Databricks has helped me and my team simplify our data engineering workflow by providing a single platform for data ingestion, transformation, governance, and analytics. One thing I don’t like about Alteryx is that it can be expensive, especially for smaller teams. It also takes time to learn all of its more advanced features, and when workflows get large, they can sometimes become difficult to manage. Alteryx helps me solve the problem of manual, time-consuming data preparation. It makes it straightforward to clean, combine, and transform data from different sources all in one place. Honestly I don't see any so far: If at all, it requires relatively high technical skill. It cannot be used effectively by a "plug-n-play" BI Analyst.

I started off liking Tableau as a BI tool better than PowerBI.

Then, I could see the compute downsides and missing git repo in Tableau compared to Looker.

Then, I can see the issue that Looker is very expensive and that Looker is not dbt integrated, i.e. you constantly need to maintain two disconnected repos and make changes in two places.

Some corners of the UI/UX still have room to improve. A few of the admin and settings screens feel denser than they need to be, and there’s a learning curve in places. That said, they’ve taken big, visible steps over the last year—a refreshed dashboard UI, themes, and a much cleaner AI chat experience—and the trajectory is clearly moving in the right direction.

We moved to Knowi from a well-known cloud BI platform. The previous tool required pushing all of our data into its own store before we could visualize anything, which meant ETL pipelines to maintain, sync lag, duplicate storage costs, and our NoSQL data getting flattened along the way.

With Knowi, we unified analytics across all of our datastores without moving the data and launched customer-facing embedded dashboards much faster. Row-level security and secure embeds ensure each customer sees only their own data. The semantic layer keeps metrics consistent across every surface. And with the new AI and agentic capabilities embedded in our product, customers can self-serve answers that used to come in as support tickets and custom report requests, so our team can spend its time on the product rather than on one-off reporting. One aspect I find challenging about SAS Viya is its tendency to be resource-intensive, often demanding substantial CPU, memory, and storage to operate efficiently, particularly in larger environments. The process of installation and upgrading can also be quite complicated, as it typically involves coordinating multiple services and dependencies. Furthermore, troubleshooting can be a lengthy process, since it sometimes requires in-depth knowledge of both SAS components and the underlying infrastructure. I also think that some users might perceive the interface and integration with third-party tools as less intuitive when compared to more modern, lightweight analytics platforms. Notebooks can quickly get messy once you start creating a lot of cells in the same notebook, and it’s easy to lose your place while scrolling to find the cell you’re looking for. I’m not fully convinced by this Notebook and App partitioning, because it feels clunky and confusing in practice. For example, when you’re working with tabs, it’s hard to tell in the Notebook which cells are associated with which tabs. I also found it strange that the order of cells shown in the App is different from the order in which they appear in the Notebook. Domo solved our fragmented sales reporting problem. Key business metrics like quota attainment, run rates, new business performance, pipeline, and lease maturity used to live across multiple reports, systems, and personal spreadsheets, and gathering and validating it all took significant time. Quarterly Business Review prep alone took each sales manager 10-15 hours; that work is now largely eliminated because everything lives in one centralized, validated platform. Beyond time savings, the biggest benefit is better decision-making: managers identify at-risk opportunities sooner, adjust forecasts throughout the month instead of waiting for quarterly reviews, and use the data to coach their teams week to week. The speed issues in this application can be frustrating when trying to open Cube Data or Add Columns to Reports because it takes a long time to Refresh. We moved from On-Prem to Cloud last year, and trying to resolve some of these "small" items such as Masking Dashboard URLs or Importing Images Next To Links is taking a lot longer than expected. We are using it to bring many disparate data sources together into one Governed Platform instead of having to deal with Large Excel Downloads. The visualizations in Looker feel a little dated, as they have not kept up with the options provided by competitors for visualizing data. There is very little to no AI functionality out of the box, which feels like a miss. I would like it slightly more if it had more features to lock down reports and create truly reusable dashboards. Right now it's more of a scratchpad (which is very useful), but we still use Tableau next to it for our "gold standard" reports as Count can be quite "open" and does not (to my knowledge) allow for the possibility to completely lock down a certain canvas to enable users to use it as a dashboard. There is very little I dislike about Sigma. The main challenge is that because Sigma is so flexible and configurable, the experience can depend heavily on how it is administered internally. Admin teams may sometimes lock down features out of caution or limited understanding of how those features can be governed effectively.

When that happens, it can reduce the exploratory value for business users. However, I do not see this as a product weakness as much as a governance and enablement opportunity. With the right internal guidance, organizations can protect their data while still allowing users to take advantage of the flexibility, exploration, and innovation that make Sigma stand out. As I mentioned in my previous comment, the main issue I have faced with Jaspersoft is service stability. The services sometimes stop unexpectedly, and we have to restart them manually. This has happened multiple times, and we have also received similar complaints from our clients. It would be great if this issue could be addressed to make the services more stable.
