons of features for users, like version control, code review, issues and bugs tracking, it makes me save a lot of time and make programming a lot easier.

GitHub is secure, really fast, it has 100% availability, and it makes it reliable, I can be sure my customer's projects are in good hands. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitHub?

Nothing to dislike, that's the best git to host your projects, the only thing that seems to be a problem is you have to pay to make private git, but makes perfect sense, a company need to make money somehow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"High availability, reliable, secure web host to version control my projects."
What do you like best about GitHub?

What i like the most about GitHub is it lets you collaborating with your team really easlly, your team mates can just pull and push request changes, you have the option to look at the changes and merge the changes which makes working together really easy and fast without any problems.

The seconds best thing is version controlling, you can easly track your changes and even see or download the older versions which helps you save time if you made some mistake while coding.

And the best thing, GitHub is offering free student developer pack which gives you the pro plan for free! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitHub?

If you aren't purchasing any plan and stick with the free one, youc have limited features for example you arent able to create private git which was really frustrating at the beginning when i had no premium plan. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Groundbreaking Open-source Collaboration through GitHub"
What do you like best about GitHub?

There are so many amazing aspects of what can be done through GitHub. The ability to contribute to the development of different computer code and modules, especially in the Python world is great. With the ability for so many people to collaborate, the room for improvement and growth of computer code and modules is large. Also, the collaboration and discussion on improvements and bugs in code/modules and how to fix them is great. There would be a lot of code bugs that would go unsolved if it were not for GitHub. Also, the searching tools are great and allow you to find just what you are looking for. The ability to download and use code/modules is great too. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about GitHub?

Sometimes, the documentation or how things are posted by different users can be confusing as there are not requirements from GitHub on how things are uploaded or posted. I understand this is hard for GitHub to regulate, though. Overall, I really have very little issues with GitHub. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
