"Very good IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The editor provides a clean and clutter-free interface to code on with a focus on only the code. It comes alive when extensions like git, bitbucket, code formatting, etc. are added. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The editor looks similar to Sublime Text in many ways. The editor lacks the feature of searching for functions within the project scope. It also lacks the quality to open files containing the operation from the command palette. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Awesome platform to code"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

All things in one IDE are best - Git support, Terminal, Extensions, debugging. It is the one-stop solution for all problems. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Sometimes the git status is not updated properly when we have merge conflicts in some files. Like it is showing merge conflicts in 3 files but the source is showing 5(Correct no). Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best IDE for development - VsCode"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Vscode supports multiple languages.

Vscode has extension support which enables developers to focus on their development without worrying about other stuff. Few extensions are really helpful. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

There's nothing to dislike, but yes there might be some improvements like making vscode a little faster for low-end devices. Also integrating few of the extensions in vscode itself. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Top of the Line Cross-Platform Code Editor with Powerful Extensibility and Great Performance"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

This code editor is lightweight and provides ample development functionality for web development.

Some auto-complete plugins are huge time savers (i.e. IntelliSense).

Strong Git integration and collaboration features are available for teams.

The suite of plugins available for this application makes it highly extensible and able to meet the requirements of a wide variety of development projects. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Debugging with this application is okay out of the box, but could be better.

Keyboard shortcuts may have conflicts with other applications, especially on macOS, but there are workarounds.

Integration with server-side technologies could be more robust (i.e. Microsoft Data Studio).

While highly extensible, some machines may face difficulty running the application if too many plugins are installed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Visual Studio Code is a rich text editor that has a lot of plugins and thanks to that it can do a lot of thing. You can add eslint, prettier and many more for example TS Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

It can be overwhelming at times. This is a very powerful tool that when used by an amateur it can complicate things for that fellow. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visual Studio code even for non developers help!"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like the simplicity and design of the interface of visual studio code. I'ts amazing how this guys made everything on the right place and with the right colors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I don't like very much the tab organization section because sometimes its confusing to navigate from one tab to another, also the contrast of the colors between panels should be a little stronger from my point of view. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Undoubtable top IDE for JS development - rich integrations, versatile use case, thriving community"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is the de facto default IDE used for Javascript development across my organization and those I've worked with, in the past. With its strong inbuilt terminal, efficient integrations built by an innovative community, which give rise to multiple useful features like syntax highlighting, shortcut commands for code blocks, as well as multiple languages' support, integrated version control, it easily doesn't leave much in terms of wanting. Its speed is decent compared to the use cases it supports, and, of course, it's free! Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Takes quite a bit of RAM, making it challenging to use other applications concurrently on average laptops with 8/16 gigs of RAM. Support for Java could use some improvement, to make it an end-to-end solution. Features from the owner company, Microsoft are often slow to come. Lacks additional features for other aspects such as project/task management via the app, integration with DevOps tools. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Code completion/recommendations sort of pops out like auto-complete in a phone. Whole lot of options for code friendly/heavy users. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Not an easy-to-use option. It takes quite some time to get used to it. Feels a bit overwhelming. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

In Visual Studio Code what I like most are: It is a tool that is very helpful to edit any language code by just installation of their language plugin. It supports multiple languages. It is completely free to use open-source software. Their UI is very impressive and fast. I can also integrate it with Git easily. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Some features or points that I don't like most in Visual Studio Codes are: sometimes I feel very difficult when using keyboard shortcuts during coding and that bug should be improved by them. The rest of all things are working very fine and properly. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
