"Code Editor of the Future"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

This is an absolutely amazing and incredible code editor. Personally I can not imagine myself working without this code editor. It is super extensible and configurable and comes as an amazing editor out the box already. Has support for nearly everything, is open source and backed by a very large community of developers as well as by Microsoft. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I'd say the only dislike I have is that you need to spend some time to get this product configured and going for specific types of issues, but even that is getting better! Plugin Packs allow you to install all the extensions you need with one simply click to install and this enables you to hit the ground running. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Awesome IDE for developing front-end apps"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

What I like most about Visual Studio Code is it's speed. It is very light software that opens quickly and perform all the operations quickly without hanging or showing any loading screen. Any developer can use this software to develop front-end apps even he is having low configuration machine such as 2 GB RAM or lower. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

I dislike the Git integration in Visual Studio Code. Because I have used Git in Visual Studio and I find that integration much better as compared to Visual Studio Code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Extensible and customizable Editor for the community"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS code capable of customizing into our own themes by using it plugins and add-ons. IntelliSense is one of the most convenient feature of VS code. IntelliScene is more than something like auto completing and text highlighting. Support of various kind of extensions to this text editor make the software just like an IDE. The most awesome feature I like is that "Built-in Git" which support me to identify the changes I have been made, preciously. The editor is fast and UI is user friendly so while I using this always feel fresh and the experience is awesome indeed. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

When I started with VS code I was unable find extensions required and when the lines of code increases major performance decrease experienced by me. When compare to sublime text VS code basically low on performance. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Quite frankly, no better code editor exists"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

The update cycle of Visual Studio Code is very vibrant and alive because there are feature updates and bug fixes released every month. This is in sharp contrast to similar tools like sublime text and brackets which only offer updates twice a year. This kind of release cycle ensures that users get new helpful features regularly and that they are never left vulnerable to any bugs that could cause security risks.

VS Code also offers a command line interface that comes packed with all the command line tools integrated into the Operating system environment. For example, if you're working on windows and you have nodejs, git and python installed, you get a cli on vs code that is native all of these tools together with windows powershell and cmd.

Extension of the code editor's functionalty is also fairly easy through the installation of plugins which can be found the vs code store. I say this process is easy because it can be readily found on the left pane unlike other programs like sublime text which hide their package managers. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is built using electronjs whichmeans it is not a native desktop application. Instead, it is a software for the web that is wrapped up to emulate most desktop features. This makes vs code really heavy on computer memory and takes long to start up. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"A text editor with IDE like qualities"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

VS code is a phenomenal piece of software that has come out of the stables of Microsoft. I usually stay away from Microsoft products as they tend to be more expensive and complicated to use, above all of this they tend to be proprietary software , but visual studio code is a rare exception, it is 100 percent open souce, so here are my top likes about visual studio code.

Consistent UI : Visual studio code is available for Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac and Linux, the user interface is consistent across all the platfroms, so it is easy to use and switch.

Multi language support: It support syntax highlighting and linting for hundreds of programming languages. Even if the linting support is not available, it can easily be enabled with through third party plugins, which is the third pro.

Extensibility via plugins: Visual Studio code is very extensible, via the richly populated plugin library. My most favorite plugin is the Docker plugin which lets me make docker containers on the fly Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

VS code can sometimes take up too much memory and CPU, if they optimize this it would be more awesome. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"The ideal tool for developers"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual studio code is a very customizable IDE with which I develop my softwares, it has excellent compatibility with the most current programming languages, in addition its debugger helps me to find errors much faster. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

The settings are lost when you close the software, this makes me waste time, since every time I start the editor I have to reconfigure everything again. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"All in one IDE"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

My journey with visual studio code started when I was in college, after that I have used many editor but none can compare with VS Code.

> Everything at one place :- VS Code UI is very easy to use and adapt. Since you can find everything on fingertip like Explorer for file management, GIT or repository management (Source Control) etc.

> I love being able to customize the editor as my wish from layout to text and icons we can customizing almost everything in VS Code.

> Auto completion, hot keys are some of the basic feature which you can find in other editors also but what makes VS Code great is it provide it provide built in GIT command for which you have to pay in some other IDE's.

> From development to deployment you can use VS Code. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

VS Code is amazing but some of the feature I personally don't like:-

1. IntelliSense :- Its a good feature but sometime it creates lot of confusion, and if you are on your learning stage then you should avoid using these kind of feature or you won't learn anything.

2. Python integration is not that easy compare to other IDE's. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Best IDE for working with many languages"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

first special thing is very light weight application from Microsoft. I used for develop web application with angular and its suitable for node developers and many languages. and also its provide add more extensions for the IDE and also when coding with visual studio code IDE provide suggestions in using languages key words and already defined variables , methods etc. we can easily push git hub in the IDE. and specially its have auto saving mode and when ruing server, server automatically restart after the saved. and also its support terminal for the working environment and debugging facilities. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

not more deep features like jet brains product. some time when open already used file take some time to display with key word like coding. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

"Exemplary programmer's software"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

There is a solid integration for Typescript on VS COde. This is unsurprising though, considering the fact that not only are typescript and VS Code developed by the same company - Microsoft, VS Code itself is written in Typescript. Additionally, there is javascript intellisense support which enables the application to provide you with intelligent code completion suggestions on the language.

My favourite feature on VS Code however, is the amazing integration of terminals within the code editor. You get to experience and use different types of command line interfaces ranging from windows very own cmd and powershell, linux terminal, npm console, to Git's bash. The amazing thing is that you can open multiple instances of terminals within the application without ever having to leave it.

Speaking of Git, there is also a good integration with the VCS software which supports several daily git operations like pull, push, merge, commit, fetch et. cetera. If you add the GitLens plugin, your work will be magnified so much that you are able to visualize all the changes you've made to a file at any given time without having to run - git log. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

Despite being touted as a lightweight text editor, VS Code is a serious memory hog which can not allow you to run multiple instances of it even with as good amount of RAM as 16gb. If you try to, windows will send you "out of RAM" messaged. This forces you to seek other secondary text editing software in case you wish to open several projects at the same time. "Comfortably develop your applications"
What do you like best about Visual Studio Code?

Visual studio code is simply a very complete programming environment, it has its own debugger and it also has integrated add-ons with the navigation of Git repositories, the highlighting of the text is excellent since it shows a different color for each programming language. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

What do you dislike about Visual Studio Code?

This software takes a while to run and even more so if I have a large project open, some add-ons can also configure certain options, apart from these few disadvantages, I still consider it to be an excellent code editor. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.
