"Super versatile editor for all your coding needs"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I like a lot of things about Code. It is VERY customizable. There are a huge number of extensions out there or you can write your own. Being able to write scripts that customize the editor allow you to optimize/speed up your own processes and tailor the editor to the way you like to work, either by simply adding color coding to the code you're writing or even adding your own shortcodes for tasks you do frequently or repeatedly.

Additionally, it integrates to a number of languages and frameworks, for example Javascript/Typescript/NativeScript, making my life as a developer a lot easier, since I don't have to keep switching to the console and using command line commands every time I want to compile my code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The sheer number of options and commands the editor supports can be a little overwhelming and are not exactly intuitive. I have to have a number of cheatsheets on hand depending on what I'm working on, so I can do what I need. But I don't really know how else to incorporate so much functionality, so this is not necessarily a bad thing, it's just a matter of getting used to it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"It's a code editor but can beat almost every IDE!"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Seriously, i just love it! I Tried many IDE and code editors and none of them can beat Visual Studio Code, even Microsoft haters are using it at my work! Another thing i like is that you can share your settings in different computers, i'm using the same config with my desktop computer at home, my laptop and my work computer!

Visual Code also has a lovelly interface unlike some of it's competitors, you can choose between light and dark themes which is very useful if you spent many hours programming like we do.

Pros:

- It is very fast compared to others IDE i tried like Atom/Eclipse

- You have a lot of plugins

- It is very customizable

- Portable (Using plugins)

- It supports Linux (I tried on Archlinux and Ubuntu)

- Constant updates

- Integration with databases

- Multi platform support

- Git integration by default and i must say it is awesome!

- It is free and is open source Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

It lacks of built-in support for some languages so you have to install plugins to fix it. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Ideal editor for web development"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

I really like this editor because it has excellent features that allow me to work very comfortably, its interface is very friendly and easy to administer, its autocomplete is intelligent since it helps me write my code faster, something I also like, is I can find the errors of my code quickly thanks to its debugger. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

This editor can consume a lot of resources from my computer, depending on the type of programming language, it is also a bit annoying to write html tags because it does not identify the beginnings and closures as it should. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Awesome web editor IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

It has many tools out of the box, If you need a plugin you will find it pretty quickly, it has awesome integrations with frontend debugging. It is pretty easy to use and you can use it on every platform. I have a console included and the default theme is really awesome. You can customize almost everything, use defaults, key bindings or theme because everything is a web app, so you can modify it with css. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

As any other electron app, it consumes a lot of RAM you would need at least 16gb of ram to be able to run things smoothly. I'm currently using Vim extension but it slow, I know I can not get the same speed as using terminal but movement in vim is kind of annoying. Also, they are no key binding for moving on the file tree Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Exceptional Interface and plugins"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Smooth Code development. Have a premium look of the user interface. Always updated with standards and coding practices. It is very fast to open than other editors. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Third party plugins developed by open source community do not support in once. You have to review the plugins and then install them. Otherwise rest is good. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Switched from Atom and never looked back!"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Everything! This is not an over exaggeration. I work directly on my laptop more than I do with it hooked up to two monitors and I'm not a huge fan of using the split screen on my Macbook. I bring this up because I used to have to keep a separate terminal window open or use an Atom package that didn't always work. So I love that VSCode came with an integrated terminal and that I can set it up to use what ever shell I prefer. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

There's honestly not much if anything I can think of to dislike about VSCode. Sometimes some extensions get buggy and fail on startup but I believe that's more to do with the extension than VSCode. I've mostly experienced this problem with the Live Server plugin. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
