Who is Workday HCM pricing best suited for?

Workday HCM's pricing is best suited for large enterprises and complex mid-market organizations with the budget and internal resources to maximize the platform. G2 reviewers from enterprise segments across industries including insurance, healthcare, financial services, and information technology report the strongest ROI, citing unified HR operations, global payroll, and advanced analytics as key justifications. G2 reviews of Workday HCM consistently warn that smaller businesses and startups face prohibitive licensing and implementation costs relative to their needs. Mid-market buyers in staffing, HR consulting, and software industries report value but note the cost of ownership remains high. Organizations with dedicated Workday administrators or HRIS teams extract the most from Workday HCM's pricing structure.

What are the key differences between the free and paid versions of Workday HCM?

Workday HCM offers no free tier or publicly listed pricing tiers. According to G2's pricing data for Workday HCM, the pricing model is entirely custom-quote based, tailored to enterprise needs. This means prospective buyers cannot self-serve into a starter plan; all access requires direct vendor engagement. G2 reviewers note that costs scale significantly with additional modules, seat counts, and implementation services. There is no entry-level or freemium option to evaluate core functionality independently. Organizations evaluating Workday HCM's pricing should budget not only for licensing but also for implementation consultants, ongoing training, and potential third-party integration support, all of which G2 users consistently flag as substantial additional costs.

Is Workday HCM considered good value for its pricing?

According to G2 reviewers, Workday HCM delivers strong value for large enterprises but is widely considered expensive for smaller organizations. G2 reviews of Workday HCM consistently flag high licensing, implementation, and ongoing support costs as major hurdles. However, enterprise-segment reviewers frequently report clear ROI through automation, reduced administrative overhead, and consolidated HR operations. One G2 reviewer noted the pricing is "on par" with prior platforms but with better returns. Mid-market reviewers are more divided, citing steep costs relative to competitors. Some G2 users mention switching to alternatives like Rippling for cost savings, reinforcing that Workday HCM's pricing of Workday HCM is best justified at scale.

"Robust, Highly Customizable System That Fits Your Internal Processes"
5/5
What do you like best about Workday HCM?

This is one of the most robust systems I’ve worked with. The ability to customize it to match your internal processes is a major plus. As you become more familiar with the system, you can build a well-developed ecosystem of processes and integrations that makes the HR Operations experience much more seamless. What do you dislike about Workday HCM?

It can be a bit overwhelming for those who are new to the system. With so many options available, it’s easy for new customers to miss the value that’s right at their fingertips or to feel unsure about where to start. There are also areas of functionality within Workday that don’t feel as flexible or as intuitive as they could be, such as generating letters or other documents as part of a severance package. Another downside was the removal of a shared customer tenant for exploring new features and functionality. That change reduced the ability to test new functionality or configuration ideas in a collective space with other customers, without needing to pay for additional support and services. "Clunky Integrations, Poor Parsing, and a Frustratingly Broken Candidate Experience"
0.5/5
What do you like best about Workday HCM?

As a candidate the dashboard and navigation oin the portal is simple, but effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Workday HCM?

The worst candidate engagement system i have encountered across the last 6 months seeking employment. Multiple accounts across different roles, horrible parsing, integration with platforms is clunky, and just doesn't work. The amount of times i've uploaded my resume and then had to build out another one on the platform to apply for a role is considerable, wasting a lot of time.

The delete function on an application only works sometimes. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
