"Worth the switch"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual Studio Code has done an excellent job of taking the code editor field by storm. The plugins are numerous, useful and first-rate, quality-wise. The software is extremely extensible, capable of handling anything I throw at it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I've yet to find an in-IDE method for editing remote files that seems like a good fit. The best I've come up with is opening the file from a separate FTP program and letting that program handle things. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Easy to use and beautiful, with support for every language"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I love the way that you can customize it a lot easily with tons of plugins and it has support for every coding language I use. Except for one that is GCODE, so I read the documentation and make myself the plugin. Now it's on the Plugin Store so everyone can download it and can use it with color coding easily. Seriously I love VS Code, it's my main IDE for everything.

Also the autocomplete module is really helpful, and the TypeScript module while you're programming in Node JS is a mind blowing function. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Even if it's almost perfect, it's a bit buggy sometimes... for instance, the python "autorefactor when you save" is a bit buggy and indent it when it shouldn't, so you have to disable this espec or the code will not work.

Other fact is that when you open very large files, it stops loading more so it gets in half.

Also the git implementation is bugged and if you use ssh with password it doesn't work.

With PHP it doesn't really helps at all compared with other IDE's like PHPStorm or Netbeans. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Software Development"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Fast, doesn't chug like other solutions based on electron. Has a lot of good plugins too. The team over at microsoft has really done well. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I don't really have complaints for it that I can think of, it's really a fantastic product. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best code editor"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It runs terminal inside the software, very customizable with a huge selection of additional features to download. Has an internal debugger. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Would love more theming options but otherwise no complaints at all. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Smart and light source code editor."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I really like this code editor because it has a very good syntax highlighting with which I can find errors quickly, I can also configure it to my liking and place the topic of my preference. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Sometimes it can be a bit slow to find the syntax errors according to the programming language and the file size. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Visual Studio Coe | Microsoft's IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The aesthetics and feel of this software is good that it entices users to use this software more often for their development.

It is very lightweight compared to other editors in the market(even paid ones) which have lots of useless functionalitity which take up lot of disk and memory space.

Also, it is free for personal and commercial use both which saves a lot of money for any organization. First time Microsoft has gone open source and free for their product, or else they would always charge some licensing fees for their software. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Comparatively new so lacks a few features. Otherwise, nearly perfect product that developers use. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best IDE for writing code in any programming language..."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It's lite weight, merely 50 MB in Linux still very powerful in terms of file searching, code formatting.

VS Code Git integration is superb, I am in love with this feature, line by line code difference and git UI interface makes version management amazingly fast.

Default intellisence for JS, TS and many more languages.

Open source, thousands of useful extensions are there which can make VS Code a better choice to code in any programming language.

Extensions + keyboard shortcuts pack from diff IDE like the atom, sublime, vim. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

No drag and drop feature, I can't simply drag and drop files like Visual Studio. At least feature to drag n drop CSS and JS files in HTML file must include.

Debugging is really difficult, however they provide debugging facility, but I do try which won't help me, I suggest that VS Code team may enhance this feature. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A versatile, future-ready IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like how easy it is to extend VSCode's capabilities. Instead of hunting around online for plugins that may or may not work and installing them manually, Microsoft took a more centralized approach. They make all the usable plugins available through an easy-to-use package manager, making installing new extensions a breeze. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I don't like how settings cannot carry over across machines with your Microsoft Account. With other projects, I have used Microsoft Visual Studio, which synchronized to my Microsoft Account to get licensing data and set options like themes and such. I found this capability very useful since I wouldn't have to set everything up again when moving to a different PC. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

" The environment that adapts to your preferences and needs."
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The advantages offered to the user within their environment to use a wide variety of languages, plugins, etc, allowing the developer to adjust the graphic interface to their needs, easily expanding due to its size and quality. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Unfortunately, it does not allow to install very heavy compilers, because it does not support graphic applications, which limits its use, as well as complicate the user when wanting to add some compiler, file plugin, becoming unintuitive. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
