**What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

I use Shopmonkey for everything to do with my shop, from intaking appointments to collecting reviews and everything in between. I no longer need to call multiple vendors, and I love the clear layout of my schedule. I really like the work request form and the fact that I can attach it to my website so customers can fill it out themselves. The initial setup was very easy, and Sebastian made it a breeze—he still helps me out to this day.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

I don't like dealing with duplicate customers and I wish the internal user notes could show up on all of the customer work orders.

**What problems is Shopmonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

I no longer need to call multiple vendors and I have a clear layout of my schedule.

**What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

I really like the online digital experience that Shopmonkey provides to our customers. It's smooth and allows for setting appointments easily. Customers can see in real-time what status their vehicle is in, which is a big game changer for us. We can send them text message updates about their vehicle's status, which our customers love. The digital vehicle inspections and the ability to communicate through text message make the whole process much easier and more efficient. This keeps our customers up to date, which has been a great experience.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

I'm having a bit of trouble on the payroll side. We have technicians that are paid based on hourly and flag hour, so being able to customize the aspects of how we do payroll would help make the numbers a little more accurate. The same goes for our front personnel, who are paid on a commission and hourly. The system doesn't log it correctly. But that's minor compared to the big stuff the system does for us. Also, setting up was a bit difficult at first. We integrated with QuickBooks, and while that part was simple, we had to set up a lot of things on our own, like inspections and rules. It took us about thirty to sixty days to narrow it down and get it working the way we wanted.

**What problems is Shopmonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Shopmonkey organizes our management systems, tracks orders and ETAs, and protects us with internal notes and photos. It enables digital vehicle inspections and online payments, making processes easier, especially for college town customers with out-of-state parents.

My favourite feature is probably the ability to text customers and how easy it is to send and explain invoices/quotes to customers.

there's really not much to complain about, I guess my only suggestion would be to have internal team messaging be on par with messaging customers.

it puts our invoicing, scheduling, quoting, inventory, customer communication, internal time clocks, all into one place.

1.0. We started using them in 2019. After the disaster of what they called the 2.0 update, we moved all of our locations to a competitor.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

Everything feels so clunky. It seems like they tried to squeeze too much into it now, and it just doesn’t flow the way it used to. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!

Shopmonkey 1.0 was great.... the best word I can muster to describe  Shopmonkey 2.0 is "regression"  added key strokes and worse functionality....CUSTOMER SERVICE is a JOKE

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

Shopmonkey 2.0 added a few nice features... but mostly increased the hardship of using the software...within first 2 hours of using the new software I had a conversation with Judy ( which has since vanished from the face of the earth apparently) and I mentioned no less than 10 glitches/bugs/functionality problems.... roughly 2 months ago...since then.... NOT A SINGLE THING HAS BEEN RECTIFIED.

Looks like my path starts with investigating Fieldd or Shift Industry now.... I recommend you do the same !!

I only use Shopmonky as a customer of the shop using it.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

I am a customer of a detailer in Orlando that used Shopmonkey.  They decided to move to different software and Shopmonkey gave their text number to a direct competitor in town called Empire Auto Spa.  I texted my origional detailer to get a couple of projects scheduled and got a response quickly.  Nowhere in the response did Empire communicate who they were.  They pretended to be my detailer and never identified themselves anywhere in the thread.  I figured it out when I got some calls from Empire, that I did not answer, and then got an email summary of the text communications.  The point is if you do business with Shopmonkey just know that when you leave they are going to route your customer inquiries to a direct competitor.  If that's not illegal it should be.

I only use this as a customer of the shop.

This was not a design we're proud of, and we've since moved all businesses to dedicated phone numbers to make sure this can't happen again. **What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

Shopmonkey is so helpful with keeping all my workorders organized and in different categories. I love that I don't have to flip through paper tickets anymore and I can search keywords to find tickets. I also like that it keeps track of time of each employee and I am able to run a payroll report directly from the timeclock page.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

My main dislike currently with Shopmonkey is the syncing with Quickbooks. After the update to 2.0 my inventory did not transfer over correctly so it is throwing my numbers off. This also makes it hard because if an item does not show up in Shopmonkey I have to go to Quickbooks to find the item and the price of it. I am the only one who can do this so it makes my job much harder. I also wish that the paid invoices and invoices themselves automatically transferred to Quickbooks instead of going to Accounting Link and then to Quickbooks. They are currently working on some of the issues but it all takes time.

Using less paper and ink throughout the month. Helping with major organization issues from the past. Easier to search to see if tickets were missed throughout the month.

**What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

We’ve been using Shop Monkey 2.0 since October, and it’s already made managing our shop easier and more efficient. The streamlined interface, fast performance, and improved scheduling tools have transformed how we work. Communication with customers is seamless, and the reporting features provide valuable insights. While the learning curve was a bit steep at first, it’s been well worth the upgrade. Highly recommend!

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

The only issue we’ve had is the 72-hour payment processing time after jobs are completed. It would be much better if payments were processed within 24 hours.

**What problems is Shopmonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

One of the features we’ve come to appreciate most is the scheduling system. It’s incredibly easy to assign jobs, track deadlines, and manage appointments in real time. The drag-and-drop functionality is a great touch, and having everything update instantly has eliminated a lot of confusion among our team. Communication with customers has also been seamless thanks to the built-in messaging system. Being able to send customized text and email updates helps us maintain clear, professional communication at every stage of the repair process.

**What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

My family has been in business for over 40 years and were still doing their invoices and bookwork by hand, mostly because the cost of software was too much to justify the spend. After looking at several options over many years I came across Shopmonkey. The amount of support and information we received before signing up was amazing. After signing up and through set-up customer service was quick to repond and always had an answer right away. The integration of a 'computer' to our 'gear heads' was something no one was excited about.  However, it was easy for them to learn and a month or so into using the platform everyday our guys raved on the difference it made in their day to day work. We don't use many of the features because we're just a small oil change only shop, but those that we do fit our needs perfectly. We have also been able to utilize some of the features not in the exact way they are designed for other shops, but are able to make them fit our format. We are now a year and a half into using the platform.

Way more features than we need for a small oil change shop.

**What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

The ease of use and simplicity of the app are two of the reasons why I LOVE Shopmonkey!  It is so easy to communicate with our customers also and they love being able to text us when they need to schedule an appointment or have any questions about their repair/estimate.  There are so many aspects of the business that Shopmonkey covers - from inventory (where you can reorder at the click of a button), to shop/tech/service performance & efficiency, to time log tracking, and so many more.
I've used 3 other shop softwares in my time working at various shops and Shopmonkey is hands down the smoothest of them all, it also looks the best visually.  Estimates are neat, easy to follow/read by the customers, and the system lays everything out for the technicians/service writers which has upped our efficiency ten-fold.  Simply put, it's the best software out there.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

So far I have not found ANYTHING wrong with ShopMonkey!  Anytime I need help remembering how to do certain things that I've forgotten I just contact the ShopMonkey help window and someone is there to help me within seconds!  We were worried about internet outages affecting our ability to use Shopmonkey but we've found that if our internet at the shop goes out I can easily link to a hotspot or personal data to keep things flowing seemlessly.  So, in reality, there are no issues or problems with Shopmonkey at all!

**What problems is Shopmonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Communication!  Customers LOVE that we are able to communicate easily and quickly!  Before having Shop Monkey it was difficult to keep track of all of our messages to our customers. Now it's simple!
Inventory!  I had trouble keeping track of all of our parts/fluids/chemicals and Shopmonkey shows me exactly how many I have and even lets me know when I'm getting low so I can order more!
Efficiency!  We are a small family shop with only a few workers so maximizing and managing our time is extremely important to our profits!  With Shopmonkey's analytics I'm able to see where and on what services we are losing money, where we are undercharging, and so much more.  We wouldn't still be in business if it wasn't for Shopmonkey.

Being able to stay in touch with customers inside the program.
Helps create and organize workflow for our shop. Loved Version 1.0.
Like Version 2.0 except my list of dislikes.   Happy the dashboard is back.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

Can not change tax amount like before in version 1.  (We have a tax variance in our county for amounts over 5K, so I need to make a manual adjustment).  Needs multiple Tax profiles.   Cant change creation date like before in Version 1.   Can not duplicate customer orders when customer is set to tax exempt like before in version 1.  (If I change the customer to taxable, duplicate, then change them back to tax exempt).  Can not dulpicate an estimate that does not ve a customer assigned.  When entering text in an labor or part line item spell check doesnt work correctly.   The AI is rearly helpful.

Slowly bringing back Version 1.0 features that were lost in 2.0.

I love that we can have one program for many different functions. It is helpful to be able to communicate with customers from their profiles and it is all documented for reference back if needed

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

I do not like that I cannot custom name the fee categories. I would like to add Waste Disposal instead of EPA or for us we do not deal with Tires so it could take the place of "tires" as a fee as well.

**What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

Shopmonkey has been a great program to keep track of all estimates and invoices for all of our Heavy Duty Mechanics shop needs.   Ease of use, with credit card payments and it integrates well with QuickBooks Online.   Customer support has also been quick and helpful whenever needed.   Sending appointments, invoices and notes to customers is quick and easy.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

Some times the GST when intergrated with Quickbooks is off by a cent, so it's an extra step to fix the few invoices.  Nothing major.

**What problems is Shopmonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

Keeping track of inventory, creating appointments, sending estimates and then invoices to customers.  Credit Card processing works well and is convienent for customers to pay online.   Very happy to have everything we need integrated in one program.

**What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

Shop Monkey has been extremely beneficial to our shop as a whole and has allowed us to move completely over to digital workflows allowing us to be paperless for all of our work orders.  It has allowed us to maintain a valid and efficient history of the work we are doing within our shop and has also allowed us to streamline communication between our management, technicians and administration.  The time clock function has also allowed us to be more efficient in tracking times spent on jobs and assessing technician efficiency.

The migration over to 2.0 however has been beneficial and I overall find that it is much more user friendly then the original version and the updates they did make the useability of it much better.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

Customer support needs to improve as response times as a whole are not what I expected them to be and when they do respond it is often well past when I needed support with the problem I was experiencing.  We had problems with the customer service reps quoting us the american pricing in Canadian dollars and also had issues with tax integration with QBO.

Whenever I have had an issue, it's been relatively easy to contact support and get a resolution or at least gather further information into the issue that I'm experiencing.

We have experienced issues with Shopmonkey's inventory engine where it pulls items from our stock, when building an estimate. This has caused us to migrate to an alternative platform for processing of sales orders, purchase orders and inventory logistics.

Customer communication is vastly improved.  We no longer have to try to catch a customer on the phone before end of day.  They can pay after hours and pick up keys in our key pickup system 24/7.

Glitches and system speed.  Occasionally while typing the system decides to skip or even crash.  Lots of wasted time with that and speed.  Tax filings have had to be checked multiple times and errors found almost every one.  qb integration is not good and does not function.

Customer communication is the biggest.  I think it contributes to a much better customer experience which naturally grows the business.

Shopmonkey has been a big help and a great program for the last handful of years. It speeds up workflow in too many ways for me to list, and I usually recommend it if you're feeling like things at your garage could be more streamlined, because Shopmonkey is how. The text/email integration as well as parts ordering is a big advantage and I couldn't imagine operating without it.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

Shopmonkey is falling very quickly from where it once stood. The customer service is not as personal as it once was, and the lack of updates is painfully frustrating when you're being told about the "new version" for multiple years with no release, and yet the current version is still breaking once a week keeping you from using it for hours on a busy day. It is becoming more difficult by the day to recommend Shopmonkey, a program I once praised to everyone to a program that is very useful but has better alternatives at far better prices.

Shopmonkey speeds up everything that is done in the office. Creating estimates, ordering parts, getting authorization, etc. They also create issues once you rely on these things becuase they often stop functioning in the middle of your workday.

I love that you can set up canned service prices for different customers &/or accounts. Therefore, it makes it super easy to build an invoice for any particular account/customer.
Another feature I like, is the "Send to Quick Books" option. Not only can we send the invoice to QuickBooks but we can also send payments. This makes book keeping very friendly and easy to keep on.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

The only true dislike is the app version of the program. Its not as user friendly as the web base program and harder to navigate between invoices & /or customer. However, its not impossible to use and with a few minor tweaks, im sure they can get the APP version more user friendly.

**What problems is Shopmonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

The main thing Shopmokey helps solve with our particular shop is production. Meaning, its very helpful with running daily production in the shop and each tech is able to use the computer to pull up the production board and select their next job from there. They can assign themselves to a particular job and once completed they can move the tile on the production board to the next repair stage. Therefore rather you have computer skills or not, the production board is very user friendly.

The ability to send reminders to customers.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

The program freezes all the time and we can't access inventory or create new work orders.  When creating invoices we can't always see how much time the tech's have clocked in to the different jobs.  When looking at reports you can't see the tech productivity due to the glitches in the program.  When looking at inventory reports, you can't see how much of an individual part you sold or who you sold it to unless you want to scroll through pages of inventory and add all the parts up yourself - which is super time consuming.  When Shopmonkey upgraded this last time, they changed how inventory was entered.  So you had to go back through all your inventory and enter Min and Max amounts or your parts wouldn't show up as needing to be reordered.  There's just so much wrong with Shopmonkey.  When we signed up we were told we would always have access to our information even after we cancelled our subscription.  Now, after I've cancelled our subscription I'm told we only have access to all of our information for another 30 days.  So I need to figure out how to export everything so we don't lose all our information for the last 2 years.  We're moving on to Fullbay, it's a little more expensive but there are way more features that are included in your subscription.  We're looking forward to the barcode system Fullbay offers for inventory as well as their reports.

We use Shopmonkey daily to run our business. Shopmonkey is very easy to use. We are able to expand our needs and offerings with the Shopmonkey software. The sofware intergarated easily into our system so we had no downtime. Lastly their customer support is great and easily accessable. They are one of the few companies that follow up to make sure any issues are addressed quickly. There isn't much I don't like. Every once in a while there will be a glitch in the system but the Shopmonkey team seems to jump on it quickly so it get resolver asap. The only other thing I can think of is if there is a way to compare YTD reports with previous years all showing on the same screen so you don't have to do each report seperately.

Shopmonkey is so easy to use! In no time at all , our shop was navigating Shopmonkey system with ease. This system lays out everything right in front of you, each work order, parts ordered, which tech is assigned to what, it just has everything necessary for streamlining your business' workflow!

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

The only downside to Shopmonkey that we have noticed is that you are unable to search a work order using dollar amounts. Occasionally when a mistake is made on the bookkeeping end, it would be helpful to take the amount paid -according to the bank, plug it in the search bar of shopmonkey, and voila find which transaction matches. Unfortunately this is not a reality yet on Shopmonkey but definitely not a big enough issue to lead us elsewhere.

Shopmonkey solves our disorganization problems that we had prior to becoming customers, everything was pen and paper and constantly mixed up or lost. Don't have to worry about that anymore!

We tried shop boss for the price and hated it, switched back to shop monkey and won't look back. Nothing goes unnoticed by either myself or my other service advisor. Love the workflow feature my favorite.

the calendar built in with the same software that the invoicing is sames time and effort, all of the tagging capabilities helps keep things organized. The integrated parts procurement with CarQuest is FANTASTIC!! The electronic signatures and sending of estimates/invoices are also a great feature. So far all customer support has been outstanding as well

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

When using the license plate CarFax feature there have been many errors with entry of data - although we are kilometer based the CarFax reports entered as MILES which caused many headaches for many customers. There have also been several very bad outages with the software that affected our business. But then the ShopMonkey rep turned around and offered apologies and discounts to make it better.

Documentation and clarification occurring more frequently and clearly on work orders to avoid having "he said she said" events - great to add pictures, signatures and notes to all work orders.

The price point works perfectly for us smaller shops too and still gives the value and function of the more expensive programs that are offered for shop management. They have a number of features that are really helpful, like the text communication, appoingment reminders, and the ability for our customers to pay online!

The only, very minror, thing I would call out is I would like more diverse reporting options, but when I reached about about this the team said that they wold consider this suggestion when they make their next round of updates. Honestly, the reports are wonderful, it more about somethign specific our company could benifit by having.

**What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

Very easy to keep track of sales, tracking inventory and communicating with customers.

Cant send the same invoice to multiple people at once. It has to be sent one at a time.

I feel like it makes communication w it h the customer easy. The quick links to add a message make everything quicker and more smooth.

We use a I pad and check in customers in the parking lot.  It's quick easy and makes our life easier.

The communication between Shop and customers through invoicing and getting approvals is outstanding.

Ease of use and navigation. All controls are intuitive and tactile. Canned services are really helpful for our shop.

At times the interface is slow to load. Additionally haven't seen any notable new features in years.

**What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

We switched to Shopmonkey primarily due to efficiancy and ease of producing an estimate quickly.  

The ability of the program to make adjustments is highly flexible, which allows our service team to move forward with confidence, knowing  if there is a change required down the line.

Customer support is available!  Any issues I have had have been addressed in a very timely manner.  A few of the more sensitive issues regarding payments and refunds have that took longer were not only resolved but earned my trust with this company even more.

E-sign! Woo-hoo!  This feature allows us to have a verified customer confirmation on file with such ease.  Cannot say how much this is appreciated.

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

The Purchase Orders could have more spots for information like order numbers, tracking numbers, date received, sales person etc. <-AMEN.  

I would like the downloading of vendors from quickbooks to have selection options.  Currently, it is all or none.

I would like the option to add a technician without paying for them as a user because our techs do not use the system.

I would benefit greatly with some more options in editing the users permissions.

**What problems is Shopmonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

It is solving a timing issue in the service writing department.  Estimates used to take DAYs due to the complicated set-up and requirements demanded from other SMSs.  
It solves the problem of adding labor and technicians to jobs, and closing out tickets.  On prior systems, it was impossible to close out a ticket if a labor wasn't marked or technician attached, but it also woudn't tell you where in the ticket it was referencing.  
Payments are amazingly easy to take, love the option to not take American Express.  Other systems didn't take the payments and did not facilitate a third party like Shopmonkey does with Stripe.  
The flat fee of the service charges on payments we do take in.  Before, there was a two page complicated bill that consistently added fees that we had to 'catch' to dispute.
Customer support is available through chat and prompt.  Before, it was Very hard to get ahold of someone on the phone and Chat option not available. The ability to resolve the issue was also hindered due to their outdated and complicated set-ups.
It solved our ability to communicate with the customer better by sending them estimates and updates with the click of a button.

**What do you like best about Shopmonkey?**

I absolutely love this program, I am learning more as we go.  The team at Shop Monkey are always so helpful.  You can schedule all your appointment and actually look at your appointments and then go look at your invoice/estimates with just one click.  You can add new pricing matrix to fit your  employee rate, customer rate, or any type of job.  Anytime I have needed help finding something new on the program, I just start a chat and they always show me new stuff that I wasnt aware of at the time.  You can also price compare and order parts through Shop Monkey.  This is a great program to use, we love it!

**What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?**

Honestly myself, I have not found anything that I dislike about the program.  I thought that we couldnt adjust the pricing matrix so that would have been a dislike however that feature is available.

**What problems is Shopmonkey solving and how is that benefiting you?**

We are able to watch our sales at anytime.  We can see how much revenue we are bringing in.  This is just a great tool to help organize and carefully watch your sales and revenue.  We are able to write estimates on Shop Monkey and when the customer comes in for repair we can drag the estimate over and it turns into an invoice that you can print off for the customer after job is completed.  The invoices are very detailed and specific for each type of job.
