What do you like best about Hostaway?

The best thing about Hostaway is the support. They are easy to get a hold of, very knowledgeable, and always helpful. I had complicated PMS setting and automations that took a lot of work to migrate over from Guesty, and Gabriel spent a lot of time with me getting all the settings just right. Also, in between on-boarding sessions when I was stuck on something, their 24/7 call support was ready and willing to help. Even joining google meet sessions with screen share to resolve problems and walk me through features I was unfamiliar with. Overall I'm super glad to get away from Guesty and on to HostAway. What do you dislike about Hostaway?

Like any software, they are improving things. I like this way better than Guesty, but one of my main reasons for changing was the improved API integration with Airbnb which allows the selection of who the message sender is in Airbnb when sending messages from Hostaway. This is not perfect as you cannot set a default sender, which I didn't know. However, I raised this concern and got a very nice email from the development team letting me know they will actively work on this. They are even leaving my ticket open to let me know once it has been completed. This is such a far cry above the service level of Guesty, I can't even begin to tell you. What problems is Hostaway solving and how is that benefiting you?

Like any good STR PMS - this helps me manage all of my calendars, communications, and automations in one place for all my distribution channels. This software is just much easier to use than the previous one I was on (Guesty). One of my chief complaints with Guesty is that you cannot call in for support, and their software is unnecessarily complicated. Nothing is intuitive, not even setting names. Many times when I got stuck, I would spend more than an hour on instant message with support trying to resolve a problem, only for them to say they couldn't resolve it because they were on the wrong team and needed to escalate it, which meant it wouldn't get solved for several more business days, and would have to be resolved by email. Even then, many times, they didn't correctly understand my problem for whatever reason. Hostaway solves this by using intuitive user-friendly UX, and they have support members who speak great English, and are 24/7 available and ready to help solve your problems. What do you like best about Engine?

I can book hotels on a whim. I book over 30 rooms a week across all of California and not have to worry about the mess of waiting on a Sales Director to send me over 2-3 documents via email just to book a room for more than 4 rooms, not to mention Engine will find you the CHEAPEST option and sort the hotel rooms that way. There have been a few times I have thought to myself " Hey this DoubleTree is usually $170-200 per room night but its going for $90 on Engine, Is this legit" and 100% of the time it is. Come the time where i need to call support to handle a hotels credit card handling, all i have to do is dial the support number listed at the bottom of the support tab and I give one reference quote stating my issue and i get directly sent to a human who solves the issue 100% of the time. There was one particular time I booked a room for one of my superintendent's down in Long Beach Ca. The hotel was gorgeous and highly sought after for the people that go down there for our freeway project we were doing. The hotel mishandled my guys card 2 stays in a row. Both times i called them to rectify his CC charges and try to get him the money reimbursed they mischarged. All it took was one phone call and my guy got his money back for BOTH stays. What do you dislike about Engine?

The only quirk I found would be useful is that i feel as if there should be a general "Notes for the Front Desk" tab upon booking the reservation, although I do not doubt that it end up becoming a thing at one point or another, there is a few things I could use it for. There are a plethora of Night workers we have and they usually show up at these hotels at 1-4am and there have been a bunch of hotels that have actually cancelled the reservation under their assumption that they wont show up. I do work around this by calling but then that defeats some of the purpose by having to contact the hotel anyways. Sometimes i even like to note that they will have a larger vehicle and put a note there saying so. Also, a dark mode feature would be pretty cool. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What problems is Engine solving and how is that benefiting you?

Getting rid of a paper trail and having to recollect every hotels charge on the company card and sifting through each folio for every guy. This works for assuring my employees aren't buying things they shouldn't be buying with our card on file and also having to have each folio for the accounting team to know how to code each hotel charge. The user interface would benefit from a more modern and sleek design. Although it maintains a minimalistic style, it can occasionally feel a bit outdated. It's helpful to create slightly different messages for different booking platforms and have 'one source of the truth.'
