Good product until you starts to upgrade to Github Enterprise **Rating:** 0.5/5.0 stars **Reviewed by:** Jay Y. | Head of Engineering, Mid-Market (51-1000 emp.) **Reviewed Date:** November 27, 2024 **What do you like best about GitHub?** Most of my engineers are already familiar with Github as a version control platform. Customer support is good. **What do you dislike about GitHub?** Github Enterprise sales and pricing is very opaque and arbitrary. In two companies I have engaged with 3 people on their sales team. They can offer discounts from 15%, 40%, up to 60%. You end up with different deals depending on who you engage with. This time, we dealt with an AE Nick, and a Senior Director Karen J. Karen kept offering deals/terms worse than the one from Nick, who is from her own team! And I had to point it to her. It shows how uncoordinated and arbitrary this is. It is very frustrating process to deal. So we stopped our expansion plan on Github (Advanced Security and Github Actions). We may even consider swtiching to Gitlab altogether. There are just so many strong alternatives on this market for security and CI. **What problems is GitHub solving and how is that benefiting you?** 1. We use it mostly as a version control system. We are still using Github for this purpose 2. For Github Advanced Security, we tried but the sale demo was lacking, the pricing was not at all competitive, and we stopped after the 1 month trial. We went for a bundled deal with Wiz.io instead, which is a company focused on security and offers a central dashboard for security. ### 2. They are very slow to reply, even if you are in a crisis. I'm at BRT and they put me someone at Sydney to help me, for god sake. It takes a day for someone to read what you sent. Adding users when you're an enterprise client is a disaster: you need to send an email and wait for days to add new seats. You would think that an enterprise account would have things done faster, right? You're wrong. Github reliability is beyond disaster, almost every month something is down (sometimes every week) **What problems is GitHub solving and how is that benefiting you?** Github is a good platform for git hosting and CI. It also provides excellent security features out of the box ### 3. I don't know how many days it will take time until they respond to me and unblock me. But, I prefer to move to a different platform. Git has been also accused by many users to censorship and bringing politics to its environment. That's not the right way. **What problems is GitHub solving and how is that benefiting you?** I highly recommend github to change its manager and leave it to the previous people. It used to be an environment where everyone was happy. ### 4. I have literally been trying at least once a week for over a month and I still do not have my 2fa reset on my account. Their responses have all been lies. 3 to 5 business days, priority queue, etc. **Recommendations to others considering GitHub:** Look elsewhere **What problems is GitHub solving and how is that benefiting you?** It is our main source control service. ### 5.
