I like Skillable for its very fast and quick service, which helped resolve my issue with accessing the lab machine to practice D365 F&O. I have taken several courses over the last year that have used skillable. For the most part, the labs have worked well for me and have had no major issues. I will say that each time there has been some sort of issue though.

In almost every lab the machines were behind on updates, which to a certain extent I can expect, but when you're working with Microsoft the first thing 'support' will always ask if you're having issues is if you're up to date, so why not make sure these machines get updated more than once a year? I have had some that were extremely behind on updates (more than a few years) or were running an unsupported version of Windows.

I have also seen a lot of issues with the lab instructions being incorrect or missing information. I know that Microsoft changes layouts/UIs/etc. a lot, but it should not be that bad that I am having to regularly search for things because the instructions are not correct. Is there any sort of QA done?

One lab I had previously the 'auto typing' was extremely slow (Anyone could type it faster with one finger).

Another lab, the machines were slow to respond to any input and were almost unusable.

My latest lab that I had was by far the worst. Within the virtual machines, webpages would not load, and Microsoft's built in troubleshooter was saying connectivity issues. I had to constantly restart the web browser or the machines themselves. I spoke with Skillable support and they run you through the list of trying to rule things out, which I understand, but if multiple people from different companies, regions, etc. are having similar issues, it's not something that I can fix or have control over (it's not my computer!). It seemed like the virtual machines were given the least amount of resources to run what they needed and had a horrible internet connection. I was constantly getting pages not loading, error messages or just the three dots waiting for the page to load. And this is all within the virtual machines as the skillable webpage was working fine. Also, I had a feeling the Microsoft tenant I was given was not properly reset from the last user, as some of the steps were already completed and I had to undo or remove items to perform the steps to complete them.

All I ask is put more effort into maintaining and QA'ing the labs so that we can actually complete them fully and learn. I feel like I spent more time in this lab waiting for something to load or having to figure out how to do it because the instructions were wrong. Review collected by and hosted on G2.com.

We use Skillable almost daily across multiple teams to build, manage, and deliver lab environments for our customers. It’s become a core part of our training and demonstration workflow. The platform makes it easy to design labs for virtualization, traditional workloads, and increasingly, cloud-based scenarios. The cloud slice integration is particularly helpful when building labs on public cloud environments.

Skillable has proven to be a powerful and flexible platform for delivering lab environments to our customers. The ability to create labs for virtualization, traditional workloads, and even complex cloud-based scenarios gives us a lot of freedom. The cloud slice integration in particular is a standout — it allows us to build and deploy cloud-based labs with relative ease.

We also appreciate the intuitive user interface, which has only gotten better with recent updates. Features like custom theming, containerization support, and ongoing improvements to usability make Skillable feel modern and developer-friendly. The platform has clearly been built with extensibility and long-term use in mind.

We’re now in the process of migrating from our on-premises solution to Skillable’s cloud-hosted offering, and while it’s a big shift, the overall platform capabilities make us optimistic about the future. Our main challenge with Skillable has been its integration with Microsoft Azure. While the cloud slice concept works well for many workloads, Azure requires manual scripting in the lifecycle configuration, which slows us down and adds extra steps compared to other environments.

Because we use Skillable so frequently, even small issues can impact delivery. The caching problems—where labs occasionally lose their cached state and fail to load—have been particularly disruptive, especially during live sessions. While these don’t occur every day, they’ve happened often enough that we’ve had to raise multiple support tickets over time.

Thankfully, network latency problems we had earlier seem to have been resolved, which has helped stability.

Lastly, while Skillable offers a solid value for the feature set, we do feel the pricing could be a bit more competitive, especially for long-term adoption at scale. This mismatch forces me to exit the training to figure out how to proceed, disrupting my learning process. It's clear the lab manuals need updating to ensure they reflect the actual lab setup correctly.
