We experienced some initial performance challenges with dataset linking at large scale, but the Luzmo team responded proactively with a comprehensive solution in development (expected Q1 2026). Additionally, we are able to bring the design cycle for new insights down significantly, rolling out a new data model and dashboard in just a few days instead of weeks. **What do you dislike about Luzmo?** Luzmo's ability to do complex queries is limited, especially when setting up relationships between tables / datasets. While we are able to massage our data into a format that works with Luzmo, it's not the most elegant, as we are forced to denormalize data to accommodate Luzmo's querying ability. **What problems is Luzmo solving and how is that benefiting you?** Luzmo allows us to get beautiful, polished dashboards in front of customers very quickly. But has a lot of options which cover basically all potential use cases that we have had. Also the ability to cache the data in the datasets using the "accelerator" feature has been very helpful, as some of our queries take a long time to load. **What do you dislike about Luzmo?** I would say the only downsides for us is that we are planning to have a lot of dashboards and datasets in the future, and I think the UI is not necessarily super easy to navigate once we get to the stage. The connection to our Data Warehouse is simple, and the integration within our internal solutions is straightforward. It is an API-first tool. The documentation is furnished and clear enough to get started very quickly! Above all, the support team is fantastic, super responsive, and very friendly. They take into account our feature requests and integrate them into their roadmaps. **What do you dislike about Luzmo?** One of the drawbacks of the simplicity of use is that we cannot customize the dashboards as much as possible, but the support team helps us with workarounds or adding our requests to their roadmaps. **What problems is Luzmo solving and how is that benefiting you?** We wanted to enable our customers to get some analysis inside our product, leveraging the work done by our internal Data Team. These analytics used to be maintained by our dev team via a custom solution: this was not sustainable anymore. Anything generated inside Cumul.io can be embedded in your application with ease, and not in an iframe like the majority of competitors. The speed and sophistication of the product are virtually unmatched when it comes to embedding and achieving a clean look. Elements generated in Cumul.io can be made to look like they truly belong in your site, unlike many other solutions which require odd templates and styling protocols to be used. The selection of visualizations is comprehensive enough to cover all reasonable use cases and enable rapid development of ad-hoc dashboards for quick analysis or story telling. The tools for traditional tabular reporting are somewhat rudimentary and limited, but they work very well at their intended purpose, which is to supplement the visualizations. The design is appealing and colors can be changed. There is a possibility to make a connection with teamleader and other apps in order to get insight in teamleader (and other) data. The dashboard can be shared with other people. It can as well be visualized on an external screen. It is possible to add additional formulae to your datasets. You can as well set the timing for synchronizing data. Although the minimal timing that can be selected is 1 hour, they were willing to set the refresh rate to 15 minutes for one dataset that really needs to be up to date. When you have a question our you need support they are always prepared to help you solve your issues. **What problems is Luzmo solving and how is that benefiting you?** We created a dashboard to follow up the status of running simulations on a supercomputer. The benefits of using cumul.io for this is that all co-workers can visualize the dashboard, filter on their name or project, ... Another dashboard also keeps track of the history of projects and simulations. Charts aren't as flexible/powerful as Excel since you can't manually make any tweaks to data values or chart format. One challenge I have is tracking historical "snapshots" of data. I haven't found a way to create a monthly trend line, for example (if that monthly data is not stored in our database) **Recommendations to others considering Luzmo:** The tool is great for setting up simple dashboards and letting automation do the dirty work of keeping them all up to date. My recommendation would be to start with a simple dashboard, integrate it with whatever other tools you are using, and go from there. Even simple dashboards can save 10 minutes per day or more. **What problems is Luzmo solving and how is that benefiting you?** I report on our sales metrics, sales revenue forecasting, sales prospecting analytics, and operational metrics for the company's platform (uptime, assets connected, etc.). We use it also to track the status of deals per user, this allows us to contact the key account managers to ask for specific updates. A next option we are looking to use are the reports that can be sent by mail to give a weekly status overview of the deals for every key account manager. Unlike other BI platforms that demand direct access to your databases or warehouses, cumul.io lets us create a plugin that acts as a translator between our data and cumul.io's query engine. We've then managed to pipe everything through our public facing APIs - the very same ones we expose to customers already, with little to no changes. This means as we extend our APIs to cover more of our data sources, our web-applications can make use of them, and cumul.io dashboards can immediately be built over that same data source. And if we change databases, or have different DBs for different purposes - even for the same notional type of data - it makes no difference to our BI whatsoever. It's hard to over-state how important this form of abstraction layer is to a small company that will evolve over time. Connecting to the datasets was relatively painless and being able to easily build basic charts was extremely easy. The default visualizations are well-designed. **What do you dislike about Luzmo?** The lack of customization from the user interface was problematic for us. We would have needed basic options such as default zoom level, or the ability to move labels.
