What do you like best about Shopmonkey?

I use Shopmonkey for everything to do with my shop, from intaking appointments to collecting reviews and everything in between. I no longer need to call multiple vendors, and I love the clear layout of my schedule. I really like the work request form and the fact that I can attach it to my website so customers can fill it out themselves. The initial setup was very easy, and Sebastian made it a breeze—he still helps me out to this day. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?

I don't like dealing with duplicate customers and I wish the internal user notes could show up on all of the customer work orders. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Streamlined Management with Room for Payroll Improvement"
4.5/5
What do you like best about Shopmonkey?

I really like the online digital experience that Shopmonkey provides to our customers. It's smooth and allows for setting appointments easily. Customers can see in real-time what status their vehicle is in, which is a big game changer for us. We can send them text message updates about their vehicle's status, which our customers love. The digital vehicle inspections and the ability to communicate through text message make the whole process much easier and more efficient. This keeps our customers up to date, which has been a great experience. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?

I'm having a bit of trouble on the payroll side. We have technicians that are paid based on hourly and flag hour, so being able to customize the aspects of how we do payroll would help make the numbers a little more accurate. The same goes for our front personnel, who are paid on a commission and hourly. The system doesn't log it correctly. But that's minor compared to the big stuff the system does for us. Also, setting up was a bit difficult at first. We integrated with QuickBooks, and while that part was simple, we had to set up a lot of things on our own, like inspections and rules. It took us about thirty to sixty days to narrow it down and get it working the way we wanted. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Shopmonkey?

My favourite feature is probably the ability to text customers and how easy it is to send and explain invoices/quotes to customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?

there's really not much to complain about, I guess my only suggestion would be to have internal team messaging be on par with messaging customers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Loved 1.0. 2.0 is a disaster!!"
0/5
What do you like best about Shopmonkey?

1.0. We started using them in 2019. After the disaster of what they called the 2.0 update, we moved all of our locations to a competitor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?

Everything feels so clunky. It seems like they tried to squeeze too much into it now, and it just doesn’t flow the way it used to. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Paul Salleles of Shopmonkey

Thank you for being a Shopmonkey customer since 2019 — that kind of long-term relationship means a lot to us. We're sorry the 2.0 update didn't meet your expectations. Our goal was to add capability without losing the simplicity you relied on in 1.0, and we understand we didn't hit that mark for your shops. We reached out but haven't connected yet. If you're ever open to a direct conversation — no pitch, just a real look at what's changed — we'd welcome it. You can reach us at success@shopmonkey.io.

"Horrible customer service... Shopmonkey 2.0 is a joke... RUN from them and find something else !!"
0/5
What do you like best about Shopmonkey?

Shopmonkey 1.0 was great.... the best word I can muster to describe Shopmonkey 2.0 is "regression" added key strokes and worse functionality....CUSTOMER SERVICE is a JOKE Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?

Shopmonkey 2.0 added a few nice features... but mostly increased the hardship of using the software...within first 2 hours of using the new software I had a conversation with Judy ( which has since vanished from the face of the earth apparently) and I mentioned no less than 10 glitches/bugs/functionality problems.... roughly 2 months ago...since then.... NOT A SINGLE THING HAS BEEN RECTIFIED.

Let's read what Google has to say about it after compiling data from the net...

The "Shopmonkey 2.0 switch over" refers to Shopmonkey's transition from its original platform to a completely revamped 2.0 version, which involved significant data migration and a complete redesign of the user experience for auto repair shops. Shopmonkey facilitated this by using a platform called Arcade to guide users, provide training, and offer a way to test new features without affecting their live data. While Shopmonkey aimed to provide a better platform, some users found the 2.0 version complex and migrated to alternative software like Fieldd or Shift Industry.

What is the Shopmonkey 2.0 Switch Over?

Re-platforming Effort:

Shopmonkey undertook a major project to re-platform its entire cloud-based management system, creating a new version known as 2.0.

Data Migration:

The switch involved migrating all existing user data from the older platform to the new 2.0 system.

User Experience Overhaul:

A new, redesigned system and user interface was introduced to improve functionality and management for auto repair shops.

How Shopmonkey Handled the Transition

Arcade Software: Shopmonkey partnered with Arcade Software to manage the transition.

Guided Onboarding: The platform helped onboard users to the new system and introduced them to the full range of new features.

Safe Environment for Testing: Users could experience and test the new features in a safe environment provided by Arcade, allowing them to understand the benefits without impacting their live shop operations.

User Experiences and Alternatives

Challenges for Some Users:

While the aim was to improve the platform, some users reported significant issues and difficulties with the 2.0 version, finding it complex and a steep learning curve, according to this Reddit thread.

Migrating to Other Software:

Frustrated users, faced with learning a new system, decided to migrate to alternative shop management software such as Fieldd or Shift Industry.

Looks like my path starts with investigating Fieldd or Shift Industry now.... I recommend you do the same !! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Paul Salleles of Shopmonkey

Hi Bruce, we hear you — the 2.0 transition was a major change, and for shops that had invested years in the 1.0 workflow, the adjustment was genuinely disruptive. We've spent significant time since then addressing the specific bugs and functionality gaps that were raised in the early days of the transition, and the platform has changed considerably from where it was when you wrote this. We also hear the frustration about inconsistent support contact — continuity matters, and it's something we've actively worked to improve. If you're open to taking a look at where things stand now, we'd genuinely welcome that conversation.

"Unethical business practices"

What do you like best about Shopmonkey?

I only use Shopmonky as a customer of the shop using it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Shopmonkey?

I am a customer of a detailer in Orlando that used Shopmonkey. They decided to move to different software and Shopmonkey gave their text number to a direct competitor in town called Empire Auto Spa. I texted my original detailer to get a couple of projects scheduled and got a response quickly. Nowhere in the response did Empire communicate who they were. They pretended to be my detailer and never identified themselves anywhere in the thread. I figured it out when I got some calls from Empire, that I did not answer, and then got an email summary of the text communications. The point is if you do business with Shopmonkey just know that when you leave they are going to route your customer inquiries to a direct competitor. If that's not illegal it should be. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Response from Paul Salleles of Shopmonkey

Hi Roy, we want to set the record straight: Shopmonkey has never sold or shared customer data with competitors. What you experienced was an unintended overlap from an older version of our platform, where some businesses shared a pool of outbound text numbers. When your original shop moved to different software, that number remained active for another business — Empire Auto Spa — without any coordination or intent on our part. This was not a design we're proud of, and we've since moved all businesses to dedicated phone numbers to make sure this can't happen again. We're sorry for the confusion this caused you as a customer of that shop.
