"VSCode is a Rock Solid, Reliable, Cross-platform Code Editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

After years of swapping between SublimeText, Coda, Atom, Textpad++, and just about every other editor under the sun, Visual Studio Code (VSCode) has quickly become my favorite code editor. Like Coda and Sublime, it has a robust extension ecosystem enabling it to efficiently tackle every major web programming/scripting language. Best of all though, while Sublime and Atom have progressively become slower and slower throughout the years, VSCode is fast... It loads up quickly even with many extensions installed and a large workspace.

It supports just about every programming language under the sun, has built in Emmet support for HTML, CSS, and other languages, has incredible built in helpers for refactoring JavaScript, native support for Git, and then of course just a terrific ecosystem of extensions from themes, to plugins, syntax highlighters, and everything else. It's also written with JavaScript extending in mind so writing your own extension is easy if you can't find something that you want.

FInally, VSCode is just so stable. It's stable on every environment, Windows, Mac, and Linux. The monthly upgrades never break my extensions or theme (a common problem with SublimeText), and it hardly ever breaks down and needs to be restarted for working slowly (Atom, I'm looking at you). Overall, it just seems like a rock solid reliable cross-platform code editor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I have a couple small complaints but most of them are minor. The biggest is that it has peculiar HTML copy/pasting, where bracket lines often get thrown off and adjusted. There are a couple of settings and extensions that can help with this, like formatOnPaste: true, but I find that these end up doing more than I wanted them to, when I really just want to have my brackets match up predictably. As is, after pasting a large amount of markup, I typically run the 'Beautiful' extension by hitting F1 -> 'Format Document'

Otherwise the only things I dislike are weird peculiarities with the software, like how opening another Workspace closes the existing Workspace that you have open. This isn't a big deal, but it's just needs a little optimization. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"VSCode is an awesome product!"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Its updated and improved constantly with developers in mind. The progress in the feature set is nothing short of amazing. The flexibility to support syntax coloring for complex files is great. We use it mostly when working with VueJS's single file components, in which each file usually contains 3 different languages. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I think VSC chokes a little on large files, but I know they've been improving that too. I've experienced some weirdness with the git integration: at times new branches created on the origin don't show up right away (or ever) in local, but this could potentially be an external system at fault, so not 100% sure. "VS Code"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Microsoft Visual Studio Code is a text editor/IDE developed and released by Microsoft as an open-source tool. This editor, as we have mentioned, has been developed as open-source software and is distributed completely free of charge without any limitations. It is characterized by being much more modular than the previous one. By default, the editor comes with the most basic and essential functions and is prepared to adapt to the main programming languages most used, such as HTML/CSS or C. However, its greatest potential lies in the extensions, as from the editor itself we can access a wide variety of extensions and add-ons that will allow us to equip it with the functions and features we need, without overloading the editor. What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Right now, I can't think of any disadvantages that exist in Visual Studio. The updates improve it more and more. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Awesome Editor with a few missing features"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code is a super well thought editor. It is now my main editor at choice at work - over Sublime, PyCharm, and Atom. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

A few features are distinctly missing / don't work quite well in Vscode. For example, searching by class using Command-shift-r is spotty - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's much faster in Sublime. Also, searching by function across the codebase isn't a thing. My CTO yells at me because these 2 features don't really exist when he is using my computer (I still think the rest of the benefits outweigh this drawback, though).

Additionally, I would like more syntax suggestions for Python, although that may not be so much Vscode itself, but rather an extension Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best Text Editor Around"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is simple, fast, and it doesn't crash. It doesn't make my computer overheat and it works great with my integrated system. I love the design, user plugins, and the quick setup. Most of all, though, it doesn't crash. When I was running Atom (a similar text editor from GitHub), my it crashed frequently - interrupting my work and slowing everything down. That doesn't happen with VSCode.

Oh, the git integration is also great. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It's not a full blown IDE, so I don't think this is a fair thing to compare about, but sometimes it is kind of dumb. It has options to look at a function definition, but then nothing will come up. This is most likely because it doesn't interact well with .rb.erb files (Embedded ruby files - what I often use), but I'd still like to see it fixed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

Best source code editor for developing web applications and cloud applications. Customisable and effective. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Even though git hub support is there but sometimes it is not so effective and need to be fixed. Takes lot of time to load. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The Best Text Editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code is the most complete text editor you can find.

With it you can work with any programming language, also has many plugins for different languages.

It has a built-in shell terminal to be able to compile directly without opening an operating system terminal.

It also allows you to debug code in real time. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

A negative point is that if each project opens it in a different window, and does not allow you to open different projects in the same window and change between them as you wish. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
